Words that get on your nerves

A new one for me...... Worsement........ apparently the opposite of Betterment One good thing - Levelling Up seems to have fallen by the wayside ( for now at least ).

 

No worsement round here. Life just gets worser and worser.

 

Maybe it gets worser and worser until it gets to ( the ) worsement so you've still got that to look forward to

 

You need to pass the imgettingabitmiffedment and the then the we'regoingtohellinahandbasketment but after worsement, there's the we'realldoomedment

Allowed. When someone says to me are you Allowed to do that. When it is a simple action or activity, can't think of an example now. Folks that say, Are you Allowed. that just makes me wonder do they spend their lives making sure they are allowed to do something for every action and not just be creative or use common sense. Guess it is just like folks that want to stay in their own narrow lane.

 

I think to be honest it was really levelling down.

 

Level should be .... level. It is or it isn't. You can't be a bit pregnant and your wall can't be a bit level.

 

Yes @BB3 you can't Level Up or Level Down - just another meaningless phrase politicians have invented Such a shame that John Humphrys or Jeremy Paxman are no longer doing interviews in the world of politics .

 

Levelling requires a spirit level. Gin, maybe?
