I did sleep well - till 8am. Then I lay awake, contemplating getting up, then all of a sudden, it was 10am!! Managed to sleep through the din of workmen. NDBO has now erected a high fence. Wonder how our ND neighbours feel about that one?
As a result of oversleeping, we are late with our tip trip!
As others have said, @Obelix-Vendée, those gardens look superb. Hope you take lots of pics for us please.
    Welcome to the world, Skylar.

Oh Lordy @lizzie27 Our dining room floor has an ominous creak and dip by the fireplace. It’s been the same ever since we moved in but I am convinced that one day someone is going to go through it

A very successful tip trip with lots of things I'd been itching to see the back of (rusty pizza oven, anyone? No, I didn't think so either!)
Then we went to a local GC with rather a lot of nice outdoor furniture (we never even got to the plants). He eyed up a bench, which he said would look good on the patio. It would, but the patio chairs are a lot more comfy. Then we moved on to lighting, pushed various 'try me' buttons (too garish, too bright, too dim), so moved swiftly to the cooking section. Were we prepared to spend £900 odd for a state of the art pizza oven? (having just thrown a rusty one away, that'll be a no)
And so to the dining section, where we both fell in love with a solid wood set that might look good at Buck palace. Unfortunately, he'd forgotten his wallet.
So we went to Aldi instead.

Good afternoon, volunteer day yesterday, just did the morning as we were going out last eve. Went to a production of Much ado about nothing. A bit too modern for my taste but made a change.
Allotments today, a bit mixed weather-wise but warmer than yesterday.

We are back from the Japanese garden. It is in th egrounds of what was once a very grand mansion that has now become a posh hotel and haute cuisine restaurant. It was still too cold for blossom except for one brave Korean peach - prunus persica, a couple of other unnamed cherries, a few camellias affected by last night's frost and a couple of magnolias. Lots of water, bridges and cloud pruning. I shall sort thru my pics to see if any are any good and post on the visits site.

I'd like to go back in a couple of weeks and see if the blossom has advanced at all.

Cold here, as mentioned, with a heavy frost last night but sunshine most of the day. However, this weekend and most of next week look set to be miserable so there won't be much gardening going on here.

I think I'm probably old enough to appreciate Shakespeare now @Allotment Boy. Having to study Hamlet and Coriolanus for A level really put me off tho I did like his sonnets.

I'd love an outdoor cooker and oven @Penny_Forthem and did think about a pizza oven but I only eat one about once a year so maybe not.

Have a lovely evening everyone and bon appétit. Baked salmon steaks with a home-made pesto crust for this family.

Hello everyone. I have had an enjoyable afternoon. I mooched around the shops before going to the Canasta venue. I had to go to the M&S Food Hall to pick up my online clothes shopping first. Lost one game and won another. The sun shone but there was no warmth whatsoever in it and I was quite chilled by the time I got home. I am looking forward to watching the first proper GW. tonight as I was getting a little fed up with the compilations of last seasons episodes.

Thank you for the reminder about GW @Ladybird4
I'd forgotten all about it, with the mix-up of a week that I've had. Basically running a day behind, having spent a day in hospital for tests, and another day dashing hither and thither trying to sort out computer issues, as well as trying to do things for Mrs F (arranging visits while I was in hospital), and not worry.
                I needn't have worried. She's improving.
                Enjoy your evening.

Oh @Fourmerkland I am really sorry to read about your OH but glad that she is improving. Try to get some 'me time' this weekend - even if its just a short spell.

Glad Friday evening has arrived - it’s been a tiring week. I’ll keep GW for another evening but pleased that’s back as it makes it feel like Spring!

I love a Japanese garden too @Obelix-Vendée - I’d love a tea house! Spring blossom and Autumnal Acers are two of my favourite things so I can understand why the Japanese celebrate both.

                    Have a cosy evening everyone.

In the Japanese garden where I volunteer, the main thing in flower is a large Edgeworthia, there are one or two camelia flowers, but then there is never that much flower as they go for structure over flower which they consider as ephemeral.

Good morning all. Rain and wind here, and next Monday will be again rather cold. I had a very busy week. New windows are fitted, and today, my friend and I must finish all around them. He is more like family to me, because I'm a godfather to his son. Well, pets are fed and I have time till eight o'clock to finish my tea and other things. Have a nice day you all.

A very good morning @Ante1 and all dropping by during the day. Its dry and very cold here so far - I could see my breath when I stood on the back step listening to the dawn chorus. Cricket is fed and has gone back to his bed next to the radiator. I'm just enjoying some cereals and my tea. Planning a quick and early trip to the closest GC to me. I have been invited to my friend's for afternoon tea tomorrow so I would like to take her a little plant as a 'thank-you'. Good excuse eh??
