Something funny. Yesterday, I am talking to my neighbor who was telling me about her friend who lives just down the street and could use some of my hardy geraniums. So she goes on and on describing where the house is, down the road to the right past the creek, has a white door and a fence in the front. And I say to her, Oh you mean the house next to the Two huge big tall Electrical Towers. She says yes. So I say, well lead with that honey. LOL.

@Topbird , I am curtailing my outdoor potted annuals this year, keeping down to two or three. Last year, us also, traveled too much. My good neighbor agreed to water all. Don't want to do that to him again, he has too much to do with his wife who is really bad with dementia. Usually I position gallon jugs filled with water at certain spots so easy to just water the pot.

Good evening, the dry start turned wet so we didn't get much done outside. The main job was setting Rat traps and filling the bait boxes because I saw a rat skipping across the lawn first thing this morning. Haven't seen any evidence of one since we stopped putting out bird food last year.

We are still trying to catch up on other jobs in the garden and on plots but some progress is being made, todays wet is a bit frustrating but the ground has been surprisingly dry on top already. Hope to get some mulch for the garden soon, a bit late in the season but better late than never.

Here we are - a month away from the longest day - and I had to put lights on just after 6pm, and turn the heating on, and put some longs and a fleece on. Heavy rain and thunderstorms this afternoon and it feels as if the temp has dropped 10C.
Still - I got all my jobs done this morning and I now have half a dozen pelargoniums and some lobelia in the logstore ready to pop in the chimney pots once they've hardened off a bit.
I only do the 2 chimney pots. That way I can leave a couple of watering cans full of water and ask my friend just to tip one of those in each week when we're away.
I used to do big hayracks of annuals and loads of pots, but that was at a previous house when I had a micro-irrigation system rigged up and a much younger and more garden-oriented neighbour to keep an eye on everything.

@Allotment Boy - I haven't finished my mulching either. Done about two thirds of it. Gets more difficult once everything is up in the borders so it'll be a piece meal job now when the soil is wet enough and I'm in there cutting back etc.

Must Chelsea Chop some plants this week....

Evening all, beautiful photos @Ergates, very envious. OH tells me that when he went over many years ago, the alcohol was already very expensive compared to the UK so his money didn't go very far!
Taken it easy today, the massage was very thorough and much needed so didn't do much until after lunch when we had to re-attach the porch downpipe to the water butt as rain was forecast much to my dismay. Not sure if my concreting will survive a heavy downpour but there's nothing I can do about it. I've always enjoyed DIY, even if I'm not very good at it.
Our runner beans are up! All seven of them! I'm still collecting loo rolls to sow some more now and will sow the French Beans as soon as I get the opportunity. Haven't seen a great many slugs/snails around but then, haven't done a slug hunt lately. Perhaps I ought to get some cheap beer in just in case.
That's really peculiar about the TV @Dovefromabove, I can't think the mice were involved somehow.
Congratulations @Ladybird4 - always nice to win something!
@redstar , your neighbour reminds me of my SIL, she goes on and on and on when trying to tell you about something, you have to be prepared for a very long phone call when she rings - and a lot of patience.
Don't think I'll be late going to bed tonight, hope we don't get any thunderstorms to wake me up.

Flash floods in the Needham Market area of Suffolk @Topbird, with folk getting stuck in their cars.

Night night folks … sleep tight. :snooze:

That's happened before at Needham Market @Dovefromabove. We go to opera evenings there and there was a flash flood the last time we went last year.

Glad we're on a bit of higher ground then - still raining but the garden can always use it so I don't mind.

              Good Morning everyone.

I have a seat in a sheltered back porch area so I’m sitting there with my coffee before work with the gentle rain coming down. I expect the slugs are out on force and my beer traps will be very diluted but hey ho.

I hope everyone is doing ok. I’ll catch up later or tomorrow.

Absolutely hoeing it down, so why on earth are we going to stand on a football pitch for several hours watching a concert?

                    Good morning all :coffee1:
                    Because it’s The Boss @Punkdoc :yes:Enjoy!
Its wet here too … I expect the slug pubs have been diluted. We’ll need to get more beer!

I’ve checked the traps this morning … no mice in them for the first time since Saturday … have we got the lot? Time will tell. We’re not sure how they’re getting in … we know they’ve been in the greenhouse and ndn says when they came back from Australia after Christmas they were in their garage but their cats dealt with them. Timing-wise that all fits in with the other ndn (slightly reclusive and eccentric daughter of deceased elderly chap) having emptied their garage which was stuffed to the gunnels with ‘stuff’ … I bet the mice were evicted and moved over here … now we know, we’ll keep on top of it with a belt and braces approach … that should sort it. Not entirely sure of their route into the house but mice are so tiny … they’ll find a way.

                      Morning all.

Yesterday we went to the SM for a few bits and Lidl for wine to take back to the UK. Also bought 3 more sacks of compost. Then I did potting on of the plants I'd bought, too wet to plant them, and strimming of the path to the old chicken house which acts as a garden shed. Too wet to mow.

Not raining at the moment but thundery showers are forecast. Not sure what I'll do today but some HW needs doing.
