Morning everybody, too tired to post much last night when I got back from the Malvern Flower Show - absolutely shattered as I must have walked miles and it was very hot. I was very restrained and didn't buy any plants although I did see and want a luscious looking blue clematis. I couldn't think of any space I could put it. Instead, I stocked up on lots of garden sundries at good prices including 3 large balls of twine for £5, Showa gloves, hooks, a new large outdoor thermometer and other goodies. I'm going to try to make a spindle for a twine ball, suspended on ribbon so I can hang it around my neck when tying in all my roses - it's too large to fit into a pocket/gardening apron.

I liked all the show gardens, up close and personal was far better than seeing them on TV.

Keeping my fingers crossed for the rain in Cornwall to come this far in about four hours time, we certainly need it. I'd better get out and have a potter just in case.

    Hope everyone enjoys their Sunday.

Raining here. Had to go out to fill the car with petrol, and the can for the lawnmower, and it started to rain really heavily. The garden could certainly use it. The rhododendrons are out now, some quite impressive colours. Also a couple of azaleas now in flower.

My fingers/toes are all crossed the rain gets up to us later. It's looking promising as it has clouded over with some darkish ones.
Got all my buckets/trugs/bowls etc stood out ready.

          Good Afternoon all.

Just started raining!! Literally just finished cutting MIL’s grass when it went all humid and cloudy. Next door have BBQ on - hehe.

I hope everyone is doing ok.

I think we need an emoji for jealousy - am getting serious rain envy. If anyone has too much please send it to us :please:

I’m not sure I would trust myself to have a string on a ribbon round my neck @lizzie27 . I would probably end up tied on to the roses or nearly strangling myself

Me too @Butterfly6. I keep my string in a pot with a hole in the lid so I can pull out what I need depending on what I'm doing.

No rain here today but more expected tomorrow still tho it's down to 2mm all day. Not exactly enough. OH is out raking up grass cuttings anyway but I have been distracted by patch admin so babies watered but no sewing yet. Better go and pick the rhubarb for pud.

              Have a cosy evening everyone.

EnviousEmoji.jpg There you go @Butterfly6 and I would love some rain too please. I was a little worried today when I rang Jack to see if he was up for my visit and there was no reply so I left him a message. I called again about 2 hours later - still no reply so I left another message. I then thought that maybe he had gone out with his daughter as it was such a lovely day. I've just tried again and his daughter answered the phone but luckily Jack was there and she put himon. Apparently he had been watching his neighbour laying flags in his (Jack's) garden where hi little grrenhouse used to be. I was quite relieved so I told him I'd nip over tomorrow to take him his cake and dahlias.
I love your pictures @Ergates. Thank you for sharing.
I have a ceramic owl pot with my twine inside and there is a hole near its beak that the twine comes out of and it also came with a pair of scissors that 'sit' in the hole, making the owl look as if its wearing glasses.

I've finished watering the garden, and guess what?! It's raining!!
Now if it could just fill the waterbutts, I would be very grateful.
                    PLEASE!!

Gardens and Pretty Places we have visited

We visited Trellisick today. The house wasn't grand and beautifully furnished like a Stately home but it had an interesting history and had been owned by the owners of Spode Pottery. There were display cabinets with Spode china in them. The National Trust acquired it in 1955 but the family lived there until 2012. It opened to the public in 2013.

The gardens were beautiful to walk through with sweeping lawns, rhododendrons, trees, paths and glorious views, but they weren't really a plant man's sort of gardens though there were some borders.

I'll put more garden photos on the Garden Visits.

Our forecast for rain has changed... no drizzle, even. Just a 40% chance we'll get 0.3mm on Tuesday afternoon. :dunno:

@Busy-Lizzie thanks for the glorious pictures you've posted this time. I would not like doing all of that dusting! The sky is looking a bit overcast so maybe I can expect some rain (please tap controller!) I've just heard on the Beeb that United Utilities - my water provider - are asking us to try and use less water. It has been the driest start to a year since 1956. Now I feel bad for washing my car. I knew there was a reason to leave it mucky! Looking forward to catching up with Jack today - he only surfaces at 11:00! And why not at 94!

                                Good morning all.

We are leaving Cornwall today and going to see a couple of old friends in Wiltshire for a couple of nights before we go home. We've had a great time here. We've walked a lot so got tired, but we slept and ate well.
