    Good morning all,

Your MiL sounds a very positive minded person @Dovefromabove, which I’m sure will help her during any treatment. Sending my best wishes to you all.

Happy birthday to you @Punkdoc, hope you have a good day.:birthday:.

It’s fish and chip Friday for us today down at our local GC. Will need to go about 12 or they’ll sell out.

      Afternoon all.

A calm day today after yesterday's gale, but 100% cloud cover. The prolonged dry spell here goes on, so the watering can continues to earn its keep :)

Happy Birthday to @Punkdoc ! Your name is statistically unlikely to be Philip, but the age is correct at least...

Best wishes to the MIL @Dovefromabove

Enjoy your fish & chips @Blue arbour

I find the same thing @redstar . I get much less done in a day now compared to when I was working.

Hope you have a wonderful time with your Son and his Family @Busy-Lizzie

Best wishes to all, as usual.

Morning all, Friday. 72 degrees already. Rained last night.

Today I get to hear / view my Airbnb camera go crazy as the guests are working on leaving by 11AM. And hope at 11:10Am the cleaners arrive. Next guests arriving at 4PM today. 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, kitchen, living room, dining room, etc all have to be gone over. Towels washed, sheets, beds made etc. Fun.

Our generator is broken, today service guy coming over to fix, $$$$ hope not too much.

@Badly_Maintained --I keep in mind that verse in the Bible---"its a time to rest" so retirement is a time to rest. I for one earned it.

Just errands, food shopping, some garden stuff maybe. Need to buy more wine. Have a grand day all.

Good afternoon all, no showers (yet) here today so we are attacking the jungle of a garden, it has just got away from us this year and it seems to get harder each year! Tomatoes, aubergines, peppers and courgettes planted out, also a couple of melons but they are rather small.
Happy birthday @Punkdoc it's a long time since I tasted a decent sausage sandwich, you are making my mouth water!
So pleased to hear that MIL is making good progress @Dovefromabove.
Take care and have a good rest of the day everyone.

              Oooh that looks tempting @redstar
we’re home again … we’ve brought two bunches of lovely fat asparagus and a small quiche each home for our supper.

I’ve checked the slug pubs and it seems there are fewer slugs in our slug pubs … however it may be because ndn was going to get some Norfolk Nog and put slug pubs in their garden, so perhaps our slugs are going next door! However there was one mouse in the traps … seemed a tad bigger than the others … traps have been rebaited.

Good afternoon, all. Happy birthday, @Punkdoc, hope you’ve been having a good day. ( it’s OH’s birthday tomorrow)
Home safely yesterday, but I’ve been suffering from a sore throat and runny nose since the last night on the ship. Very annoyed as we are always very careful with hand hygiene, and waited for a quieter lift rather than cramming into ones which were already full. At least it didn’t disrupt the holiday, and the unpacking and laundry can wait!
The garden has gone mad while we were away. I thought we had got the buddleia and the lancastria under some sort of control, but evidently all we did was encourage new healthy growth! The mower will struggle with the no mow May grass, especially if it sinks into the ankle deep layer of moss! However the rhododendrons are looking magnificent. Even the couple I bought in B and Q some years ago have really put on a show this year. No variety listed on their labels, just ‘Red’, but they certainly are, and a very pretty red.
I will stagger out to take pictures when I’m feeling less groggy. Thanks for the identification of the Sorbus. Have seen loads on the drive back to Devon, they are very obvious when they are in flower.
Another couple of pictures from Norway, sorry if they are duplicates.

Evening all, I've been pottering round the garden today, putting new labels on the roses, doing some weeding and moving plants around. It is warmer than yesterday and the wind has dropped which is much more pleasant.

Happy Birthday to @Punkdoc, glad you enjoyed the concert. You probably needed a sausage sandwich this morning after that late night!

@Dovefromabove, Glad your MIL is doing well and feeling positive, she sounds just like my late Mum. Full of get up and go and just got on with things. She coped extremely well with the removal of a malignant melanoma on her forehead, even if I did have to drag her to the GPs in the first instance. Hope I will be as brave if I ever have to be.

13 hour shift sounds horrendous @AuntyRach, hope you get some downtime today.

That is such a shame @Ergates, hope you feel better soon.

Poppies are tough cookies @Badly_Maintained, they might just surprise you.

Enjoy your weekend with your son @Busy-Lizzie, hope the journey's not too bad.

@redstar, you know what they say, as soon as you retire, you wonder how you ever managed to go to work!

Well, I'd better go and put the dinner on - pork stirfry tonight, have a good evening all and enjoy your Bank Holiday weekend.

We spent the afternoon in the car, took just over 6 hours, 2 loo stops, sandwich for lunch. 1 1/2 hours of motorway, the rest was beautiful countryside, hills, fields, forests, fabulous views. Lots of traffic around Limoges, otherwise not much.

Just waiting for dinner, nearly ready.

Yes @Ladybird4 we remembered the courgettes … they look a bit hungry but they’ll ge fine as soon as they get their roots in the ground. :blue thumb:

That was a very good supper … I didn’t have the oomph to make hollandaise so I just poured melted butter over the asparagus.
