Good morning all. Very hot at work yesterday and today looks worse, apologies to those who love it but I hate hot weather. Sunshine yes, heat no.
Last night I went wild swimming with my sister and niece for the first time ever! Absolutely loved it, Small lake but very organised we even got tea and home made cake afterwards. Described as a sunset swim it was so lovely we will definitely go again.
Off to work now to be grumpy hope everyone else has a good day. Stay hydrated!

      Good morning all.

Yesterday we took the steam train from Holt to Sheringham. We had lunch in a pub garden in Sheringham then looked at the sea.

OH and I then went back to Holt to look around then we went home. The family stayed longer to explore Sheringham. I had watering to do.

Today OH has an appointment at the hospital so we won't join the family for their visit. I think the family will go to Norwich.

Glad you enjoyed the swim, @Debs64. Was it very cold?

Good morning to you all and for us here it is Labour Day.

The French give Lily of the Valley as a happiness sign for the rest of the year. It used to be bunches but with the cost of living, it has come down to a couple of stems!!

I hope you are feeling better today @Penny_Forthem - yes, there are those sort of days. I have them too, but after an outing with Fizz, it usually clears the cobwebs.

I will try that gel @Obelix-Vendée as I am getting extreme pain (at night from sleeping position) in the hip I had done in 2017. Like crural muscle pain. Funny, it's only at night or when I get off the couch. No use going back to the surgeon - he's done his job and it was successful as I have no pain in the joint area. Perhaps I need to do some exercises!!

I wonder what happened to this old GW posters like Ben Cotto @lizzie27 Did they miss out on the closure of the site, perhaps?

Good weather until the weekend where we are expecting rain. Good for the garden. Speaking of which, seeds I have sown have not emerged. Parsley, basil, cos lettuce and dwarf beans. I am patient but goodness!! A friend told me yesterday, that she had sown parsley twice and her beans are still dormant too. Some years are like that. The local nursery was apparently cleaned out last week, so there is little to buy for another week or so.

My tomatoes are coming along nicely - not in the ground yet. But I will buy some green pepper plants, as they too, sown in February have remained invisible!! I usually plant out after the 15th May when the Ice Saints 11th, 12th and 13th May and the Horsemen (strong winds)have passed us by, but it has been so warm, I am tempted to start with a few tomatoes.

I wish you all a pleasant first of the month.

A couple of stems sounds a bit greedy. It is growing like weeds in my garden.

Yesterday was another recovery day due to the heat.
I put my duvet cover and bottom sheet through the washing machine, dried them and had them back on the bed last night. It was rather delicious to get into a bed smelling of sunshine, unironed but I didn't care!
I have an appointment with the hairdresser this morning, a small shop and home. Thank goodness the temperature is due to come down.

Another lovely morning, so no need to ask where I am! Thankfully there are shady walks here, as I am another one that doesn’t cope well with the heat. 18C is my comfort maximum. We had to stay in home yesterday morning as we had a parcel coming. Postman usually comes in the morning, but he did a double shift, and didn’t get to us till nearly 2pm.
I managed to get some gardening done in the shade, but by midday, it was far too hot for both of us. We had a couple of shopping chores to do, so we spent some of the afternoon in blissfully air conditioned Ikea and Hobbycraft. I’ve never seen either shop so empty and peaceful! I bought some trays, sold as storage for shoes, but a really nice size to stand my seed trays on! Also got some pasta bowls, made in Portugal, and a picture frame from Poland! Bonus points for that! I think this afternoon will be paperwork, bills to check and pay, but I might do that outside in the shade.

In a way, I shall miss the warmth, but we do need rain.
I have organised a one off deep clean of our downstairs and operation clean sweep starts today, when the head of the cleaning squad arrives to check what we require. Anything low down (skirtings), under furniture, or high up needs a good 'bottoming', as they say!
@Tui34 what was the cream that @Obelix-Vendée mentioned? I am using a cooling gel with arnica on my arm at night.
A friend sent us a box of herbs as an anniversary gift. I think it one of the best gifts ever received.

