I hope this forecast of rain hits tomorrow, none for months, as I only have half a rain barrel, out of three, left. I need rain water to keep my Carnivorous Plant collection happy and my water bills down.

Dry here with sunny spells and none of he clouds look like dumping. I've had a quiet morning indoors but am about to go and spray the stuff on the terrace to remove winter greening and then I have to get showered and go out. i'll only have time to check the babies in the polytunnel and water them and all my pots when I get back.

Pussies sagas continue at night but I've just seen the Siamese coloured one lurking by the catflap at midday so I've left a pot of food outside for it. It's looking very scruffy so clearly doesn't have the luxury of rest and grooming so will carry on till we can make friends and get it sorted out. This one might have lost its owners but the tabby and white is definitely a farm cat and will be neither tattooed nor chipped nor sterilised.

Happy gardening for those who can today and good luck with everything else for those who can't. I hope you find your Dordogne house and garden well @Busy-Lizzie especially your Bumble salvias.

        Afternoon folks.

I’m off this week and how lucky to have lovely gardening weather! Garden bin was emptied this morning and it’s full again already! There won’t be as much trimmings and weedings through the summer so I might even be able to decant my two builder’s sacks to the bin, bit by bit.
Next job is to take the houseplants outside for a good soak and dusting!

I hope everyone is doing ok.

          Good afternoon to you all!

I have been so busy - as have you all. Just getting stuff done that I have put off for a while.

I hope you are enjoying the cruise @Ergates Happy landing @Busy-Lizzie Your garden will be waiting .

I have my swallow couple - Chip 'n Dale who chatter constantly on the pergola wires. The male is trying to get it on!! She won't have any of it. I do hope they nest here.

We had a huge thunderstorm last night @Liriodendron after a very humid overcast and threatening day. I sprinkled fertiliser over everything that needed it and hoped And the downpour came around 9pm; hard and fast. So everything has had a great soak. Windy today but that will just dry the surface.

Got out early this morning to go to the laundromat with my huge duvet. Both machines were in use - and only just, said the lady. I did a few messages, then gave up and came home. I will try again later on in the week.

The tomatoes are staked up as the ground was soft - back sore but that job is done. I have 23 plants in - 5 look positively tired, but the others have come on. 1 green pepper top has broken off - I will leave it hoping it will sprout from the side. I have 6 each peppers and aubergines. My broad beans are about to give - the first lot by the weekend @Busy-Lizzie - how are yours?

I have made a quiche for tonight. Thank I will have a glass of red to go with it. Water isn't the same.

Have a pleasant evening all - and go easy on the red!!

I am looking forward to tonight's Chelsea programme and I'm signing out for today. I hope @Busy-Lizzie is safely home in France now and that everyone on here has a lovely night. Cricket's little friend (Cutey Cat) visited today and stood on the garage roof keeping his eyes on me. He was looking for his buddy to have a romp but Cricket was away patrolling the boundaries so I don't think they met up. See you all in the morning. Sweet dreams later all.

I have been out at a school reunion at West Kirby on the Wirral. Long day and I forgot my painkillers. Tomorrow is another day,

Since I got my new knees @Penny_Forthem I always have a big paracetamol in my bag, just in case. Haven't needed it for over a year and then it was for a woman who tripped and twisted her ankle on the way into patchwork group but handy.

I've seen the Siamese pussy again this afternoon so it's either desperate or getting bolder. It was creeping thru the long grass behind the ruin and towards the house so I made friendly noises and left it be. I was on my way back from the post box where I found my new French driving license. Good.

I shall be planting the other half of my tomatoes tomorrow @Tui34 and am still pondering putting some outside so I can have a couple of cucumbers in the polytunnel too. Then I need to find homes for the rest of the cucumbers as they germinated better than expected.

Enjoying the Chelsea coverage in the evening; some cracking gardens and MD is a lot less supercilious now he knows what it takes to make a garden there, even one not judged.

We got back about 6pm, French time.
Our plane left an hour late. When we got to Bergerac airport there had been a huge downpour.

When we got home we found the utility room, study and tool room had flooded. They are all in what used to be a double garage, attached to the house but on a lower level. The flooding was obviously recent. Handyman Chris said it was OK yesterday.

Worse than that , the circuit breaker had clicked so there wasn't electricity there. The fridge freezer and the freezer are in the utility room. That must have happened during a previous storm because the freezers had defrosted and the contents were stinky and very mouldy
OH, bless him, cleaned up the fridge freezer while I went to get supplies at the SM. The freezer will have to wait. I turned it on again and will deal with it later.

On a happier note the roses are all out, but they have been battered a bit by the rain. The garden looks lovely and colourful but there are a lot of weeds. The runner beans haven't come up.

Good morning all. Oh my goodness @Busy-Lizzie, that is shocking news. After the unexpected wait at the airport and then getting home to that catastrophe. I hope there is no major damage. Thinking of you and your OH.
Chelsea was nice last night - after the presenters got passed the 'blether' stage. I just love seeing all of the flowers.

Sorry to hear you had a troublesome journey and then arrived home to such a mess @Busy-Lizzie I hope there isn’t too much damage aside from the lost food.

We actually had some rain last night, just enough to dampen the rain gauge maybe 1pm but nothing more.

I haven’t caught up with any of the Chelsea coverage yet, completely forgot about it last night when deciding what to watch!

Catching up with an old friend today at Hidcote. Needless to say after weeks of dry, sunny weather the forecast there is for a showery day. Hopefully not too showery. Anywany must get a move on as I need to leave at 9am to catch my train.

                        Good morning all.

I don't think there is that much damage from the flood. One door won't shut properly but I think it will be OK once it has dried out. I would like to put some things, like the cushions from the outdoor sofa, to dry out in the sunshine, but there isn't any sunshine and rain is forecast for this afternoon.

The freezer and fridge freezer have obviously been off for some time as the food is very mouldy. They were full. I'll have to contact the insurance company.

The garden looks colourful with all the roses but there are a bit battered by the rain. It all needs weeding. Chris has mowed but he hasn't edged the beds. He said there has been so much rain here couldn't come much.

I hope that you have a lovely and hopefully dryish day to enjoy your visit to Hidcote @Butterfly6.
A new morning and a new day @Busy-Lizzie keep all your thoughts positive. These disasters are a nightmare when first experienced but they can be rectified and you can always work off some angst by deadheading all your lovely roses - as long as the rain keeps away!

                            Good morning to you all!

Windy but sunny here. Your cushions would dry nicely in this breeze @Busy-Lizzie So sorry to hear of such a loss of good food. Do you keep a list of contents? It helps with ideas for meals, I find.....also where to find stuff without going on a deep exploration!!

Off again - bike with Fizz and then a pop in to say Farewell to my S. African friends who are off to their homeland for a well-deserved holiday.

                            Enjoy the day everyone.

Good morning everyone, we have a bit of dampness on the ground this morning. It can't have been much because the rain shadow round some of the pots is still bone dry. Forecast for more this afternoon. We are going to Chelsea tomorrow, Forecast is dry but cooler, we'll see.
