Waiting for the boys to have their showers. They take ages. Then they have to style their hair! Teo seems quite a bit better today.

Morning everybody, stunning photos @Busy-Lizzie. We really enjoyed visiting Norfolk a few years ago and stayed at Holt but we didn't get as far as Holkham Hall. Visited 2 other NT places whose names I forget now.

Just waiting to see if the sun's going to come out. Gardening is so much nicer when it's sunny. Must crack on with the weeding as it's forecast to be hot next week.

Have phoned my daughter and my brother to wish them Happy Birthday today. I had forgotten it was Anzac Day as well, so that was why Princess Anne was in Gallipoli. We believe my grandfather (having lied about his age) was serving in a balloon ship off the coast there but have no definite proof yet.

      Have a good day all.

Friday again. Chilly morning. Today, same stuff, work on taxes, go dead head daffs. tidy something up, take a walk. Food shop a little. Fix something.

Sunday will be neat, I hope, tickets to a fashion show in the town nearby. I know the shop offering the show, nice shop. Do need to keep focus on outfits for wedding in California end of August, and a special Car show in Canada in September.
Fashion show is held in a renovated barn it says, with Food Trucks about it advertises. Now, guess it depends on the weather of what to wear to one of those "fashion shows" we shall see.

        Later.

Afternoon all. Weekly shop day today and then lunch so no gardening yet bit it is warm (19C) and partially sunny. Still set to be wet tomorrow so OH has been sent out to mow but I think he's got distracted dusting our bedroom. Why? ANyway, it will be sunny on Sunday while he's out playing golf so I shall break out the weedkiller and spray my new "parterre" while he's not looking. I don't like chemicals but needs must this time and it's not systemic. Dry next week too so he can mow then.

@Tui34 I had an Oz friend in Belgium who worked at the embassy and invited me to the ANZAC ceremony at Ypres on year - local mayor and officials, local veterans with all their banners, a service and then a parade ending with the Last Post at the Menin Gate. Extraordinarily moving. I took OH to Ypres for Armistice Day in 2014. It's a place of deep respect for the fallen with memorials and cemetries for all sorts of groups, including a roundabout with a memorial to all the horses.

I've never seen recognisable gammon here. Where do you buy yours and what do they call it?

Lovely photos @Busy-Lizzie. I hope you get those boys moving before the day is gone.

I sympathise with your dilemma @Butterfly6 but I think I'd be inclined to ditch the box.

Have a lovely afternoon everyone, whatever you're doing.

So the guy that bought the car parts and was to pick them up on Wednesday never showed. Sent him some nurturing comments, like, hope your ok etc. Finally today he responded said he lost his cell phone early Wednesday morning, headed back home the 1100 mile trip . I told him I'd keep his stuff safe, glad he is OK. So he's back in Canada, I guess.

Oh my goodness @Busy-Lizzie, how things have changed. In my youth my sisters and I got the blame for hogging the bathroom. Still, nice to have clean boys than some of the stinky rascals I had to teach. They didn't seem to realise that spraying copious amounts of Lynx did not disguise the underlying B.O. Respect to your grandfather @lizzie27. By all accounts many young men lied about their ages to get into the forces. @Butterfly6 I agree with @Obelix-Vendée's sentiments about the box. I remember Monty agonising about his box hedging and then getting rid of it.

Canasta was good today but we had a rather upsetting occurrence. The place where we play Canasta has several rooms it lets out and another group who meet there is an AA group. Today one of their members had, what we can only guess from the description, a stroke. He could speak but was immobile. An ambulance was rung for and they were told it would be about an hour. By the time I left it still hadn't arrived so I do hope he is all right.

@Ladybird4, I do hope that chap is okay, a nasty shock for you all.

Actually it was the other way round, my grandfather was too old to fight in WW1 but knocked at least 10 years off his age. He'd been a Royal Marine back in 1899 and in case any of you are wondering about the logistics, my father was born in the early 1900's , he was a lot older than my mother.

That's rather odd @redstar, to come all that way and then go back again. What a waste of gas as well. Presumably he only had your address/phone number on his phone. Just goes to show how dependent we now are on those little gadgets.

Our day turned out a lot warmer and sunnier than expected so I've enjoyed being out in the garden most of the day. Great excitement as the broad beans and potatoes have started growing.

That was worrying @Ladybird4. Hope he was OK.

Grandson felt better today, just the start of the common cold.

We went to Sheringham, had fish and chips for lunch, walked to the sea. Then we went for a walk in Sheringham Park. It was much bigger than I expected. Unfortunately a bit too early for rhododendrons, only a few were out. Daughter said her phone told her we walked a bit over 5 miles today. I'm quite tired now.

A very good morning everyone. That is an excellent walk @Busy-Lizzie but no wonder you are tired. Hope you don't have to wait too long to get into the bathroom today. Baking for tomorrow's tea/coffee morning today as well as attempting some garden jobs as well. Enjoy your days - bit overcast here at the moment.

Had an enjoyable day yesterday after the box moth trauma. The box knot is trimmed just the large hedge and two box ball to do today. The box hedge is covered in box moth eggs at one end and little caterpillars at the other but they will all end up in the compost shortly hopefully giving a brief reprieve.

