Good morning all, how's everyone doing today?

Not feeling a 100% this morning so not planning on doing much. I have a friend of many, many years visiting this morning..so that will lift my spirits!!

Then after lunch I will sort out the Xmas decorations ready to put just a few up in our snug lounge at the weekend.:decoratetree:

Hope you have lovely day...and don't forget to book your jabs if you haven't already done so!!:blue thumb:

Hi @Upsydaisy, I could eat all those chocolate Santas my self

I'm sorry you are not feeling too good, and I hope you feel better now that your friend has visited.

I've had a letter to go and have my booster but it is in a place about 25 miles away and I don't want to go all that way on my own in the middle of winter. I don't like to ask anyone to come with me, people have enough problems of their own. I'll wait until the new year. I always feel more positive in January

Have a great time decorating your snug !

Thanks Michael and yes my friends visit has done me the power of good.

I'm so sorry about your appointment...that's a very long way away!!:yikes:
I can say though with a high degree of certainty that people around you would be only too willing to accompany you and be supportive....wish I was near you as I know that I definitely would.
Is there a contact number you can ring for advice, I find it incredible that they expect you to make such a journey....especially in Winter!!

Help yourself to the Choccy Santas.......I'Il see if I can find you another Christmas treat for tomorrow.:biggrin:xx

I'm glad you feel better @Upsydaisy :blue thumb:

It's a stupid setup here, you have to go to a place in the same county as you live, even if there is somewhere nearer just down the road but in a different county. The boundaries are in such daft places.
I'll go in January, a few weeks won't matter and I'll ask a friend to come with me. We could have lunch somewhere on the way.

Thank you for the treats  xx I hope you will have some too ...

              Aloha everyone,

I hope you feel better this morning.

I put my back out the other day and have been struggling to do much (no gardening ) but am improving. I needed help getting out of the car but, at least, I was able to get into it on my own :blue thumb:. I'm able to still do a lot of cooking :phew:

Apart from that everything is fine here in Shineyland.

              Keep well

              Aloha!

Good morning everyone, sorry to hear of all the ailments causing problems......must be the time of year, as we're all rushing around trying to tidy up the garden and prepare for the festive celebrations.

                Take a break and enjoy a treat.

Good luck with your appointment on Tuesday @moyra I hope it will be successful.

Hope your back will be better soon @shiney, it's very debilitating when your back is painful.

Lovely biscuits @Upsydaisy, I hope you are feeling better today.

It's so dark and dreary today, I've been hibernating ... started cleaning the bathroom first thing but gave up lol :noidea:

Good afternoon Michael and thank you ,yes I am feeling much better. Even my dodgy leg / knee is not too bad due,I think, to this mild weather ( or maybe I'm just getting use to it now.:dunno:

Gathered up a seasonal 'bouquet' from the garden to place on my parents grave as it would've been Mums 91st birthday today

...Excuse the yellowing Skimmia leaves...its just had a dose of Epsom Salts ( actually I quite like the markings:heehee:) IMG_20211203_105219_hdr.jpg

That's a lovely bouquet for your mother's resting place @Upsydaisy. I like the pattern on the Sikmmia leaves, and the splash if yellow adds a bit of brightness to it.
My mother would have been 100 yrs old this Boxing Day but I'm not taking anything to the grave, it's about 20 miles away and I don't want to drive there in mid winter.

Thank you Michael, it was a case of trying to see what foliage would make a nice combination. I try to do this rather that buy a bouquet from the shop at this time of year because a frost will kill the tender blooms really quickly...these on the other hand are toughened up from being out in the garden and having already been subjected to minus temps, so they should last a bit longer.:fingers crossed:

No definitely best not to drive that distance at this time year...she'll be in your heart and thoughts wherever you are on Boxing Day.
I am fortunate at having my parents close by...just a 10 min drive away, they are just a minute away from what was there last shared home.

                          Good morning......how are you all.

                          I've just realised that I haven't posted....I selected my pic...and then...well I don't know!!:noidea:

While I was up at the cemetery yesterday I decided to ditch the planter that we placed there when Mum passed away as it was cracked and crumbling. Today I'm going to research into which plants (will probably have two pots ..one for Summer and one for Winter) would provide a nice bit of colour without having to keep going over to water them. My parents resting place is in full sun....so drought tolerant is definitely required!!

The other problem is that so far whatever I've grown there has been badly attacked by Vine Weevil.....horrid creatures!!

Anyway apart from all the other normal chores ....oh and not forgetting the Christmas decorations!, that's my plan for the day. What are your plans?

Good morning Upsydaisy, well the weather here is horrible, blustery and raining, so just doing my chores so far, hubby is on his works Xmas meal tonight so home alone tonight, I’ll probably have a drink and watch a Xmas movie. Have you got your plants in pots Upsydaisy??.

Good morning @Upsydaisy @Flumpy and everyone else

What a shame about the vine weevils, could you plant something in the ground ?
We have put some bulbs around Beryl's gravestone, she is buried with her parents and grandparents and we (her niece and myself) are thinking of also putting some small perennials or little shrubs around the stone too.
We were told not to plant further out from it because there is no curb stone and the attendants go around with a strimmer to mow the grass.

My parents' grave is the same but both theirs and Beryl's are about 20 miles away so you are lucky to have yours near where you live.

I hope your plans work out @Upsydaisy, I have no plans for today. It is so cold I may just go back to sleep :heehee: unless the sunshine entices me out somewhere

Enjoy your movie @Flumpy, but why can't you go with your husband ?
                            are wives banned ?

Morning Michael and @Flumpy ...they were both cremated and are in shared plot...it's just a square with one paving slab ontop. We have a headstone with a little pot for fresh flowers and in front of that we had the planter (all standing on the paving slab). There is no open ground for any individual plantings just turfed pathways that get regularly cut. IMG_20211203_112626_hdr.jpg
