    Good morning everyone,

Hope you're all feeling OK today:thumbsup:
Woweeeee that was some gale last night:huh: I wasn't expecting it at this side of the country:rolleyespink:Hope everyone got through it unscathed:blue thumb: It's eerily still out there now:th scifD36:.
Yesterday I was psyching myself up to go outside to plant my Roses ,it was bitter cold ,when I was chatting to the builders one even offered to plant them for me.I heard my self say "NO" in quite a desperate voice  it was like someone saying they were going to steal my sweets off me:heehee: we had quite a laugh about it.It was a very kind offer though:thumbsup:

Moyra...Archi is like Amber ,he wouldn't dream of 'going' in the garden, whereas Theo won't 'go' when he is out on a walk and waits till he gets back:rolleyespink:...

Have a lovely day everyone, keep warm and well and take care:SUNsmile:

          Morning all

No gales here but looks as though there's been a lot of rain during the night, dry now and the sun is trying to come out.

Arm is less painful but still can't use it, guess it'll take time for the muscles to heal properly.

Sorry to hear the lurgy has got you Shiney. Hopefully a day confined to barracks will help you to get better.

Hope all poorly people feel better soon.

          Have a lovely day everyone

              Good morning everyone,

Dark this morning, shall be glad when we turn the corner and it starts to get lighter.
I'm not sure these antibiotics are doing any good, I think they must be because the pain under my shoulder blades and my chest seems a little clearer but my sinuses and throat are still very conjested. Shiney hope you are feeling a bit better this morning. Eve, hope your arm is much better too. WOO, what were you doing up night flying at silly o'clock.

Have a good day everyone, stay safe, dry and warm and above all get well and keep well too, God bless.:wub2:

                  Aloha everyone,

Woo, I was up and about but not able to play on the computer. My office is right next to the bedroom and the door is glass. So if I put the light on in the office it may wake Mrs Shiney :snooze:

I've still got the lurgy but I'm hoping it will start to get better today. I need to turn the tap off in my head and throw out the cough gremlin that has been bashing away at the inside of my ribs.

I had to go out to the bridge club last night. I wouldn't have gone but there was a possible problem at the village hall that only I could sort out. The village school is next door to the hall and they were having a nativity play in the evening. There's an ongoing problem (been going on for years) with the parents using the hall car park when taking kids to school and picking them up.

The car park is private property and for the use of hirers. The constant use of 4x4's manoeuvring in the car park meant that the hall had to spend £17,000 on repairing the surface. They also put in a car park barrier (another few thousand) that is timed to close twice a day for the school run.

To try and explain, most of the pupils (but not all) live in the village. The poor little darlings can't walk to school on their own :whistle: and the parents are too lazy to walk with them :mute:. The village car park is just under three hundred yards from the school but that's too far for mum to walk!

I had a major problem for my Tuesday afternoon club. Apparently the school were having their Christmas Carols at lunchtime, which is not the time the barrier is closed. So when my club members turned up at 1.30 the car park was almost full. We need approx. 40 car parking spaces for my members and the average age of the members is about 80 (one is 96) and a number of them are walking impaired. So I had no choice but to get them to park, blocking the school cars! It didn't do me any good standing out there for half an hour in the cold and directing the traffic .

So I was expecting the same problem for my evening club last night. The school head teacher is supposed to notify the village hall management when they have an event on so that the barrier can be closed, but they didn't do so. I phoned the school yesterday morning and found out that they had the Nativity in the evening. So I had to go out in the cold in the afternoon to over-ride the barrier timing mechanism and lock it down (fortunately I have a key to the system as I'm on the management executive).

It's not quite that simple as the road through the middle of the car park is the access to some dwellings at the far end. So I had to, then, go and notify the residents so that they could take their 'zappers' if they go out. The 'zappers' raise the barrier for a car to enter and the barrier comes down automatically after they've gone through.

I then had to go up there earlier than normal in the evening to control entry for our members - and turn away the parents. Some of them were quite abusive although the school had printed on their tickets that they mustn't use the car park. I wasn't quite as polite as I would normally have been as I wasn't feeling very well. One parent said she was going to leave her car blocking the entrance. So I asked her which police pound she would prefer to pick it up from :heehee: as she would be blocking the emergency access for the dwellings at the end.

Phew!!! I've now got that off my chest :)

Moyra and Eve, I hope you're getting better :grphg:

Ziggy, has the wind helped to produce power for you or do you have to lock it if the wind gets too strong?

                  Have a great day

                  Aloha!

                    Morning early people :)

You got more patience than me Shiney, I would have locked them in for the night and then charged a £200 release fee :paladin: Especially as the village car park gives free parking for the first half hour.

Wind generator is fine in a gale, kept the batteries charged nicely :)

Have a good day everyone and don't get blown over :hate-shocked:

                    Good morning everyone,

                    Healing hugs to everyone:grphg:

Shiney..Isn't it a disgrace these days with these school run cars,I find it extremely annoying:mad: It's just the same here, although all the children live in the village(rapidly turning in to a town :gaah:)you rarely see one walking to school and the way the parents park is ridiculous there's no wonder there's accidents. It's the same at our local shops. If I'm out and about and there's anything I need on the way home I can't just pop in as I drive by because there is no way I can find a parking place. There's cars double parked all over the place so I rarely use my local shops now:frown:..and while we're at it:old: this mobile phone business drives me round the twist too:rolleyespink: some people don't seem to be able to function without one of those stuck to their lug holes:doh:

                    Ahhhh feel better for that:heehee:

Although the builders are still doing a terrific job and we're nearly there now it is all wearing a bit thin, the whole house is in chaos with furniture piled up in every room, pointless trying to dust and tidy up properly because as soon as I turn around more dust is settling:doh:There's a rumour Christmas is round the corner:help:

Take it easy everyone and take care:SUNsmile:

Zigs, our village car park is free. The only rule is no overnight parking.

Loli, they've had to double yellow line the road by our doctor's surgery because it's only 150 yds from the school. Some parents were parking their cars on the road and blocking access to the doctor's car park!

I think someone should invent a form of radar that zaps mobile phones if they're inside a car and close to the driver's ear. It should disable it for six hours.

                        Morning all

Windy here today and lots of rain earlier, though it's clearing up now and the sun is out.

It never ceases to amaze me Shiney how selfish and self entitled people can be. God forbid they'd have to park a bit further on and actually walk for a few minutes.

Hope your builders finish soon Loli and the results are worth the upheaval.

                        Wishing all poorly people well.

                        Have a great day
