@CanadianLori Not quite. :) The dealing machines deal the cards according to the random arrangement that a computer has made (humans call that arrangement shuffling the cards :snork:). The computer sends the programme of the arrangements to the dealing machines around the country and the machines actually deal the cards. For each of the venues (20+) each dealing machine will deal about 50 packs of cards at a rate of appox. 7 seconds per pack. That 7 seconds includes putting all the cards into holders (called boards) pictured below.

    upload_2017-3-20_10-54-56.jpeg

That way everyone in the country can play exactly the same cards, therefore making it a level playing field (sorry about the mixed metaphor).

The scoring is recorded electronically so that there are instant comparisons between players. This has replaced the old fashioned way of recording on paper and then having to collate everything and give scores according to all the comparisons.

This saves the administrators an enormous amount of work and allows the competitiors to have an, almost, instant result instead of waiting a week for the scores to be collated and evaluated.

    :phew:

All this modern technology certainly makes things easier and more interesting but it's not cheap. We have it for our club and it cost £8,000. Fortunately I managed to get a community grant for some of it. :blue thumb:

But then I won't have time to dance :snorky: actually there's one worse than that, if I have too much beer, I start singing. And I cannot sing. Really:redface:

It's Ozzy not Ozzie or even Ozy -although Ozy, short for Ozymandias, might be worth a quote:-

                            Aloha everyone,

There was just a light touch of frost on the car this morning but it's beautifully sunny now.

The mower should be back this morning from its little holiday in the convalescent home. It needed a new break pad on the recoil as it had got worn out over the last 23 years. :)

Mrs Shiney is off to give a flower arranging demo to the W.I. this morning. :dbgrtmb:

Keep well and have a great day
