Wisteria issue

Hello, I'm new here and I was wondering if anyone here could help me.

I have a huge problem in my garden.

I hired a team of gardeners in on Friday, I told them not to touch the wisteria which has been growing for years and is very, very large. Well, a member of the team apparently doesn't speak English and has no garden experience, so he has literally hacked it all down to a stump.

I'm devastated to say the least. I adored this, it was the pride of my garden.

I have someone coming tomorrow from the company, they were very apologetic. I have to see what they can do/offer, there is no salvaging it this year (I'm so upset as it had so many furry bits ready to become beautiful). But does anyone have any advise on what I can do to try to promote growth for next year? He's really gone to town on it and stripped it, but it's always been a generous bloomer, I'm loathe to replace it outright if that's what they offer.

@ammy I would wait a bit before doing anything drastic. Wisteria are hardy plants and can take a brutal pruning, I not sure about how well it will do cut down to the stump though. If it is alive it will show growth this year. How old is the wisteria ?

It's very old, it was here when we moved in. It's just a worry as it's been done like this and before it's even had the chance to bloom!

Are there any tricks that help it along with it's growth? Or any particular feed that I could give it to help it along?

We just adore it and baby it, and to see it all hacked to pieces is awful.

moo poo.
I'd just leave it, sure it will grow back, but might be a couple of years before you see flowers again.
It will probably go rampant for a few years with vegetative growth.
