Oh, the lovely Cat's Claw @pete. It is considered invasive here, hence me not planting it. Is that a Lemon Callistemon? My Melaleuca has white brushes but I am having it cut down/back as it is 4 meters at least and hanging low over a patio!

Hi Victoria, yes cats claw, I cant get rid of it, been growing on the house wall for more than 20yrs.

The Callistemon is from seed @strongylodon sent me some years ago now, its very tall and leggy and will be getting a hard cut back after flowering.
I dont think Melaleuca survives here.

That is a poor looking soul, Pete. A hard cut will do it good.

The "star attraction," our tortoise shell rhodo. Always the last to flower. I don't know how many blooms there are on it, there's even some in the middle. Not looking forward to all the dead-heading it will eventually need.

              P1020911.JPG

This, our youngest acer has a prodigious growth every year. It'll need some serious pruning later if it is not to completely dominate the end bed. It goes through a variety of foliage colours

              P1020912.JPG

All our roses are doing well. There's only five on the patio as we've moved ten to the paving over the former koi pool. But the ceramic pots are growing again, we're up to seven, plus the two old stone ones at each end of the patio steps, one for a clematis, the other a rose and the mimosa in the big tub. One new pot contains the blueberry plant my wife ordered a few weeks ago, (there's plenty of fruit developing on it) although at the moment it's sitting in a smaller plastic pot inside the bigger pot.

              P1020913.JPG

The empty pot is awaiting our latest acer purchase. An acer palmatum Taylor.

              Stock photo.

The water on the patio is the aftermath of two blackbirds having had their evening bath. One used the bird bath on the top step and the other the big Pyrex oven dish you can just about see.
