Apparently, I look 'well'. And so one should, with hair like mine. Bouffant, anyone?
Anyway, I'll scare the patient in the next bed tomorrow.

 

Good evening all, after a rather restless night, coughing and spluttering, we spent a glorious morning/lunch at A la Ronde at Exmouth. For those that don't know of it, its a very eccentric 16 sided 'cottage' built and lived in by two very wealthy female cousins, the Parminters in the late 18thC. They were obsessed by shell work and the gallery at the top is completely covered by shells. The staff told me that I must have visited about 45 years ago before the NT took over in 1991 - cripes! They had to shut the gallery to visitors then as it was too fragile. Unusually they directed that the property could only be inherited by unmarried female descendants. Despite that a man did own it later on before it reverted back to the female line.

Lunch was a very tasty Devon pasty and a bottle of Luscombe elderflower cordial sat in the orchard there, amongst bluebells, daffs, white and purple fritillaries, celandines and tulips. Some of the apple trees were very old and just beginning to leaf up. It was very peaceful with a lovely view of the estuary in the distance.

I've had a nap whilst OH went for a swim in the indoor pool and we're just going to get ready for an early dinner, I could get used to this life.

That really is an ouch @Allotment Boy, car maintenance/repair is so expensive these days but as you say, cheaper than buying another one.

What a fabulous view you have on your bike ride. Thank you for sharing that with us. Oh my goodness @Allotment Boy that has really got to hurt. A letter @Penny_Forthem? Oh that is definitive. @lizzie27 I am really enjoying reading about your super days and I can see now why you were so disappointed when you came down with your cold but from what I read it is not really spoiling your enjoyment.

 

Well today was going to be the day that the gas boiler man was due. I texted him last night to ask for an expected time. I had noticed that my two previous texts hadn't been read (or replied to!) so I was still in the dark as to whether he would come or not. As it happens the local free directory of services and companies had dropped through my door yesterday and I decide to have a browse through it. Inside the front cover was an advert for a gas service company - fairly local to me and after looking at the website online I rang them. Nice lady took details and said someone called Colin would call this afternoon. Having had so many knock backs I didn't get too excited. To cut a long (and probably boring for you - sorry) story short. Sometwo called Ben and Robert arrived at 14:05, got the job over and done with in less that an hour and it cost me 50% less than what I had been quoted on CheckaTrade. One happy bunny here. I was really pleased that the day was so sunny as the outside work they had to do to replace the condensation pipe wouldn't have been so nice if they were battling the elements. I gave them both a Cadbury's Creme Egg which they both seemed to really enjoy. You can wake up now - I've finished!

It's sunny and much warmer day than last few. My plan it go to the cottage after school and continue work on the fence. Soon will be time to plant onions and potatoes, and that's a huge job. Wish you all a lovely day and see you later.

More time in the garden Grocery delivery been unpacked and stashed - still a bit cool but it is looking like another super day. Must go and check on the GH shortly.

Our tractor mower finally arrived back from being serviced mid afternoon and a week late. OH has been mowing. I planted out my baby brad bean plants.

We are going to a garden club meeting this morning. There will be coffee and a talk about a lady botanist.

 

Not quite the plain sailing hoped for. No bed, so now must be there 11am and probably stay overnight. I had all my lifts planned, now it's all gone tots up. Quite defeated.
