I'm still in awe of Cobaea; it's taken off like a rocket the past few weeks!

The trick is going to be ... trying to harvest seed because the bells all seem to close up again

I'm yet to find a seed on mine.

Maybe, because they flower later in the season, the seeds don't get a chance to fully ripen?:dunno:

@longk - have you found any way of saving seed from it? Do you think it would be possible to mature the seed by removing the promising looking ones and popping them on a warm sunny windowsill to "mature"?

As they are a late maturing plant we find that they develop seed late. Ours flower well into November as long as there aren't heavy frosts. We leave the seed pods on the plant well into the Autumn (check the ground every so often in case the pods have dropped).

The bells close up and develop the seeds inside

It's surprising how you can squeeze large plants into a 4ft wide bed!

plants are either still flowering or producing seed :blue thumb:

The Fuchsia flowers fell from a plant that towers over the Begonia. Each flower is about 2" across. The Begonia escargot has doubled in size in six weeks.

The wind has peeled back much of the Ipomea lobata and guess what - there are Cobaea seed pods behind that lot!

A close up of a Salvia atrocyanea flower with and exposed pistil showing how hirsute they are..........

I yanked this Malva sylvestris - Common Mallow out of the hedge next to Mum and Dads place. Shame as it was an especially nice colour but they are invasive weeds so it had to go.............

Haha! I was hunting Cobaea seeds today :heehee: My attempt at photographing them The top one, the seeds are still a little unripe, but the one next to it (and slightly below) look fully dark and ripe (?)

Nope - you need to look for a seed pod. It looks a lot like an unripe passionfruit.

The pictures of the pods above are not this year. I took them in November 2015. So there's time yet for them to develop. The seeds aren't always viable as it depends on how long they have had to develop.
