    Good day
Another cold, cloud day but the weather guessers have told us that the clouds will part for a brief time and allow the sun to beam on us.

Some of my friends (8 gals) want to do the Zoom today. Guess I'd better get the app downloaded - been putting off adding it to my computer as this laptop is an older model and I really hate the feeling that I may overwhelm it! :rolleyespink:

And I'll carry on with a bit of sewing. I've got a new machine accessory arriving in the next few days and am looking forward to learning how to master it. It is a double fold finder foot for the coverstitch.

Have a lovely day all :coffee:

Hi folks, I think I have fallen to the dreaded lurgy. I haven't been anywhere or had contact with anyone other than Steve and he has been careful because of me. So it can only be off the Tesco delivery items. Steve was initially wiping them all down with bleach but stopped and I was putting them away. I have a headache, sneezing, earache and a tight chest and tummy pains but it could just be a common cold.
Have a good day, take care and stay safe and well. God bless. :wub2:

        Good day
It is still pitch here but it is 27f so will probably be a mild day. Mild meaning hovering or above freezing.

I'm not quite sure what I will get up to today. I sewed the jumper for myself yesterday and though the topstitchin is a little brutal, I'm not ripping out the stitching as turns out I shouldn't have bothered in the first place as you can't see it! I don't have any other fabric cut out yet. Hopefully the attachment for the coverstitch will arrive today and I can finish the top I was working on for Sam. I'll probably land up spending time just figuring out which fabric to sew into what pattern!

Jim's lunch is in the fridge and he has just come down for a coffee. He and Sam sip coffee and sit looking a bit like Zombies until they've been up a few hours :heehee: well, at separate times. Sam won't be up for a few hours yet.

Have a lovely day all :coffee:

          Hi everyone, I'm back!!!:yahoo:

Hope you're all Ok. I have a lot of catch up reading to do!!

Thanks for letting everyone know that I hadn't disappeared through choice Vicky.:cat-kittyandsmiley::)

Winds were so strong during the storm...it was scary stuff!.

Everything went about 3 am Sunday morning, when a huge Oak tree came crashing down just past our house, severing the overhead cables this only effected the 6 houses up our lane . The whole wider area then suffered a power cut a few hours later 7am ish....this included my sister's place too.

We spent Sunday evening/night by candlelight, despite it getting down to -2 fortunately our house remained....warm ( ish) ,with the addition of an extra duvet, snuggle blankets, gloves ,2 pairs of socks and a single camping gas cylinder burner for food and drinks. Electric came back on Monday afternoon, so about 30 hrs without it. Phone and internet was finally back up and running about 2hours ago.

Still , trying to keep to my positive outlook on life....it could've been worse..and happened on Christmas Day!!!:xmasyay:

We are all electric here , so the gas wasn't cut @shiney . We do have a big portable gas heater, but we didn't actually need it this time. The power cut didn't bring the phones/ internet down..electric. cables are underground. These overhead cables were broken by the tree.

I do have a very ancient mobile phone, but the battery drains really fast so as it couldn't be recharged it was kept off to save for emergency use only.
What an end to an horrendous year!! Things can only get better :dbgrtmb:

......forgot to add, fences down ,the covering on my big ' house wall' cold frame ripped, my big container that stores all my unused flower pots was blown over, despite being weighted, and the pots scattered to kingdom come......still finding them now! Taller shrubs snapped and some staking dislodged, and potted plants toppled over and found in unexpected places.

                Aloha everyone,

@moyra It sounds more like you have a common cold. It's not very often you would hope you have a cold! Wish you better :grphg:

                Welcome back @Upsydaisy :dbgrtmb:

We had problems last night with no internet on Mrs Shiney's computer. It was no use using my computer as it doesn't have the links and passwords for her sites and my computer isn't linked to the printer and she needed to print things up. Fortunately, this morning a good GC friend sorted it out for us by taking me through a load of checks. I'd already done the usual switching off, unplugging etc but to no avail. It turned out to be a rather unusual fault. Apparently, likely due to a Windows update, the router had been told that there are two ethernet connections to it (both our computers) so it doesn't really need both! :rolleyespink: So it cut one computer off. :wallbanging: It took a long time to find that fault but all corrected now. :blue thumb:

I got some more tidying up done today. :)

                Keep well

                Aloha!

Hi Moyra, if your breathing gets any worse then tell your son to ring 111 or NHS line, you’ve got the same symptoms as my in laws who had covid, drink plenty hot fluid and take paracetamol, have you got a temperature? Big hugs :grphg:

Yes, @Upsydaisy heating is a wonderful thing! It is forecast to hover around freezing during the day here so it is a bit of a heat wave..

Taking Sam for a blood test, then bandage change/wound care and we're done until 2021 :)

I've got my order forms ready for seeds that I want and also a proper list of the seeds I collected this past fall and planning where they will all go is always fun. Using a pencil and of course an eraser as I keep changing my mind about placement.

Have a lovely day all and Happy New Year! Now :coffee:Tonight :ccheers:

Had to go into town today to accompany my brother for his 2nd and final bit of surgery at the hospital. We passed a young woman walking up the main road wearing shorts and a jumper...temp was 0C!! Coming back home at 12:30 passed a middle age man out walking his dog up our lane along with his wife...he was wearing shorts too:thud:, plus sandals with no socks!!!:yikes::yikes: Mind you it had warmed up a bit to 1C!!!

Am I mad or are they????.... second thoughts don't answer that:heehee:
