Good evening all. The funeral went very well today and it was so nice meeting up with all my team. We have discussed having another Squash Ladies meal soon. When I got home I decided to crack on with defrosting my fridge/freezer and I have literally just got it plugged back in.
Loving the carbon copy of your message @Fourmerkland  It sounds as though your buddleja is quite ancient and hasn't had a regular pruning over the years. You could maybe try cutting one of the really tall branches really severely and see if it does regenerate. You might even found seedlings growing around. @Penny_Forthem I've got everything crossed here that the op goes ahead on Thursday for you.

Evening all, my, you've all been so busy. I can't keep up with you all.

Hugs to Penny as well and anybody else feeling poorly or grief stricken.

We're feeling absolutely stuffed, had a complimentary cream tea this afternoon and a 3 course meal tonight, oh my gawd, the calorie count!!!! I can't move. Actually OH had the three courses but I couldn't manage that, so just had a mains of cod with a crab and herb crust, crunched peas and mash, delicious. OH had a truffle something starter, fishermans pie followed by chocolate ganache with vanilla icecream - I did pinch the spoonful of that - for medicinal purposes you understand.

I've been awake since 5 am when I got up to take some paras but pleased to say the sore throat suddenly eased off within hours and I've just got the runny nose now. Feel so much better than I did yesterday which is a big relief. Can hardly keep my eyes open now so I'll catch up with everybody tomorrow.

I've no idea how the system managed to duplicate my message!! Ah, well.
Thank you for bringing it to my attention.
I'm now torn between leaving them both (which may cause confusion), or deleting one - which would cause confusion since it has been commented on.

A very good morning one and all. @lizzie27 your meal sounds absolutely scrumptious and I understand totally your need to sample the chocolate ganache! @Fourmerkland I would leave it there. It brings a smile to the face!

                Good morning to you all.

No sun today, but no wind. Rather grey. Market day so a bike dash down there until I take a "forlorn looking - why can't I come" Fizz when I get back.

Here is a photo of one side of our bike/run. Of course, I don't ride my bike among the vines!! Little bunnies in there, sometimes a partridge or a pheasant that have escaped the hunters!!

Morning all, I think I need a lie down. I know I've only been up an hour but just had a call from the garage. Our VW Polo, is in for service and Mot. To cut a long story short the front suspension is knackered so with service etc we are staring at the wrong end of £1200 quid. Not entirely a surprise as we had noticed creaking noises from the front in winter. We think it's a combination of pot holes and speed humps, though we do our best to avoid the latter.
I'll be round with the begging bowl later. :gaah:

Cheaper than a new car I guess.

Good morning. Sunny again but very fresh early on. This will continue till Monday now, in theory, when it will get cloudy and rather wet for a few days.

OH was up very early to go to physio for his shoulder so I was up earlier than usual to let out the chooks and give them their daily dose of rice - 3 types mixed with garlic and thyme and a dash of oilve oil. Then to the polytunnel to open that and bring out all the tender plants in pots so we can clear the beds ready for tomatoes and chillies. They all need potting on or planting so will have to catch OH in a good mood for making a new bed. Or two.

Your meal sounds great @lizzie27. To be enjoyed with no guilt!

Try not to stress too much @Penny_Forthem and fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Lovely photo @Tui34. I can cope with flat cycling now but round here it's surprisingly up and down and hard work.

                      I like Peanuts too @Ladybird4.

                      Have a good day everyone.

Working today so a quick post before I get into the office (aka the spare bedroom as I work from home). The weather is glorious again so must pop out and open the greenhouse doors.

                          Morning everyone.
I now have 'a letter' informing me I must be there by 7.30 tomorrow. I'll take that!
Yesterday was mainly spent reading 'Death at the sign of the Rook', on my new kindle. Why have I never had one before?
I also supervised OH using a hoe and managed to pot on some more tomatoes! rather than the 16 plants I normally grow, I am limiting myself to 8 this year. Mrs Sensible, at last.

                            Good morning all.

We had a lovely day and lunch with our friends yesterday. They had invited another couple, she was my best riding friend. Great to see them again as, since I moved, they are 1 1/2 hours drive away. Also they have been touring Europe in their camper van. They came back from Portugal last week.

This morning I went to the mower place. They've had my tractor mower for 2 weeks and aren't answering the phone. I really need it as rain starts on Saturday and we go to Norfolk on Monday and I have to give the spare key to Chris and show him how it works. They are short staffed and the secretary left so no one answers the phone. The man will deliver it after lunch today.

I'm glad the funeral went well @Ladybird4.

@Obelix-Vendée I've tried Glucosamine, turmeric, cider vinegar with honey, all recommended by friends, nothing works apart from pain killers. I know from nursing and my GP has said that nothing can work to make worn cartilage re-grow. Osteo-arthritis is caused by wear and tear. Adults can't grow new articular cartilage from scratch. This is only possible for a foetus growing inside the womb.

That's a shame @Busy-Lizzie. My hands haven't got any worse since I've been taking regular turmeric etc - touch wood.

OH deposited our push along motor mower early last year. I eventually pushed him into calling in the shop early this year. It had been put on a shelf with no label as to owner or problem. Chappy has called this morning to say's now ready so OH will collect it this pm. It'll cope with all the longer bits and narrrower bits the sit-on can't do.

Ouch indeed @Allotment Boy but, as you say, cheaper than a new car. That's what I told OH when we had to spend over 2000€ on a new Turbo thingy for Sally Zafira when I was up in Belgium fetching Possum home from Covid isolation. That was September '20 so it's been worth it to us.

7:30 sounds almost civilised @Penny_Forthem. I do hope it goes ahead OK. For my 2nd knee there was no pre-admission so 6am at the hospital and already showered in iodine solution. I am not a lark. Kindles are great once you get over not holding a book. Handier for slipping in handbags when you're off on a journey or waiting to see a medic.

Been busy this am as my Farmer Gracey order arrived. We've emptied the polytunnel, swept the floor, tidied and re-arranged potting trays, composts, pots, pelleted manure bag and so on and then I managed to get half my FG order potted and labelled before OH needed feeding. I shall do the rest this pm.

Still sunny but the wind is swinging to the east and north again and is a bit draughty. I hope it's fine where you are.

Mrs F reminded me STRONGLY this morning, that the price for a replacement passport rises tomorrow, so I really OUGHT to renew mine today.
                                I don't have a valid passport, and since I don't drive, I don't have any photographic ID.
So I duly went ahead and applied for a passport. Taking the digital photo was the most stressful part. What I eventually used is likely to get me arrested, should I ever try to get into another country. But at least I don't have a criminal record.
                                Yet!!
