Glad your cleaners have done a good job @Penny_Forthem. How long now till the cast and pins come off?
@Obelix-Vendée, I don't have a cast and the pins/plate are there for good. Spending more time out of the sling and moving it gently. Start physio on Weds,
Apart from a Tesco delivery later, we have nothing planned at all, though those pots won't fill and plant themselves.
    Enjoy this lovely weather, everyone.

Bionic woman then @Penny_Forthem, a bit like my titanium knees. I've stopped physio now but still do exercises at home to keep the muscles strong.

@Obelix-Vendée I too have little success with direct sown beetroot so this year I've sown a few seeds in modules in the grow house. They've germinated well, but it remains to be seen what happens when I plant them out.

I sowed a tray of 24 modules with 4 different beets @Liriodendron and some germinated but then died. Sowed a new tray with 2 varieties and one has germinated. 3rd time lucky? We'll see what happens with today's lot. Good luck with yours

Finished shopping late as Possum needed kick starting then met a technology failure with the couple in fornt of me at the DIY where I'd found some wood lathes for my veg plot wisteria and clematis supports project. Just having a well-earned cuppa before spraying produit on the terrace.

Glad you're rested @AuntyRach and enjoying a potter.

I’ve potted-on about 20 Straw Flower seedlings and some (limp) lettuces. Missed watering for two days and my Kew Red Lavenders are crispy! They can have a bigger pot next year. They flower really early compared to other Lavenders.

                Glad you feel rested @AuntyRach.

The tree surgeons finished taking the tree down today and have left a huge pile of big logs on the verge. They told us (me and the neighbours) that we could help ourselves so I've got two logs as souvenirs. I've posted pics (lot of duplicates I'm afraid) on the Gardening Today thread so a bit wary of posting them again on here.

Good evening all. I went and had a look at your (ex) tree @lizzie27 and oh my what a monster it was. As you mentioned, you will have so much more light now. Great news about the carpet @Butterfly6 - even though they were a tad later than expected.
Today was interesting and oh my goodness the things you see when you haven't got your gun! I saw this person clad in what can only be described as holes rather than jeans. I have seen ripped jeans before but these were extreme. At first I thought they were shorts! I felt like shouting (I was on the bus) 'Now love, who got you ready this morning?' I would love to know what price was paid for this garment. Either that or the wearer had done an Edward Scissorhands on it.
Canasta was fun and we did learn that the gentleman who collapsed last time had not had a stroke but his 'seizure' was a result of a back injury he sustained some time ago and he had had a similar attack a few years back. He came in to see us and we were all delighted to hear he was up and about again.
Saw your wonderful pictures @Busy-Lizzie. Beautiful!

I thought I'd posted here but I can't find it now. I'll write it again.

I saw your tree @lizzie27 , most impressive.

We went to St Michael's Mount today. There were loads of old stone steps and rough, bumpy stone paths to get up to the castle and steep stone paths to see the garden. The garden was gorgeous and the views of the sea were wonderful. The sea is clear and turquoise here, unlike the North Sea which is cloudy. We walked there across the causeway but the tide came in later so we took the ferry boat back.

We went to St Ives afterwards and had a beer in a pub by the beach, then an ice cream. We were eating them then 2 greedy sea gulls swooped down and stole them! One seagull came from behind me and hit my head with its tummy.

I've posted my photos on the garden visits thread, but I had trouble finding it.

One of my husband's favourite sayings; the sights you see when you haven't got a gun!
Been a grand day. Too hot to work in the greenhouse after late morning.
Got first tomato in its quadgrow station. A sense of achievement.
                        Sounds a lovely day @Busy-Lizzie

A happy Saturday to one and all. @Penny_Forthem I am not exactly certain where I got the saying from but it is a favourite one of mine too. I just have to bake a gluten free cake for tomorrow's tea and coffee morning then I'm in the garden! I have already baked the tea loaf (the other day - not this morning!). Cricket fed and snuggled in one of his beds and I'm about to have mine.
