Good evening all. I've had a quick read back and whilst speeding through your post @Goldenlily26 I saw the reference to the oven cleaning and then your last remark regarding illegal activity. It was only when I read it properly that I realised that the 'illegal activity' was not related to the oven cleaning. I was delighted the last time I cleaned my oven when I discovered that the shelves would fit in my dishwasher. Any burnt on stuff that didn't come off totally only required a quick dunk in hot soapy water.
@Songbird, I smiled when I read your post about 23. Pleased to see he is still keeping you on your toes. Do you still build 'castles'?
Have a great trip and catch up with your friend @Ergates. I bet you have a lot to catch up on. Sorry to read about your OH's sting @Busy-Lizzie and really hope it doesn't spoil his enjoyment of eating.

I was in and out like a fiddler's elbow today, dodging the rain. Can't say I achieved much, either in or out.

A very good morning one and all. Had my first 'aaah' of the day when there was a little item about sea otters being taught to play a watery version of basketball to help avoid arthritis. Keepers in the US had introduced this and it was so cute to see the little creatures enjoying themselves. They were better at scoring baskets than I would ever be. Whatever you have planned for today I hope you have a good one.

            Good morning to you all!!

Not sunny. Not windy. Not raining - just overcast. We are due rain and bad weather today and tomorrow after the heat - but not so far. It hasn't been too warm as we get a lovely sea breeze here. Parts of France further north have been having very hot weather.

I was sorry to read back about the insect stings @Obelix-Vendée and @Busy-Lizzie Vinegar helps soothe the itchies as does Tiger Balm.

So I am off with Ma Precieuse before it gets too balmy!!

              Good morning.

Dull here too @Tui34 and set to be calm and mild all day. Excellent gardening weather but I have a committee meeting this morning before patchwork workshop this afternoon. At least that means I should avoid new wasp stings and roses shredding my skin. Right wrist and lower forearm are a bit swollen and itchy which doesn't make for a good sleep so 2 mugs of coffee this morning.

I've asked OH to do a second rotavation on my new island bed while I'm out on the grounds that he then has time to remove any more crud - lots of stones, as usual - so it can be raked out before he disappears and get a good soaking when the rain comes except the powers that be have removed Thursday's rain and reduced Friday's. Humph!

I hope all stings, injuries, illnesses and arthritic bits calm down for today and we all have a good one.

Morning everyone, today is set to be the last completely dry day for the rest of the week. We need the rain but there's still loads to do outside so better get on.

Morning everyone, weather's very variable here at the moment, one moment very sunny, then the next, overcast. Trying to make my mind up what to wear as I'm going into town for a haircut and mooch round the shops. Sis is out all day with an old school friend so I've a free day. I've already potted up half a dozen plants for her to take home tomorrow.

I haven't much to do in the garden, apart from the incessant weeding or brushing the paving clean, an ongoing task all year round because of the nearby big trees. Some of my shrubs are showing signs of being short of water and dropping their leaves but I've decided they'll have to take their chances - it's survival of the fittest here! It's only the roses in pots I water regularly and some of the clematis in the ground. Hopefully we'll get some rain tomorrow.

Have a good day, hope those with stings/aches etc feel better soon.

Glorious morning here in Surrey. Friend’s flat overlooks an area of parkland which leads down to an offshoot? of the Thames. I’ve been watching the local foxes, one of which is having a morning snooze under the trees. Very noisy birds, including parakeets, but plenty of crows, jackdaws and jays in evidence. It’s like being in the countryside! Home by this evening, not looking forward to the train journey.

Morning all on this Monday, little after 10Am here. Busy still with taxes, final hurtle, husband reviewing, make sure all the adding and subtracting was right.
Made plane reservations yesterday to California for the wedding end of August. going first class this time, not sitting cramped up for 6 hour flight. using some points also to cover. still have to reserve a car.
Few days ago two folks come over for extra plants that need to be gone, today another person to help me get rid of extra hostas, and hardy geraniums and few shrubs. His son moved into an house up in the Poconos in PA, so stuff for the son.
Weeded a bunch yesterday. Body did not like it. LOL
Organizing a few up coming car shows, one this month, 2 hours from here.
Off to the food store I guess.

Good afternoon everyone. Well it is official - my brain has exploded! I got a new phone yesterday and my chargers were not the right size, despite my old phone being the same brand. Ordered a new one and it arrived today so I then set about charging it up and doing the reset, transferring info wirelessly from old to new. At one stage I felt like going into the garden and screaming but all is settled now until I can start disabling/uninstalling all the bloat that came on the phone and transferring the SIM card. I am leaving that task until tomorrow as I'm quizzing in Bolton tonight. I will wish you all lovely evenings and catch up with you all in the morning.

                            Good evening all.

This morning's funeral went off as well as could be expected; the church absolutely packed, and plenty of humour as well as sadness in the service. She had spoken to the Dean a few days before she died, specifying the passage from Revelation she wanted him to speak about, and making him promise his talk wouldn't last longer than three minutes... she was quite a character, and will be a big miss in the community as well as in the church, where she was a church warden.

While I was out, OH cut the grass, because today looked as if it would be dry until 6pm, unlike all the other days this week (which look decidedly damp). So we're tidy for the moment. I cut the paths through the meadow, round the apple trees, and edged all the lawns. If we possibly can, we'll give the grass another going over before Sunday, when we leave for our 3 weeks in Finland.

I'm surprised to find that we have a very good crop on the lower branches of the cooking apple tree. The petals were entirely stripped off by the bullfinches before the buds opened, so I assumed there would be nothing to interest any pollinators - but then I saw a number of large bumblebees buzzing from petal-less flower to flower. I think I'll have to do some thinning once we get back from our holiday.

The wind is howling down the chimney, and rain rattling against the windows. It feels a bit like November....

Weary now but we had a very good committee meeting and then an enjoyable workshop with people catching up on personal and guided projects. Lots of chat and laughter. Only 3 more sessions this year as we have a public holiday next Monday for Pentecost.

Got home to find OH has turned over the new bed, sent the robot round the downstairs, hung up the washing and was cutting the grass in the veg plot. Not bad going so I made him a lovely dinner based on Rick Stein's seafood gratin.

Much itching and quite a bit of coughing today so I shall have an early night.

When LIDL goes Italian here @Penny_Forthem I stock up on canned cherry tomatoes, morello cherries in syrup, artichoke hearts in oil and the richer, thicker balsamic vingears. Never go anywhere near salami and we tend not to get cheeses other than Parmesan and Gran Padano but if I see Provolone, I stock up.

Hope you had a good time pottering about in Bath today @lizzie27 and that your journey home was smooth @Ergates.

Have a peaceful evening and a good sleep everyone.

Looked back and saw I didn't post this morning.

OH's lip is back to normal, thank goodness. It was very swollen last night.

I planted my 30 runner bean plants, hoping that we'll get a few beans this year. Depends on handyman watering them when we are in Norfolk in July.

Then I finished pressure washing the lower terrace. Handyman was supposed to come tomorrow to put up the gazebo on the lower patio but he sent a WhatsApp so say he couldn't come, he wants to come on Wednesday instead. We are going to a good friend's husband's funeral on Wednesday.

                                I finished the ironing mountain.
