Seems to have done the trick. Started on mowing the lawn. Just having a quick lunch break then back out in the blazing sun

Turned quite dull here today, although remained dry. Finally managed to finish the decorating, and went for a wee wander and brought home a pound and a half of brambles/blackberries (not as much as I was hoping for though)

Then it was into the garden to harvest remaining and salvageable fruits from my tomatoes as I have blight setting in and over the past few days or so it has torn through my troops. 20lb of green ones (could I potentially be sitting on an EU chutney mountain in a week or so time?) I've also got 2lb 13oz of wee yellow fellows, and 7lb 7oz of assorted red toms that I have no idea what to do with other than tomato soup or sauce; all ideas welcomed!

I am hoping now to spend my weekend trying to emulate my wee dog last night (apart from making preserves) - do you think he was comfortable? :snork:

He was absolutely sparko, and had been there nestled between the cushions and the back of the sofa for a good hour or so.

I did offer him the chance to call in the RSPCA, but he didn't seem interested. Even when we went up to bed last night, all he did was sit there in his bed waiting for me to tuck him in (and no, I am not kidding ) - dog has a better life than the humans in this house!

                      Aloha everyone,

Woo, you're right, it's another wonderful day :blue thumb:. Thank you for not saying 'best foot forward' :loll:. That was most thoughtful of you. :)

The many hours of sprinkler use on the veggies has worked wonders :dbgrtmb:. They've all perked up and doing well again.

I spent an hour and a quarter waiting, on the phone, to get through to the tax man and just ten minutes talking to him. I'd received a £15 cheque as a tax refunbd and a sheet of paper with their calculations. After years of having to fill in a Self-Assessment Tax Return I then spent many years pointing out that when I retired I didn't have any income that required me to make a return. It took them until four years ago to agree that I was just wasting their time, and mine, filling one in.

So, if I don't have to tell them what income I have, how are they able to calculate that they owe me £15? They do know what my State pension and my Personal pension pay me (not a lot) and they make my personal pension company deduct tax. I understand that bit :blue thumb:. Then they had calculated that I had 'x' amount bank and building society interest. The only thing is that they just make a guess at the figure - which was eight times more than I get!! That shouldn't make any difference as banks and B/S's deduct tax at source but another bit of their calculations also made no sense.

I pointed out that if I take their assumptions and alter them to what actually happens they then owe me another £74 - which is all the tax I pay in the year! I told him the figures and he agreed. So I pointed out that it is probably the same for all four years, which he said he would look at. He phoned back and said he 'thinks' I'm correct and a cheque for £260 will be sent to me. Result

I don't think he has quite calculated it correctly because I haven't paid that amount of tax in the four years! :heehee: It'll help pay for a holiday :)

I'll get out there today and finish off all the mowing. It should take more than two hours. Then I'll pick beans (got customers tonight), courgettes and plums. A friend has made lots of jam with the plums I gave him and he offered us some, but we don't allow jam, cakes, chocolate etc. into the house

                      Have a great day

                      Aloha!

Be like a steam kettle. Though it's up to its neck in hot water it continues to sing.

                        Good morning everyone,

Shiney...It's a good job you're on the ball with all these things,I wouldn't have a clue where to start.

It turned into a fabulous day yesterday:SUNsmile: overcast here again this morning but warm:blue thumb:been out and done the watering and topped up the bird baths, the birds were lining up waiting for a drink.

I made the mistake of watching the news this morning which is something I rarely do,I know the reason why now:doh: there's some horrible frightening things going on in this world:sad:

I'm off to bury my head in the sand:rolleyespink:

Waves to all, have a great day, take it easy and take care:SUNsmile:

                          Good morning everyone,

Not very bright this morning, hope the sun comes out later although I understand there is a slight chance of rain. Depending on that is whether I get out with the scooter with Amber today.
Have a good day everyone, God bless. :wub2:
