That likely explains the difference in timings for me. Last year I grew them in pots on the patio which gets full sun from early Spring. This year they are in borders at the bottom of the garden which gets more shade.

Thanks @OwdPotter @Plantminded - though why I'd want ANOTHER hosta to fight the slugs for, I don't know!
Abutilon still doing well, though I suspect it'll die within next 2 years, as they do ...

No, the leaves are not sticky @ViewAhead, although they look as if they should be .

My remaining Hostas. I had a few more but got rid of what seemed to be slug favourites and kept these with variegated or unusual leaves. Only one munched, so far .

From top of steps to bottom: Patriot, Essence of Sunset, Praying Hands, Brim Cup.

Cheers, @Plantminded. :blue thumb: I am not a fan of sticky leaves. Some geraniums have them, some don't. Magnificum leaves are a pleasure to touch. Almost like rabbit fur.

Your hostas look to be brimming with vim. :wow:

@ViewAhead if you wanted a geranium with lovely leaves, try tomentosum. Not hardy, but smells of mint and leaves like fairy blankets!

Oranges, be nice if they were edible, full of pips and sour/bitter.
