Morning Lori, yes we are lucky and have 3 cheap rate electricity periods everyday.4--8 am, 2-4 pm and 10:30-12am. At night the whole house rate is supplied at a reduced rate......but I'm not getting up to reap the benefits!!:snooze:

    Have a lovely day.

Sunday.jpeg I am already enjoying it watching the raindrops on the leaves and the birds are chirping away bathing. Joy!

                Good morning, how's everybody doing?

We had a very wet day yesterday in the end so the garden is truly revitalised.....perhaps I should stand out in the rain all day too!:heehee:

Doing my first bus journey over to see my brother in his new place this morning, it's a trial run so hubs is coming too.

I have 2 choices...(a) one bus ride or ( b) two bus rides. Both have pro's and con's...

                (a) Buses don't run very often and at the end of the ride there is a walk under a narrow railway bridge that has heavy traffic passing through it...and only a narrow path then a short walk up a hill.
However the bus stop is only a 5 min walk from our house and one bus saves worrying about catching the connecting bus.

                (b) One bus into town and then another out again giving us only a 10 changeover time slot, the town is not our local one but one further away and traffic can be slow moving so will have the worry of missing the next bus.
However the bus stops right outside my brother's new place ,so no busy bridge to walk under or hill to climb.

Both bus rides will take an hour each so no difference in travel times.

Today we are giving choice (a) ago...despite the bridge and hill this is my preferred choice.. if my dodgy leg is behaving itself.

So I'm off to catch the 9:30 bus, let the adventure begin!!!:heehee:

Have a fab day everyone, and if you don't hear from me then I'm probably on a bus still!!

Have a safe journey Upsy and R. I wouldn't fancy either option. Haven't been on a bus regularly since 1978 ... except for a trip to Blackpool c1980 and then the coach broke down!

Don't know what's going on here today ... haven't heard from anybody!

                  Have a peaceful day all.

Have a good journey @Upsydaisy, I hope option A works well for you ...

I take a bus now if I'm going more than about 6 or 7 miles. I only use the car to go shopping or to a garden centre to buy plants, compost etc. I don't like going in the car on my own since Beryl died (it makes me feel isolated) but on the bus there are other people who can chat to you or just give a smile. It makes me feel as if I'm still part of the world.

It also saves contending with idiots who think they own the road, it saves money with my travel pass, and it saves pollution, and it also gets me out of paying car park charges for parking in narrow spaces where you can hardly open the car door without knocking the car parked next to you.

I suppose there are drawbacks but I've decided to think positively

                      Good day
I have only been on a bus a handful of times in the last 40 years but I always enjoyed the "people watching" and scenery. No needing to concentrate on the road, just sit and observe :)

That said, I've got 5 gals carpooling with me in a couple of weeks and that can be stressful when everyone has a different idea about what directions to use!

It is mild right now and expected to stay mild. The heat wave is over. And it does look like rain might happen so I plant to putter inside.

Have a lovely day all. Cheers :coffee:

                        .....I'm back!!!

Option A was perfect :dbgrtmb:...all went to plan and even the walk under the railway bridge was absolutely fine.
It was very relaxing and being that bit higher up the view into the passing gardens was brilliant !! ;):heehee:

Not sure if I will even bother with option B.

Brother has settled well and his 2 bedroomed ground floor apartment is so ideal. It's a brand new assisted living complex with a restaurant for his main meals , communal lounge and gardens and hairdresser.
He has patio doors that open out to his own patio area which is opposite the communal garden.

I myself wouldn't mind living there in years to come should the need ever arise.

I am really impressed and now that I have done the journey ( although of course hubs will also take me in the car too ,20 mins, but when he has other things to do I can easily go alone ) I feel we can all relax now knowing full well he is happy and well cared for with 24/7 support and plenty of company if he wants it.
                        So very happy for him.:yahoo:

That is fantastic @Upsydaisy ! I'm am glad to hear your brother is safe and in a nice place. :)

Anytime I rode a bus, I made sure to get a window seat and enjoyed looking at all of the homes and gardens along the journey.

The only time I was uncomfortable was when I was sat enjoying the view and a fellow and his mate sat in the seat in front of mine and immediately started complaining about there being no leg room. I couldn't help turning all red because the fellow beside was a little person.. sorta funny, not, sorta ... :rolleyespink:

Hi all, our Virgin network as only just been fixed, it covered quite a big area, it encouraged me to ready my book anyway and also watched a funny dvd Dumber & Dumber :roflol:. Upsydaisy so glad your brother has settled well, it sounds like a nice place to me and he will have plenty company :dbgrtmb:
Victoria any signs of the builders today and the steel construction?

it’s been raining heavy here today and more to come tomorrow, but my garden is loving it and my lawn looks so so green :spinning:

                              Good morning !!

We had a Owl keeping us awake last night, it decided to sit in the tree by our open bedroom window and hoot away to its hearts content.

I have a friend popping round for a catch up this morning so that will be lovely.

Then I must knuckle down to some gardening this afternoon as I didn't do much yesterday apart from doing a couple more planters.

Hope you all have a great day. :)

How strange Upsy ... we had an Owl hooting away last evening too!

It is a day of mixed feelings for me today. It is eight years since my sister peacefully died, it is eight years since Hoover Van Dyson arrived (I always believe she sent him) and it is Chere Khan's birthday ... she is a teenager, 13! Her mummy's owner didn't know the exact day although she got five babies in a sandwich bag found by her dogs at the rubbish bin, but we agreed on the date. As we had no idea how old Van was (our Vet's nurse said five years, I said 18 months to two years, he was small and thin) I decided he could share the same date. I think he is 10 today.

The metal support for the roof arrived yesterday but I think our workers are on another small job so I don't think they will be here today.

I plan on tidying up some shrubs and plants today.

Have a lovely one whatever you do.
