agree with @pete Looks Euonymous fortunei Emerald 'n Gold.

For the possible aphids (think it's more likely to be scale than aphids) try hosing it down with the hose on jet. It won't damage the plant, might get rid of the pest and will remove a lot of the leaves that will be dropping over the next month.

If it's Euonymous scale you will see it on the stems as well. This may be of help

Small rockery looking good with Osteopernum, self-sown Freesias and small Felicia ...

The plant in the terracotta pot (without a base) is a self-seeded Myoporum acuminatum from the large one we have at the bottom of the garden. We plan to keep this one as hedge height.

Looking at it now all I see are gaps to be filled, but then I always seem to forget all the Fruit Trees, Hardy Fuschias , Echinaceas, Salvias, Buddleias, Cupids Darts, Azaleas, Hardy Rudbeckias, Verbenas, Roses and all the other flowering shrubs!! Plus not forgetting hopefully all our Dahlias too.

This is where panic sets it as to where all the newly sown ones are going to go. No Dad's garden now too offload some too.
