I have the same problem; I've tried them in several places in my garden and they have dwindled and disappeared, except for those planted in a free draining, sunny raised bed. There they have formed clumps, look a mess and don't flower well. Last year after rain in June and the first flowers for some years I decided to dig them up transfer some to pots and put some back. I suspect the issue is lack of eater in summer although they like the drainage in winter. The alternative is they could be too congested.

It grows wild here so maybe it likes being ignored and dry. These were on the roadside and taller than me!

Some garden views in mid June …
but with several compost bags containing weeds and 'cut-backs' strewn around, since I had not the energy to collect them all up !
… and also the other side of the garden is in a mess so I'll show that at a later date after I've sorted it out [IMG]
