Another glorious day, so far. Looks like a week of rain for half term, then back to sunshine.
I was given a lift to the venue yesterday, so I made up a tub of seedlings for her as a thank you. Hopefully, when they all come into flower, it'll be a good show of colour.
There are 4 more tubs for me to plant up for the deck.
I am going to have a drive around the block later. Got to start sometime.
    Enjoy Chelsea, @Allotment Boy
Sorry to read of your woes, @Busy-Lizzie, but at least they're 'fixable'.
Whatever your weather, have a good day.

Dull here and we're expecting dribbles this pm but not a soaking. Indoor jobs then, now I've checked and watered the seedlings.

So sorry about getting home to a mess @Busy-Lizzie and I hope it doesn't take too long to clear and clean up. Must make a list of my freezer contents as they are chock full, including some of last year's fruit so I need to get busy with desserts and fish dishes.

Nee to think about a tub for our well @Penny_Forthem. I had a collection of sempervivums and succulents in shallow pots but they haven't done well thru the wet winter and I'm left just with teeny baby offsets. Time for something more showy.

Have a good day all and good wetaher, especially if it's a day out.

I can report that I have driven nearly a mile and reversed the car into the drive :yay:

The car passed its MOT. I should jolly well think so! I paid almost £2,000 for some big repairs only a couple of months ago. Said I wanted everything being checked in the forthcoming MOT to be checked while it was being serviced. It took twice as long for the MOT as usual, a queue at the wash station apparently. I sat and destroyed someone else's pleasure by half completing 2 crossword puzzles in a magazine. Someone had already started filling them in.
I am still stiff from my stint in the garden so had a quiet day when I came home. We must have had a couple of hours rain during the early hours, sunshine again by lunchtime.
I have just watered the indoor seedlings, peas/sweetpeas are already coming through, only sowed them a few days ago.
I feel beleaguered by cats. The new one in No 1 and a manky probably farm/ferule one keep coming into the house and eating Poppy's food. One even had a go at her a couple of evenings ago. I know the answer is to keep the doors closed, but on evenings like we have had lately it seems a shame not to enjoy the last rays of sunshine in the evening. I am going to have a look at some concertining trellis to see if I can make doors to goacross

In Flåm today. Managed a pleasant fjord side walk late morning, and got back to the ship just as it started to rain. On the lookout for any birds or interesting plants, bird count total was a magpie, a pied wagtail and some sparrows! I did see a pretty wild orchid, and something purple I haven’t identified yet. There were a lot of rather nice hedges of Rosa rugosa, all in flower. Also saw a hedge of clipped weigela which was an interesting idea.
Enjoying ourselves so far. Biggest problem is scheduling meals. At home, we tend to have breakfast and a late lunch / early dinner, with maybe a small snack around 6.30 if needed. Far too much food on offer, I’ve just had a post lunch Irish coffee and a pistachio macaron, and trying not to look at the afternoon tea things being laid out! Maybe an afternoon nap so we can stay awake to enjoy the sail out!
Now on our way along the fjord. Impressive mountains! IMG_2491.jpeg IMG_2476.jpeg

Evening everybody, well a day out at a nursery/GC can't cope with those mountains @Ergate, even though the nursery is called Rocky Mountain! What a coincidence! Glad you're enjoying the cruise.

I posted earlier @Busy-Lizzie on the Rose thread so have only just caught up on your sorry tale of flooded woe - what a nasty thing to confront when you had just got home. Hope the insurance will cover all it should do.

We had heavy rain overnight as forecasted, a good 2 inches so pleased with that and it rained heavily again on the way home so I was glad my friend was driving this time. We had a lovely time, a good lunch and good plant shopping spree. I got a bit carried away as their prices were very reasonable, a lovely blue viticella clematis, marigolds for the broad beans, thyme, mint and 3 red/deep pink diascias. I have two largish tulip pots which need emptying out so thought I might as well put something in the top, decided on lavenders in the end as being drought resistant. We ended up going back into the cafe for a cuppa before coming home and watched two enormous Dutch lorries full of plants trying to reverse into the car park - great fun, but great respect when a young lady jumped out of one driving seat!

That's a jolly good practice run @Penny_Forthem, well done you.

Don't feel like cooking much so it's just bangers and mash tonight. Have a good evening all.

@Penny_Forthem :bravo:you are doing really well. @Goldenlily26 it does sound a real nuisance and poor Poppy being intimidated by the intruder. Stunning pictures @Ergates. I do have to say that the mountain picture made me think immediately of Mount Rushmore and the 'faces' melting in extreme heat and running down the hillside. The orchid is like one of mine - just flowering now. Thank you for posting them.

I saw your post on the Members' roses thread @lizzie27.

We have just had another downpour but too short for flooding. Glad I took photos earlier as everything is droopy again. Lawn is squelchy.

I rang the Insurance company. Apparently I'm not covered for the freezer defrosting. I took out a new policy with a new company when I moved here 4 years ago. I told them I wanted similar to my old policy. I assumed that the freezer was covered, but it wasn't.

The more recent flood just needs things to dry out, nothing to replace. Some of the photo albums of when my children were small are a bit damaged as they were on the bottom shelf of the bookcase.

I weeded the orchard bed today. The roses are flowering.

How annoying about the insurance, @Busy-Lizzie. I have to renew ours next week, I’ll have to read through the details again now. I do hate all that, does my head in, worrying if I’ve forgotten to declare some obscure piece of information. What a beautiful garden!
Well done, @Penny_Forthem, but do allow some extra rest time between activities!

Love your deck @Penny_Forthem. Do you paint down there weather permitting? @Busy-Lizzie that is aggravating but just one of those things. Your gardener has done a good job there keeping your garden all neat and tidy for your return.

A very good morning to you all. It is so overcast here that I'm hoping the tap controller heard my pleas yesterday and is going to turn the tap on soon! A happy Sherlock Holmes day!

                                Good morning to you all!

Sunny now but it was overcast when I got up - quite stiffly. I do some stretching exercises before getting out of bed. Painful this morning due to the humidity. Oh well.

Bravo @Penny_Forthem Your garden is stunning @Busy-Lizzie The roses are magnificent. This time of year is so beautiful for flowering gardens. How are your broad beans?
A nuisance regarding your cat being invaded @Goldenlily26 They are so territorial - someone is looking for new climes maybe and Poppy is old now.

An early ride this morning with Fizz and lots to do.
                                Have an enjoyable day everyone.
