Dracunculus with their stripy stems - yet to flower - we have a couple of clumps of them (I'm still clearing the moss in this bed :phew: but have filled two wheelie bins with it)

I've just checked and the garden is flowering approx. two weeks earlier than last year.

The Saphora - it's going to be magnificent this year if we don't get a very heavy frost

This tree peony now has 45 buds on it. The flowers will have bloomed and fallen by Open Day :noidea:

@KFF It's a yellow flowering Epimedium. It's quite vigorous in growth (much more than the pink or red) and low growing. It produces pretty heart shaped leaves from the end of flowering and they stay on the plant all year. We cut them back this time of year to expose the flowers.

We have three different colours - photos from last year. The yellow plant has a diameter of about 5ft (fairly old) and the others only about 2ft. Height between 12" - 18".

you can see some of the leaves in the third picture.

Thanks @shiney , like that one I'll keep a look out for it. I'm not keen on the other two but I think that has such a lovely fresh Spring-like colour.

Loving the photos of everyone's beautiful spring gardens.

Our garden is starting to bloom now, I absolutely love this time of year.

I have a question about an established Forsythia that is possibly in the wrong place now.
Can it be moved? If so, is Autumn the best time once it is dormant?

If we did attempt to move it and it died, is there any thing we can do beforehand, like a cutting or something, in order to try to have a back up plan? Its really beautiful, but its down the side of the house where you don't really get to see it, I have a place in the back garden where I think it would be happy. Or do I just buy another one?

Can you post a picture Sienna?:)

I have moved pretty big forsythias, wegeilas, philadelphus, deutzias etc., etc., and done so sometimes at completely the wrong time of year....given to sudden impulses alas!!....and they still move well. However, move in autumn .....bit late for now:)

If yours flowers well, and some don’t, try to keep it. No, no special preparation needed if moved in autumn save for deciding on recipient site, digging compost etc to help improve the soil. I like to dig the recipient hole before digging up anything. Cut back damaged or very long roots, cut back top growth maybe by a third (this means no flowers next year) and watering it in well :)

                        Handsome fellow isn’t he?.....the dog I mean :)

Great thanks @Verdun , we will put that on hold for Autumn.

The dog is our five month old retriever Mabel. She's lovely, and such a good girl most of the time! :heehee: She does tend to get the zoomies and charge around the garden and in the borders which has lost us a few plants, cheeky thing. Gets away with it with her cuteness luckily!

Forgot to add the forsythia does flower really well which would be such a shame to lose it. But we do need to rethink the border at the side of the house.
