Over the last season or two I've noticed that plastic plant labels have now become shiny on both sides. Until now, they have always been shiny on one side and matt, kind of rough on the other. This is what I use and prefer as I can write on them with pencil, shiny plastic and pencil do not get on together.

Has anyone bought any recently that match this, if so..from where?

    Many thanks.

    Steve...:)

I bought an old Venetian blind at a boot sale, and just cut it up to sizes required
        £1 for 300 x 8" labels

I use a Sharpie to make my plant labels, they can write on anything.

Slightly rub them with sandpaper......the so-called indelible pens work so much better then.
Incidentally, I have found NOTHING to be permanent incl Sharpie.:)

Apparently Sharpie used to include xylene for permanence, but I think it is a bit toxic so they don't any more. I have got a Staedtler Garden Permanent marker which seems ok. If you need to remove the writing I find the 'magic' melamine sponges are great and leave a good writing surface. The main problem is some labels that get brittle in sunlight - and not knowing which brand would do it

Thanks Jiffy, I'm looking into that.:)

I don't want to use sharpie pens, smooth venetian blinds or to be sanding my own labels down. Thanks for the replies, your efforts are appreciated but my post was quite descriptive.

Well we will all take that as a slapped wrist :snorky:
If I buy my plant labels from Wilkos they always came with a pencil in the bag of 100 . The few odd labels in my desk draw , do have a matt side . Now whether these are Wilkos or Ebay buys I don't know.

Without going outside now and facing Brian, I cannot guarantee that the one's I've used this year have a smooth side and a slightly rougher side. However, I can state that I bought some white plastic labels earlier this year from either: Pound Shop; £stretcher or B&M. The bag I bought came with a pencil which I used to write on the white plastic and they have survived since March with no issues.
