Something about that one stood out to me as well .
The grass appears to be leaning one way and the part of the tree in shot is leaning the other way.

@fairygirl if you want polianthes, have a look in Poundland next spring - that's where I got mine! And it has flowered, just needs more tlc to do so! I've found that new bulbs are good, because suppliers get them up to size and the bud is there already, but they have a tendency to divide and produce lots of little ones in following years.

Thanks @CarolineL - we don't have Poundland anywhere near here, but I'll take a look at one of the other cheapo shops and see if they have it. If I remember! It's often the case with bulbs, as you say. Easy to forget that they're like many other plants, and will keep trying to reproduce, which can alter flowering potential and timing.
Our rowans and many other trees/shrubs are either very, very late this year, or completely bare @Escarpment. It's been far milder through October [and the start of this month] than we would expect so plants are all of a dither. They even mentioned it yesterday in the weather on our early evening news about how weird and mild it's been, and it's either been very calm [highly unusual] or very rough so lots of foliage has stayed green or gone. We're getting double fig temps overnight at times, when we'd usually struggle to be anywhere near that in the daytime. I just looked at that rowan a few mins ago and it already looks much yellower/oranger. My philadelphus are still green. :noidea:

I've had pretty poor results from Polianthes in recent years, just leaves from new bought tubers.
I once read the tubers need a good baking to get them to repeat flower.

The Acer in my garden is causing more work with leaf clearance, but the mess looks good .

Yes, mine looks like chaos compared to yours @Plantminded.

I should go out and do some tidying..

Not mine but driving thru town the other day I saw a wonderful display of flowering Nerine - such a tiny front garden just feet from a busy road but a truly stunning sight. Came home and looked at mine - 1 flower !!

I've noticed Nerines in flower around here in the last few days, I thought they were late this year.

The grass was bending in the wind and the tree grows outward fairly symmetrically from the upright trunk but the part mainly in view is just one side of it. It gives a good effect, though. :)

View from the back garden a couple of days ago, just as the watery sun disappeared behind the increasingly golden beech trees and hedging along the nearby road and the NT garden boundary on the opposite side of that.
