I spent a couple of hours in the garden, amazed at what has survived. Iris, dahlias, peaonies, gladioli etc.
The ground is like a dust bowl.

        Brrr... quite chilly.
He is off to bushcraft today (friend is taking him). Nice to have a bit of normality creeping back.
Most definitely I will not be moving compost, @Ladybird4. The new herb planters should arrive today, so the sack truck will be busy!
Then we must refill the butts from the stream, which we are allowed to do.
I missed a call from physio yesterday and when I called back at 3.10, they'd shut!
        Enjoy your Saturdays, everyone.

Another lovely day here. I’ve done my shopping so it’s coffee and garden time. Trying to ignore my sore throat.

          Have a smashing day everyone.

That's not good @AuntyRach so I hope it goes away.

I hope you enjoyed your trip @lizzie27 despite the extra traffic. Enjoy your visit @Ladybird4 and the catching up. I take it more training is on the cards for OH @Penny_Forthem.

Glad you've all enjoyed your daughter's visit @Busy-Lizzie and trust you will both enjoy your trip to Cornwall.

Sunny here and warm but all change tomorrow so I've been doing more pottering in the polytunnel clearing the larger bed of weeds and other stuff so I can prepare it for planting. Lots of ants so I've left the door open for the chooks to go in and do their thing. OH has been out cutting grass. We do no mow most of the year in some areas but keep others half tamed and others half presentable.

Terrace table has been scrubbed with a mix of vinegar and WUL to start preppeing it for outdoor eating. I kno wthe weather won't be great next week but it's a process of cleaning, drying, feeding over several days so it'll be ready for the next sunny bits. Mmessing with mint pots later. I've decided to get rid of all my specials - down to 5 from a dozen in Belgium - as they need far too much watering for what I get from them so I'll just keep a pot of ginger mint.

Have fun everyone, whatever you're doing.

              Hi @Ladybird4
The museum doesn't have a huge display, but has hundreds of files packed full of information about every aspect of the village, and the history of just about every property, going back centuries.
Today someone came in to find out about VE Day, but also brought in a letter from the King to all children, for going through the difficult war years.
I had to file various new items, talk to visitors, be polite, and learn more, so I can educate people when they come in.
I help set up and put away displays. Put out and bring in signs.
It is more fun than I make it out to be.

Hello all. Saturday. Just busy getting ready for another trip down to our other house in N.C. this time with mixed happiness and sadness. We found a lovely person that will lease the house for 3 years. So we are going down to tidy up the last things on our list, collect some stuff that should not remain there for 3 years (my grocery stash in the locked room). Do some more staining of the dock, finish it up, plant a few plants we are bringing from house here ect.
I will miss going down there to some degree, but constant money coming in to cover things is lovely. Busy anyway here with lining up the different car show trips, and our house here aways needing something to be done etc.
Anyway, off to do more dead heading and weed pulling, packing etc. taxes or whatever. Take care all.

A lovely day here, (can’t believe it’s a bank holiday weekend- where is the rain?)
We have been out for breakfast (a bagel with avocado and chilli glazed halloumi! delicious!) A pleasant walk before it got too hot, then a quick top up shop at Waitrose on the way home. The car park was packed. Looks like everyone is stocking up for weekend barbecues.
I have repotted a pompom plant (can’t remember the name) which I grew from a cutting. It’s been languishing in the corner of the garden which I call my plant hospital. It’s not very hospital like, in that the patients don’t get any treatment, they get parked there to sink or swim. Any that survive the neglect get taken out for rehabilitation. Now I need to plant the Pachysandra I bought on impulse, before it outgrows its pot. It is going on the bank I cleared earlier this year, where the shade should suit it.

It looks a bit like a petting zoo outside on the lawn. Two adult rabbits and three babies, and a pair of juvenile wood pigeons, just starting to get some colour on their necks. Various squirrels, plus a greater spotted woodpecker on the bird feeder. I’d better take a hayfever tablet soon, a gust of wind hit the top of some of our Scots pines, and released a huge cloud of yellow pollen. I’m not too susceptible, grass pollen is my main problem, but OH is often affected at this time of the year when there is more tree pollen around.
My daughter has recently started volunteering at her local city museum, and is enjoying it very much. She only does a session or two a month, as she works full time, but is finding it fun.

                    Good afternoon to you all!!

By golly! That risotto was delish! I zested some lemon into it at the last moment then left to infuse. Shared some with Fizz in her dried food!

A funny springlike day. Sunny, then dark grey, overcast then sunny. Rain expected tomorrow and Monday. I wanted to do a trip to the tip on Monday - don't fancy it in the rain.

Lovely photos @Busy-Lizzie I hope you enjoy the few days in Cornwall.

Faffing around in the garden this morning - I love it. Fertiliser on my broad beans which are now a good foot+ high and flowers developing. Dwarf beans @Obelix-Vendée - I sow direct - peas , broad beans and the like. Thank you for the info on radicchio.

The roses in peoples' gardens are magnificent this year with this warm wet spring. Flowers of all colours are everywhere.

Enjoy the rest of the day - I am going to relax with my audio ebook "Tara Road" which I read years and years ago. Enjoying being read to by Maeve Binchy's daughter! Bliss!!

Good evening all. It was really nice meeting @Cheyngel today and between us we came up with the length of time we have been chatting and it works out at about 9 years or so. Where does that time go?! The sun finally appeared so it was pleasant walking about.
Thank you so much for that fascinating description of your work at the museum @Fourmerkland, I think I would enjoy doing that sort of thing. Going to bid you all good night now and I'll see you in the morning.

Good evening everyone, I am home alone this evening
My wife has gone to the Theatre with a friend. This is the lady who used to organise the Edinburgh fringe visits.

We've been busy here and on the Allotments, what would help most is a good dose of rain. I spent over an hour watering this evening. Have a good rest of the weekend whatever you are doing.

A very good morning one and all. @Ergates, I have just seen the most delightful - yet a little sad - story on the Beeb. A wee baby donkey who has two Mums. Apparently two babies were born in the same pen and one didn't survive so the one that did was 'adopted' by the jenny who lost her foal. So two Mums are keeping an eye on the remaining foal. My aaahhh moment of the day! Waiting for an Ocado delivery now. He's on his way!

@Debs64, I am pleased that the funeral went well. They are always an emotional time but often it is nice to catch up with relatives and friends you haven't seen for some time and share amusing memories.
