Morning everybody, thanks for the photos @Busy-Lizzie, glad you enjoyed the visiting.

We go past Dudmaston sometimes on our way up to Stone (the scenic route!) @Debs64 and have often wondered what it's like. We must try to find time to visit next time. We love the cafe at Quat, their breakfast sarnies are gorgeous.

We're still on the 5-2 diet after nearly a year Butterfly6 but we do have a small bowl of cereal for breakfast and I might have a banana for lunch. I find I get a little dizzy if I go without food all day and as I expect we're much older than you, think we ought to be a bit sensible about it.
That said, I seem to have plateaued for months now so must really try harder! It seems every 6 weeks or so there's often a birthday or special occasion or we go away when good intentions go out of the window. Hope the new carpet laying goes smoothly and that you're pleased with the result.

The tree fellers have arrived and are busy, it's not so noisy as I feared with the windows shut.
It's going to look so strange without the tree looming over the garden - I'll post before and after photos when they've finished, it might take 2 days to take down apparently (they only work from 9am to 3pm!).

Calm morning and cloudy with sunny spells but the wind is getting up again and is still northerly and cold. Whilst sorting out the garden shed recently I found some weekiller and, since I can't dispose of it safely, I've been out and sprayed some very persistent weeds round the front steps and in the side path and near the terrace.

Cosmos is fine thanks @Butterfly6. He loves all the fuss. I took a comb with me to the vet and spent an hour grooming him in his basket and he purred and drooled the whole time. He has very thick, short fur and it comes off in handfuls in spring. Woke me up at 6am wanting cuddles and breakfast.

The visitor woke me at 2:30, pushing food bowls round the bathroom floor. Fine but not restful so I had a lie in dozing and reading. Never get to see which visitor it is as they scarper out the catflap at the slightest noise. Not trustful of hoomans.

All these garden visits sound wonderful and I am enjoying the photos. Nothing like them round here but the garden club organises visits to members' and public gardens thru the season and they can be across the Vendée and into surrounding departments. We also have a 4 day coach trip to visit gardens around Taunton this year.

Enjoy your day. I hope you get good weather for any VE day festivities and for gardening.

Two very industrious young ladies have swept, hoovered, cleaned and polished our downstairs. I am very pleased.
I can have an afternoon in the garden.

Good evening all. Oh my goodness @Busy-Lizzie but those pictures are such a sight for sore eyes. Absolutely gorgeous and oh how much I enjoy looking at them but I do have to place one caveat - will you please stop giving me loads more items for my bucket list! I managed to escape the GC with just three bags of compost, which was very restrained for me but they are essential. Get home to find that the dustbin men have obscured my drive entrance with emptied bins - all lined up like they are on guard. I had to hop out of the car and shift them before I could get onto my drive. Why they can't put them back where they found them I'll never know.

Pleased to read that Cosmos is recovering. He does seem to be a glutton for punishment @Obelix-Vendée. I used to put my old cat Lily's fur out for the birds and I would smile thinking about baby birds being kept warm by an enemy's fluff.

Can't put Cosmos' fur out for the birds @Ladybird4 as he has to be treated for fleas and ticks and those chemicals are bad for nestlings. Lots of farm and wild critters around us so I can't leave ours untreated.

Lots of pottering about this afternoon getting fiddly jobs done and clearing the table and other bits off terrace ready for cleaning tomorrow after the weekly shop altho we're to expect thunderstorms on Saturday so I may do some other outside jobs instead. Won't be sitting out for lunch this weekend I fear.

I potted on more chillies and some unidentified flower seedlings (label disappeared) and found I have baby asparagus and 1 Ceylon gooseberry out of 5 sown. Absolutely thrilled with those. Then had to get clean for yoga. Good session.

Have a lovely evening everyone and sweet dreams, especially those like @AuntyRach who need a restorative rest.

We are now in bed in our B&B in Cornwall. We've been here before and we like it. Two gay men own it, they are so nice and welcoming. We got served a cream tea when we arrived.

No photos today. I meant to take a photo of Jamaica Inn but I forgot. We looked around the museum there this afternoon.

Stopped for lunch in Tiverton in a pub, had Ramen an exotic sort of chicken noodle soup. It was very good. Scampi in the village pub this evening.

We are going to St Michael's Mount tomorrow. Early start.

Castles are my thing, and I once applied for a job there - but I didn't get it. My OH was relieved!!
It's such a beautiful place. I hope the weather remains fine for you. Are you walking across?
I've had the luxury of also seeing it from the air - from a helicopter enroute to the Isles of Scilly.

You've chosen the right time of year to go.
Do share some pictures please, if you have the time to take some!

Absolutely delighted with our new carpet, the room feels bigger and brighter. The old one was really quite dingy. The living room and stairs were the only ones we hadn’t changed, well they were the only carpets in the house when we bought it. We had intended to do them after a year or two when we had finished all the various jobs needed, but time passes and suddenly 9 years have gone by!

Our back door from the garden comes straight into the room and we have had an entrance mat fitted as no matter how careful we are using the outside doormat, that area gets a battering and needs regular cleaning. I was a bit worried how it would look, but it actually looks very smart. We’ve also now got super insulating underlay so that should be nice and toasty come winter. Thankfully the floorboards were in pretty good condition, you’re never quite sure in a house this age. There were some gaps along the outside wall, which we filled before the fitters arrived. Another victory against those cold Easterly winds.

The fitters rang with a time at 9.30 arrived around 10.30, so that was good too. I think it was about 2pm when they finished.

I went to St Michael’s Mount a lifetime ago during a very, very, very wet camping trip. I think it was the only dry day we had during the entire fortnight.

Glad Cosmos is on the mend.

Hope you have a better day today @AuntyRach and got a good nights sleep

Could you send your ladies over here @Penny_Forthem?

Am working again today but hoping to get a hour or so in the garden. I still havent done the last of my potting on

Good morning. Bright and sunny again but still that chilly breeze. Weekly shop for me today, once I've dragged Possum from her bed then terrace cleaning and seedling checks. Still forecast to be wet tomorrow so sewing for me tho I may try sowing more beetroot. No luck so far.

Enjoy your visit today @Busy-Lizzie. Possum and I visited the French version a few summers ago on her way back to Namur and it is beautiful tho coffee and prices are a total rip off and there's lots of tat on sale down below.

Glad your cleaners have done a good job @Penny_Forthem. How long now till the cast and pins come off?

Hope you're feeling rested now @AuntyRach and that you enjoy your canasta @Ladybird4.

Stay safe and well everyone and have some fun.
