Hi @Jack Sparrow my conifer in similar pot to your moms and I was going to remove the Ivy to add small edge plants like you have and it's a no go mate as it's entwined with my conifer rooting but they're both maturing well like your moms since repotting

My four Pink Pampas Grasses are maturing well

Well last year, that stem put out pink flowers, but only a couple.
I put a piece of tape around it so as not to prune the entire stem out in my spring prune.
This year it has come up with 3 pink flowers and one white, I dont think the colour changes as they age, I'll let you know on that one.

It was bought many years ago, I think it is this one Fathers Day patio rose.

You could make some money from that sport on the rose with pink and white flowers.

 

Tomorrow's weather is supposed to be pretty grim so I picked these for the house
