Loved the Musee D’Orsay, but wasn’t too impressed with the Louvre. 25 years since I visited Paris. We have a pyracantha growing beside the shed. I hack it back every year which keeps it tidy. There is usually a nest in there every spring, and the berries are quite nice.
It’s been very dull all day, and finally rained in the afternoon. I used the time to set up my seed trays, and have planted lobelia, poppy, sunflower and hollyhock seeds. An odd mixture, but it all looks very neat and tidy. I’ve marked the rows with those wooden stirrers used for drinks. I’ll have to do another trip to the Ikea cafe to pick up some more! It would be much cheaper to buy some markers! It all took longer than I anticipated, so apart from that, all I’ve done is cook dinner, and file away today’s post - statement of council tax, which has gone up, and notification of the increase in our state pensions. The former has easily cancelled out the latter!

Hello there everyone. It has obviously rained a little in the night judging by my car roof this morning but I'm hoping at least for a dry day later. Today in 1943 my Mum and Dad were married. I will be cake making first thing and then some gardening. Good to read that you got your seeds started @Ergates. Is it today you will be returning home @Obelix-Vendée? I know you did tell us but I can't remember.

The Louvre was too busy for me when we visited and that was over 20 years ago. We went to Paris for a weekend for OH’s birthday every year for about 5-6 years in the early 90s. Lots of enjoyable memories of smoky jazz clubs in the early hours and the walking back along the Seine to our hotel. Museums and art galleries during the day. Not sure we have the stamina now, we’ve moved on to strolling around gardens, cups of tea and tucked up in bed by 10pm :heehee:

Good morning all. Dry here so the garden beckons until I have to get dressed up for a party. Off into Birmingham to celebrate my oldest son being 40. It’s a cocktail place so expensive but should be fun.

Not sure what we are up to today. The sun is peeping out at the moment but forecast is showers, Yesterday was dull and chilly again.

I’m working this morning but will be finished by lunchtime. You’ve reminded me, @Ergates , I want to go to IKEA. I want to have a look at their kitchen storage gadgets. I have a small under-counter cupboard which isn’t very user friendly. It’s too deep so if I want anything out of it, it’s a get on your knees and rummage in the dark job. Consequently it’s not used very efficiently and in our small kitchen space is valuable. I’m thinking of some sort of pull out thingummy-jig. Not sure I fancy Ikea today but will pencil in a visit next week. I’m sure there was something else on the “let’s try Ikea list” but I can’t remember what it was :what:

Was wondering on earth why you would want a single bed in the loft @lizzie27 but then I realised that it’s probably a loft conversion?

Hope everyone enjoys their Saturday, baby sitting, Parisian sightseeing (or journeys home), birthday parties and Kadai adventures. Hopefully no-one will be shouting at you today @Debs64

Good luck tackling your rambling rose @Ladybird4 I remember similar wrestles with a huge one we inherited here. Now long gone.

Morning everyone, we are at friends in N. Norfolk. They downsized to a bungalow at the end of last year, but have decided that they have made a mistake so are house hunting again! It's not a bad place, but their previous house was big and quite open plan. We are going to look at a property with them this morning before we set off for home.

Just finishing my cereal and coffee, and OH is watching highlights of F1 that he didn’t wake up in the night for. Dull and grey out, and the ground looks damp.
I know that feeling with low down cupboards, @Butterfly6. When OH re did our kitchen during lockdown, we went for drawers throughout. Only cupboards are the eye level ones. It has made it so much easier to retrieve stuff, although I do have to be careful not to overload the drawers. It has worked really well. We used to have a very nice Bosch fridge which actually had drawers. The inside of the door was flat, with none of the usual bottle and jar shelves. The drawers could be pulled out so that all the items at the back could be easily reached, I was so happy with it.
Sadly it was getting on, and didn’t fit into the new layout, and that style was discontinued. We now have a full height, regular style one. The freezer has drawers, and causes OH a lot of cussing trying to find things. That’s not just the fault of the freezer, he can’t find stuff when it’s right in front of him!
I’d love to go house hunting with a friend, @Allotment Boy! It’s not much fun looking for oneself, far too stressful.

Morning. Quite bright here, but that's set to change.
We watched the last part of Adolescence last night - not an easy watch. Will ask the G kids if it's been discussed at school.
After we have disposed of the pyracantha, we can pressure wash the patio and reset the base for the parasol (which wasn't used at all last year).
In short, in comparison to a lot of you, we have a rather ordinary day ahead!

                    Good morning all.

                    It's tipping with rain ☔

I like house hunting when it's for someone else @Allotment Boy. I hope they find something they like.

I'm babysitting. Think I'll be knackered later. I'm sure my children weren't so noisy and energetic! While I was carefully untangling Eleanor's long hair Charles painted his PJ's with blue and yellow blobs and sprayed them with loo spray! The loo spray is in a shut cupboard above the loo. He must have climbed on the loo!

Tea loaf cooked; gluten free Devil's food cake just taken out of the oven need a cuppa then I'm off out into the garden. Sun is bravely trying to break through. I think the sound of baskets/containers that you can put into kitchen cupboards is a great idea.

Morning folks. I’m between two 12 hour shifts so am planning a quiet day but I will be popping out to collect my shopping soon. I might make a cake later - just a ‘school’ sponge probably. I think Devil’s food cake is a rich chocolate cake @Penny_Forthem

Have a fab Saturday folks - catch you later.

@Penny_Forthem they are 4 and 6. The three older ones went to Paris with their parents. I have 14 grandchildren plus OH's two.

I'm back home now. On the way I stopped at the wonderful grocery store, fish, sea bream, sea bass and salmon are in the freezer and there are strawberries and cream for tonight. Got some fruit and veg too and slices of herby roast pork. @Obelix-Vendée knows it "Le Grand Frais".

The family had a good time in Paris and Daniel enjoyed the course on bone grafts for implants.