After that I potted on my tomatoes and dozens of cosmos - 48 so far and two more trays of Cosmos plus two of Rudbeckia to do. I need to get creative and fashion more little pots, my supply of the real thing is running low. Will raid my granddaughter’s crafting box and see what I can repurpose. There should be some loo rolls plus some larger sheets of paper I can roll into mini pots. Am wondering whether I can persuade OH he would like real newspaper tomorrow just so I can then make it into pots

After our morning gardening we had a walk along the canal in the city centre and a late lunch, early supper at the Pizza Express. OH has a 25% voucher code which lasts a year courtesy of the insurance meerkat.

I need to get into the office this morning but after lunch we are off to visit a new Nursery. A fairly local wholesalers are having a public open day so I can’t resist.

One of my great uncles was due to get a medal for outstanding bravery rescuing soldiers from no-mans land under fire in WW1. Then they decided he had couldn’t have it because he had rescued enemy soldiers as well. He was ill for a long time from the effects of gas. A real character he ended up in a Californian Monastery in Santa Barbara. The late Queen visited it in the 80s and he was introduced to her. My Nanna used to get an annual letter from the Monstery informing her on his health. They were very disappointed in his behaviour one year - he had gone “over the wall” without permission, taking some novices with him, to go and watch the Olympics in Los Angeles. He was a rebellious 88 :yahoo:

                          Have a great weekend everyone

I took the food I had prepared, to my daughter before going to Asda to have my glasses repaired. The side arm snapped off during the week. Unfortunately it means a new pair of frames. I am lucky I can wear them satisfactorily with one arm because they are very lightweight and stay in place, the downside is they are really expensive and my eye test still has 6 months to go.
I went to the charity shop and found a few things for the small human visitor to check out when she comes tomorrow. I bought a pack of Tops and Tails playing cards in Asda while I was in there. I dug out some coloured paper and felt tip pens for drawing from my stash cupboard but stopped at glue and scissors. My son in law put some new batteries in the plastic shop till I bought, it even has a chip and pin facility on it and there are a few plastic coins in the drawer which makes a very satisfactory "Ping" when opened.
It was a whole new world of toys for me, my eldest is 59 and my grandchildren are in their 20's so it is a long time since I went toy shopping. I have never heard of or seen most of the products. Except The Unicorn. I had a conversation with a small person pre Christmas, in a toy section of a local farm shop, she was wearing a tiny unicorn on a velcro strap on her wrist and looking at what she hoped Father Christmas might bring her.
I met up with my overseas visitors for dinner, it is lovely to have them all together for a while. More arriving tomorrow from my sister's side. My culinary efforts paid off as it meant my daughter was not fraught with cooking, the home made meringue was the star of the whole meal. We just had it with fresh fruit salad and Cornish Clotted Cream. Cholesterol busting but yummy.
I managed to put my feet up for a couple of hours in the afternoon and had a mug of hot milk, brandy and a couple of Panadol(other brands available) before going to bed. It worked a treat, a full nights sleep and not too stiff this morning. We are going to a "posh" restaurant for lunch today, the chef moved down here from London and the meals are excellent. A quiet morning before being picked up. I am wondering what my "sprogs" are up to as this is supposed to be a thank you celebration from me to them for all they do for me but when they put their heads together they make their own plans and mischief.
                            Quite exciting!

Have a good day everyone. Some more warm weather on the way next week.

                              Morning.
Some sad stories, some inspiring ones and some brave ones this morning.
We had more visitors yesterday, then I managed to sow the seeds I promised myself.
It was so warm last night, I had to get my 5 tog duvet and even then, I didn't sleep well.
I got on the scales this morning and had a shock. Too many carbs and too little exercise are not good bedfellows. Still, I am getting more dextrous in the kitchen, so mustn't rely on hub and his doorstep sarnies!
@Goldenlily26 the little one is very well catered for. I remember as a child visiting my gran's friends, one of whom kept little treasures in a draw for me to play with. Never forgotten.

Grey here and damp but not as wet as forecast and the proper rain still hasn't arrived but ison its way. AFter that a warm and sunny week is forecast till next Sunday when storms are due. We'll see.

Managed to sleep thru till 6:30, fed a demanding Cosmos and slept till 10:30. Sinus bugs still there but fading. Haven't had a thin day for 2 weeks @Penny_Forthem, what with cake baking, staying away from home and fighting bugs so I didn't boher with my weekly weigh yesterday. Back on the wagon this coming week altho Thursday is a Celtic feast day so won't be thin.

Been busy so far today tidying the kitchen, making a pavlova base for the strawberries I bought yesterday and cooking our weekly English breakfast. i shall don wellies and go and check my seedlings and pottings on and divisions in the polytunnel but that is the limit for gardening today.

Enjoy all your baking @Ladybird4 and your special lunch @Goldenlily26. Hope the rest of your daughter's visit goes well @Busy-Lizzie and that the nursery visit is good @Butterfly6.

Take care everyone and enjoy every minute of your day.
