    Aloha everyone,

    Zigs :heehee:

Yesterday was big bonfire day. :blue thumb: I needed to make room on the bonfire as it will soon be time to prune the rest of the fruit trees. I posted a few of the photos on 'What are you doing ...'. Although I took lots of photos.

I got most of the mowing done yesterday and hope to finish it today. I have quite a bit of paperwork to do - bills to finish sorting out, credit card statements to check, minutes and agendas to print for an AGM tonight and a report to write. Shouldn't take too long as long as I don't have problems like the other day!

Our phone lines, and internet, are with BT and we rarely have any problems with them. One of the lines I pay Line Rental Saver (LRS) and the Unlimited Anytime Plan (UAP). LRS means that I pay a year in advance and get approx. 17% discount. UAP means that I pay a monthly fee and then all my calls to landlines (except for 090 and 0844) are free and to mobiles is half price. It also includes Caller Display and Call Barring.

Seems simple enough. My renewal of LRS is due in three weeks and all I have to do is phone up and pay by credit card (they can't do it by Direct Debit but the UAP is on DD). So I phoned up, went through the usual rigmarole of 'press 1', press 4', press 2' etc. until I pressed the final '2' to be put through to the payment section. The system then said that 'the number you are calling is not recognised'. It's their system that is calling their own number! So I try again.

The same thing happened twice more! So I did the usual thing to make sure that I got through - I phoned 'Sales' (you can always get through to them). When I got through to them and said what I wanted they said that I needed to phone the other number :thud:. I told them that their rules, Section 17 (b) said that when a customer calls saying they're having trouble getting through, they must deal with it (I made that section up :heehee:). So they did.

There was no problem and they told me that LRS would start from the renewal date in October but the price, for the year, had gone up from last year's £141 to £159. Also the price for UAP had gone up from £5.48 to £7.50 but it now included Caller Display and Call Barring. I'd seen all that on their web site.

That didn't stop me from saying that £7.50 is too much and I didn't want Call Barring as I enjoy messing the callers around. They told me that it's all one package now but I don't have to use Call Barring. I said "how about giving me a discount anyway" (no harm in asking) and they said "Alright, we drop it to £5.50"! :hapydancsmil: One happy customer :blue thumb: - until I received my confirmation email!

The email said that the new contract started immediately! Whereas it should have started on 14th Oct - so it was cheating me out of three weeks money! I didn't want to spend ages pressing numbers on the phone so went onto instant messaging on their website - and got through to India.

I explained the situation and they told me that there was nothing they could do as the system automatically starts the new contract as soon as they receive the credit card payment. After a few messages backwards and forwards, where they said that nothing can be done, I told them that if that was the case they had broken the law for mis-selling. I then sent them a copy of their email telling me I could pay in advance and gave them a link to their own website where it said you can pay up to 27 days in advance.

They quickly backed down and said that they had now sorted it out. I told them that I wanted it confirmed in an email and that I also wanted a written apology. I got the confirmation but no apology, so insisted on it, or I would take it higher. Got it immediately. Don't mess with Shiney! :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

    Have a great day

    Aloha!

      Morning all

      Lovely fresh sunny morning here.

I have lost my bouncability at the moment as Kai died on Saturday morning in the early hours. We buried him under his favourite tree, a huge old magnolia where he used to lie in the shade in the summer. We miss our big daft lump.

Hope everyone is well and has a lovely day.

Good morning everyone - looks to be another bright day today, and doesn't feel too cold so far.

Eve - so sorry to hear you have lost a friend and companion :grphg:

Late heading to work today as I need to take Little C to school (Mrs C has to travel to a funeral) - feels odd sitting having a brew at home so late in the morning.

Hope you all have a good day

          Good morning all,

Bit on the nippy side out there this morning but I am sure it will warm up later.

Eve, sorry to learn of your loss. As Loli says maybe you could put the loss on the Rainbow Bridge page.

Loli, Glad you made progress with your garden.

Zigs, enjoy your fishing with Scrungee this evening.

WOO, hope you are getting your bouncibility back.

          FC. Enjoy your late start!

Shiney, Good luck with all your paperwork. Virgin have charged me Telephone line charges this month so I guess my annual payment has run out, they didn't remind me. I shall have to phone them and sort it out.
Have a great day all and stay safe and well, God bless.:wub2:

            Morning all

Thanks for all the hugs and kind thoughts.

It's the first day of autumn and it's definitely feeling, well, autumnal. Sun is shining though and it's going to be a lovely day.

:heehee: @ Loli and her pumpkin gazing. Mind you, I'm not much different with the sweetcorn. Never grown them before and have been fascinated watching them grow and ripen.

Have fun fishing with Scrungee, Zigs.

Make the most of your leisurely start FC. I expect you'll have to make up for it when you get into work.

Did you try the change of pillows, Moyra? :fingers crossed: you get to the bottom of your allergies soon.

Sending good thoughts to everyone, hope it's a great day for you all.

I personally cannot stand sweetcorn but my OH loves it so I grew it for him. He did say it was the sweetest he'd ever tasted.

              Fabulous looking leaf mould Loli.

                  Evening all :)

Been an odd sort of day really, don't feel like I have done much but I haven't stopped..... brought some work home with me too (which I will be getting on with shortly).

Took an hour or so out this afternoon to fit my new toy into the car - fantastic! I will endeavour to post a link to a sample vid shortly.

Hope you have all had a good day, and are all in for a restful evening.

EDIT - the footage linked to has been processed and then uploaded, so is a lot more 'blocky' when played online than the file as it is when it comes off the camera.