Gosh @Ergates, only 18C! You would hate Dordogne in summer. 25C is forecast inn Norfolk today, my favourite temperature. I'm wearing a summer dress today. In summer in SW France it's often in the 30s. I find that a bit too hot.

Waiting in hospital café for Outpatients.

Hello everyone. Lovely sunny day again and set to get to 24C which is comfy for me so lots of pottering coming up this pm. I get uncomfortable in the mid 30s but am fine as long as it's not humid.

@Penny_Forthem The gel was probably Artrogel which is made by Dalembert from 7 essential oils to give muscular relief. Ingredients and instruction in French and English so probably available in the UK but expensive from a pharmacy so try online. The pharmacy I tried didn't have it in stock and said it would be 30 to 40€ for a tube. Nicolas, my physio, sold me one of his stock for 15€. After major surgery even muscles that haven't been directly messed with can take a while to settle down @Tui34 so gentle exercise is a good idea along with th gel. I still do them for my knees as well as the dancing and yoga to keep me moving.

The great thing about the tea dances is that everyone there is of retirment age and all enjoying themselves. I never saw so much flesh on display in Belgium and those outings were evening events with a smart dress code. Here, the ladies are happy to show decolletés and knees and usually, but not always, unfortunately, have the figure and fitness to do so and look elegant. Impressive energy levels too and some impressive rock and swing moves from a few couples. Love it.

@Debs64 glad you enjoyed your cold swim but not for me. I don't even dip my toes in the Atlantic these days. Much too cold and salty too, then there's all that sand.

Have a lovely day everyone and I hope all outpatients trips and other necessities go well.

Hi all I have to say the water wasn’t too cold at all, after the initial shock it was lovely. I had thought about wearing my wetsuit but I was fine in my swimming costume. There were little birds everywhere and gorgeous scenery. I am definitely planning to make it a regular thing. I slept well too so that was a bonus.
Work was annoying as always I am afraid the company just wants more and more all the time and we are horribly understaffed which seems to be the norm now. I feel sorry for the patients because customer service is non existent.

Poor @Debs64. It is so demoralising, and really wears you down, trying to do your best where you can. I must say, it’s lovely being retired!
Yes, @Busy-Lizzie, I wouldn’t enjoy those temperatures at all. We used to take the kids camping on the west coast of France, many years ago, but the site was in a beautiful pine forest, and the breezes off the Atlantic made it all tolerable. Now we tend to head north in the summer ( Norway in a few weeks)
We got a walk this morning before it got too hot, and I’ve been paying bills and dealing with indoor stuff this afternoon.
Just seen a siskin having a drink from the birdbath outside the back door!

Good evening all. It has been a warm day here too. I had my hair sorted out by my Bestie's daughter and we had lots of nice chat. The man who was my second in department came to have his hair cut too so there was a fair amount of gardening talk. He is a complete beginner and sadly he lost his wife, who was the gardener, recently, so he was picking our brains about various plants. Shortly after I got home my next door neighbour came round and asked me if I could take her down to A&E. Her partner was away visiting his mother. Of course I said yes and went in to grab my car keys and off we went. It turns out that she has been having blackouts and had been told not to drive. She has had lots of various tests and scans and at first the Docs thought it was an ear disorder, then vertigo and now apparently they think either heart or brain. They told her they were going to send her a heart monitor to wear for 24 hours but it never arrived. She is desperate to find a solution as she is going on holiday to South Wales next week. I dropped her off at A&E and headed home. The traffic was quite busy. Fairly soon after I got home neighbour's partner arrived with a beautiful bouquet and a bottle of white wine to say thank you. I was really touched as I didn't expect anything. He hadn't heard anything from neighbour apart from the fact she was still waiting in A&E. I expect she will be some time.
I think you are very brave @Debs64 going into that cold water and well done for deciding it is definitely a sport for you but I'm sorry to read that you are still encountering hassle at work.
