      Morning all

Heavy drizzle here and doesn't look like clearing up anytime soon so I'm glad I got the grass cut yesterday.

Your kitchen is looking lovely Woo, even if you've got the aches and pains to show for all your hard work.

Hope you get your lazy day Moyra.

Pleased you had a lovely day Zigs and that the show went well.

Think I'll have a tidy up of the greenhouse today if it does keep raining.

      Have a great day everyone

          Aloha everyone,

A good idea, Woo :blue thumb:. That's what I'm doing.

I've been to the village hall at 7 a.m. to open it for some hirers, shown them all the technical things, gave them instructions about parking and showed them how to lock up. I'm having to do it again on Sunday for a London cycle club that are hiring the hall for their big cycle road race. I do the early openings as nobody else is up at that time!

I've got orders for beans and rhubarb for this evening so shall have to pick those and hope that I don't get bitten even more by the mozzies .

Then it's just a bit of mowing (only three of the lawns) and trimming the edges, a couple of events to start organising, a meeting to chair, shopping to do, things to get ready for our guests at the weekend, helping Mrs S get things ready for the big show this weekend, cooking to do, and going to the bridge club in the evening. So not a lot, really. :heehee:

Both my foot and neck are still improving but all my mozzie bites are driving me crazy!

Keep well and have a great day

          Aloha!

              Good morning everyone,

              How we doing?:blue thumb:

Shiney...I see you took it easy yesterday then:phew::biggrin:..Good to hear your foot and neck are getting there but aren't mozzie bites infuriating:rolleyespink:..you could try a few drops of Lavender Oil mixed with water and spray yourself all over ,'they' say that can work:thumbsup: You'll be walking around smelling like a fairy but people would understand;)

It's taken it's time getting light this morning, even the 'girls' have only just got up:chicken:...I don't remember the nights and mornings 'taking in' so early on , maybe it's just my memory:scratch:

I've just had to fill the dogs outside water dish up because there was a Stoggie rattling it around the garden, they're not as daft as they make out...

Another cuppa is in order before I head for the coal face:thumbsup:

              Waves to all, (where's @Hairy Gardener ?)

Take it easy everyone, have a great day and take care:SUNsmile:

Lolli, light switched on here too!
Agree about the feel of autumn arriving quite early. We have had a number of those misty days and there is also that general sense of decay.
Shiney there is a product from Avon (as in ding dong Avon calling) called "Skin so soft". It is commonly used by guys as an insect repellant. It's not in a flowery bottle, so can be used discretely!
                http://www.scotsman.com/news/scotla...s-midge-repellent-for-royal-marines-1-1403152
If it doesn't work you will have skin that looks ten years younger surrounding your insect bites:snork:
Hope Woo and Moyra are all rested up. Lovely pic again Woo!
Nice to hear from Eve again, hope all is well with your Dad!
Hopefully HG and FC are :snooze:, after all that stressful work.
Zigs will be:snooze: After:yahoo::ccheers: Celebrating the well deserved rhubarb win and around good show!
Sat here posting, in what sounds like a War Zone, We have beech nuts that are falling onto stone, from full grown beech trees, sounds like sniper shots!
Have a good day all, off to find my tin helmet to brave passing under those trees!

                  Morning early people :)

No, i'm up today, worn out yesterday though

Good point Aden, are we getting another mast year like last year? I noticed a hell of a lot of beech nuts on a tree recently.

Last year was the only one I remember being hit several times by falling acorns :yikes:

Have a good day everyone :)

                    Aloha everyone,

Nice and sunny here this morning.

Loli, I can't use Lavender Oil as the smell makes me feel sick. Perfumes, or perfumed oil sprays, have the same effect, apart from L'eau de Curry :lunapic 130165696578242 5:.

As an approximation, after the solstice, we lose about 2 minutes of daylight per day (a little bit more oop norf than darn souf :heehee:) so it may seem slow but is noticeable each week!

                    Have a great day

                    Aloha!

Beautiful sunny day here, shame I have to spend the morning cleaning a friend's holiday cottage for her. Never mind, extra euros to spend in the garden centre for doing it. Better get a move on then.

                        Good morning Woo and all,

Woo...What a beautiful sunrise:wub2: the sun is up here too and although it's just 7 degrees it doesn't actually feel too bad, probably because I was expecting to feel colder.I know exactly what you mean about the tree,I have an old Pear tree that looked very sorry for itself so I thought I'd put it out of it's misery a couple of years back but when I started I felt bad so thought I'd use it as a feeding station for the birds.I have been thinking maybe it is time to go but look at him now,I know he's not the best looking tree but I just can't do it:doh:

                          Aloha everyone,

Woo, I thought that they were supposed to demolish Kingsnorth . Lovely photo :blue thumb:

Another sunny day today  although the sunshine was disrupted a bit by 10 minutes of rain yesterday. It's still so dry here that I'm having to use the sprinkler on the veggies twice a week.

I cut Mrs Shiney's hair yesterday and worked on it in the lovely morning sunshine (it was a little bit nippy) and the butterflies kept hovering around us. Mainly Painted Lady and Peacock. The Painted Lady have been covering our patio every day for months. They seem to love sunbathing on it but I don't remember seeing any Peacocks on the patio. Both of them are all over the V. Bonariensis and we can easily just pick them up. :)

The guest house that we stay at in the Lake District is reducing the rooms they are having available to let out and, from next year, the room we have won't be available. We prefer a room on the ground floor and they won't have any . It's a great pity because it's a lovely place. So I've spent hours of research on the internet to find a replacement. I know a lot of the places but few have ground floor rooms or the qualities we prefer. Apart from the standard that we want the room must be on the ground floor, have a shower and not have a firm mattress (my back can't take firm mattresses, even with the mattress topper that I take with me). All of the hoteliers that I know up there are retired, but they will put out feelers for us.

We'll be up there later this year and shall look in on the short list that I've made. I've already had a chat with the owners. :blue thumb: They also have to have what our friends want as we always go up there with friends.

I'll do a little bit of pottering in the garden today as my foot and neck are improving gradually.

Keep well and have a great day

                          Aloha!

                          Hi all
Very jealous of your pear tree Lolimac, have 2 and a Quince never yet seen fruit, 5 years and counting. Had embryonic sets then nothing, so it must be conditions.
Woo, what can I say the sunrise/sunset master!
Good luck with the holiday research Shiney.
LiF hope you have time today to spend your hard earned euros at the garden centre, do you have anything in particular in mind that you want?
Good day to Moyra, Zigs, HG and FC
OH off colour today so pottering in garden inbetween ministering tea and sympathy! Got 4 nuts on hazel hedge first crop ever! So fighting off squirrels to get them to harvest!
