Evening all, a bit late on parade but it's been a busy day, starting with driving OH to the other side of town for a Covid jab, although I had declined mine this time round. We then had a coffee at the nearby GC but I was very good and didn't buy anything - my garden's stuffed and there isn't any room left! pottered around for an hour before lunch and then did another stint afterwards, including another quick dash to Screwfix for a down pipe adjuster - which didn't. It's now been adjusted by virtue of lots of Gorilla tape! I am so, so tired now, an early night for me I think.
Do hope Dove enjoys her concert - sounds good.
Glad @Ergates is feeling better, best wishes to her OH.
Hope you can cope with the noise levels @Busy-Lizzie!
We had good weather all day as well @AuntyRach, but it's raining now.
Beautiful view from your deck @Red star.
      Thanks for the 'card' @Ladybird4.
@Allotment Boy, We've got a snail who's climbed right up the window pane of the French Door, goodness knows what it hoped to find up there but now appears to be stuck. Do hope it doesn't intend to parachute over onto my poorly delphiniums.

Night all, 'see ' you tomorrow.

Good morning everyone. No visible golden orb in the sky this morning - as my brother says 'It's always up there, just hidden by the clouds,'
The bees are very busy in the rhododendron flowers and a lttle blue tit has been dancing up and down and right to left on the telephone cable outside the house.

            Good morning all :coffee1:
The concert was absolutely wonderful … and the evening was made even better by meeting up with an old friend who we’d somehow lost touch with. We also joined the queue to walk into the church next to the musical director of our choir and his partner so introduced them to my OH and had a chat … and we were able to give a lift home to someone who lives near to us … I recognised her and knew she didn’t drive so enquired … she had been crossing her fingers she could find a taxi but as it was a Saturday night in the city centre thought it might mean a bit of a wait, so was very grateful.
I was also able to have a chat with Alan Gotto, a reknowned harpsichord maker and the husband of the founder of the Early Music Centre where I worked … sadly she has no short term memory and requires carers, but her memory of the old days at the Centre is really good so Alan will pass on a message from me which he said will mean a lot and make her very happy,
            So a really good evening.
Now we need to rouse ourselves as OH is working today…
Have a good day folks. :)

              Hi all

Wet and miserable, garden jobs mounting up.
Sorry if people think this is over sharing, but I have always found it helpful. I have over the last 20 years been on a powerful cocktail of drugs for severe depression, but have gradually been reducing / stopping them in more recent times. This year I have been coming off another one, and am now down to chopping up the tablets into tiny bits. I am aware that I am getting some withdrawal symptoms, but am pushing on.
This might mean over the next few weeks that I will become absent from here, so now you know why, if it happens.
I am told that the last bit of the withdrawal can be unpleasant.

Yesterday was blustery, cold wind eventually turning to heavy rain.

The family all completed the charity event. Apparently they found it very hard going, the sea was extremely lumpy which made swimming difficult, then the cold wind didn't help in the coastal path run. When I met up with them they were very quiet, tired and comparing strained muscles etc. One competitor was taken away in an ambulance with hypothermia and although there were 240 entrants quite a few were forced to drop out so my bunch felt very pleased with themselves that they actually completed the course.(Character forming) was how my daughter described it. Hmmmm!
I prefer to stick to ambling around a nicely mown Village Green with the dog, quite characterful enough for me.
Today is a recovery day. We are going into Charlestown for lunch.

                      Good morning,

Grey and wet here today, with thunder storms forecast for this afternoon. I’m glad I managed to get the dahlia tubers into their pots yesterday. I’ve still got some annuals to pot up, (pelargoniums and begonias) but they can wait a bit.

Your evening out sounds lovely @Dovefromabove, and seeing so many friends will have made it even better.

                      Wishing you well @Puncdoc.

Congratulations to your family @Goldenlily26, they’ve done very well. I agree with you, though, and prefer ambling :).

                      Have a good Sunday everyone.

Amble to a lovely country pub, a pint [ or two ] of a decent ale, with a nice homemade pie, that would be my definition of heaven.
If I was being really greedy, could I ask for a change of government [ sorry, wrong place ]

                            Morning all.

A very half-hearted shower overnight (no puddles or anything), so I was busy with the watering can again this morning. It is becoming concerningly dry around here this last couple of weeks, although I will probably regret tempting the weather by saying that soon enough. :)

Stunning photos from your cruise @Ergates . I hope you are feeling much better now, and that your OH enjoyed his Birthday yesterday.

Glad you enjoyed the concert last night @Dovefromabove .

Best wishes to @Punkdoc as he battles to reduce his meds. Better days lie ahead for you I hope.

Hopefully everyone is enjoying their Bank Holiday weekend. Stay safe out there folks.

Morning all - very disturbed weather this weekend - heavy rain at times and a few thunderstorms forecast.
Very chilly yesterday - had to put the heating on late pm - and I feel so sorry for all those with events planned over this bank holiday weekend. Drove through a neighbouring village yesterday trying to hold a bit of a fete and vintage car rally. Not many attending and those that were there looked cold and wet all hunched up in waterproofs and thick layers.

@Punkdoc - best wishes and lots of strength to you over the coming weeks. I hope things work out ok but - please - no politics. We're going to get more than our share of that over the coming months, both here and in the states!

@Dovefromabove - glad you had a good evening but sorry to read you're still catching mice. Quite a little community there by the sounds of it. Hopefully you've now evicted them from inside the house.
My slug traps have been effective at collecting a lot of little slugs - the ones which are about 1 cm long. Could do to top the traps up really but we're forecast heavy rain again this pm so doesn't seem much point.
I've come across a recipe for homemade slug attractant - a mix of flour, sugar, yeast and water. Might try that when the Guinness runs out - would certainly be cheaper than buying more beer and I won't have to watch the pained expression on OH's face when I fill the traps.

@Goldenlily26 - well done to your son and daughter for completing their event. My hairdresser and her husband participate in various Ironman and mega marathon events. He recently (February?) completed running a marathon a day for 5 days in Nthn Sweden in extreme cold conditions, camping in huts and bothys each night and carrying all his rations and stuff in a rucksack. He's also done the multi-marathons in the desert.

I'm afraid I just don't get it at all. She cries with fear and nerves every time at the start of her events. I know they get a sense of achievement when they finish but I still find myself asking WHY? I'll join you for the amble and pub lunch...
