    Evening folks.

A typical Sunday here - bit of gardening, bit of DIY and visited MIL (Welsh cakes consumed).

I’ll be listening out for ‘the’ owl tonight as there was some screeching noises last night.

Here’s to a good week ahead. A bit warmer wouldn’t go a miss.

Good evening all. Had a very busy coffee morning and I have been dealing with the prize raffle tickets due to be drawn at our strawberry fair next month. First prize is a helicopter flight for two - I would love that! @Ergates in the little village where my Bestie lives and where we do our Food Bank volunteering, there is a corner where there is a large raised bed filled with herbs of all types for people to help themselves and it has never been mistreated. Sounds as if your day was very interesting @Busy-Lizzie. Have you heard anything further from your family and how they are adjusting to that hideous episode?

I will be looking out for the strawberry moon on June 10. It was very gold in colour last night when we left the party. Going to wish you all a very good evening now and I'll see you all in the morning.

Can't remember if I posted this morning or not and too lazy to read right back through so apologies if I've missed important bits.
Glad you enjoyed the party after all @Ladybird4, I must confess I wouldn't have wanted to go, not my scene at all.
Hope you got to Prior Park GC @Ergates and found the nice upstairs cafe, a bit pricey this year I'm afraid but the cakes are usually good.

Better weather today but still very windy which I hate. Pottered about for an hour before lunch and afterwards decided to tackle a very overgrown winter flowering clematis on the terrace. I soon wished I hadn't as it was a horrible mess underneath the green bits. Will have to have another go at it tomorrow as I've already filled one green bin.

Sounds as though you've both enjoyed your day @Busy-Lizzie and @Penny_Forthem.
Hope everybody else has a good day too.

Heading home in the morning. I found my way to the garden centre, and had a good nose round. Very well stocked, although it seemed rather expensive. Everything looked very healthy though. Didn’t get tempted, nothing that I could risk trying to manhandle home on two trains!
I’ve had good use out of my bus pass this weekend. As well as my trips into town, I gave the dog a surprise. We walked along into the nearby village centre, probably at the maximum of her stamina, and then instead of retracing our steps, we hopped on the bus home. She seemed a bit bemused, but was quite happy to find herself back in familiar territory in minutes! I have taken her on a train before, but she is more used to travelling by car.
I’m very envious of all your musical experiences. My attempt to join the local choir last year resulted in me catching Covid at my first attendance, which has very much put me off.

Evening all, from an airport hotel in Dublin. (Early flight tomorrow morning!)
@Ladybird4 @Ergates : We lived in Todmorden (west Yorks) before we moved here. It's a former weaving town where there are lots of little terraced houses with no gardens, which inspired a couple of local women to start the "Incredible Edible" movement, with fruit, vegetables and herbs growing on unused land throughout the town, for anyone to use. Culinary herbs in planters on the station were popular with commuters returning home from work. There's veg in front of the police station, apple trees and soft fruit in the garden around the medical centre, and fruit, veg and flowers on waste ground next to the market. A group of people look after the various areas. I don't think the ladies who had the initial idea had any expectation that they were actually starting a worldwide movement, but they found themselves hosting interested groups from Japan, Norway and France, as well as the UK.

A very good morning one and all. @Ergates it is funny how we gardeners get 'drawn' to any kind of GC. Well we just have to look don't we? @Liriodendron, I loved your post about the Incredible Edibles. I do have to confess that I haven't heard of them before but will be looking out for further examples now. Bless those wonderful ladies. No quiz night tonight so we are having a Curry night instead. No eating through my day today!

                  Good morning all.

I hope you have a lovely holiday, @Liriodendron.

It's a bank holiday here today, Whit Monday. Children have a day off school but not everyone takes the day off, some shops will be open. A man should be coming to change the water meter this afternoon to one that can be read from a van in the road.

Forecast is hot and sunny, 28C this afternoon. I'll do gardening this morning and change the bedding this afternoon. Must put on a clothes wash this morning.

Hello everyone, another week starts. They seem to come round so quickly.

We have had a very quiet weekend compared to most of you. Saturday was spent working (me) and painting (OH) whilst it rained for most of the day. Very soft mizzle, so not a lot quantity wise but welcome all the same. Yesterday we were in the garden for a couple of hours. I finally started planting out my Cosmos and Rudbeckia, about half done. OH did the grass and edges. After that we did…nothing. We were both feeling a bit ached and tired so had a very lazy afternoon chatting and watching TV and then an early night. I think it was (hopefully) the final tail end of the head cold we brought back from holiday.

Both feeling much brighter this morning so plan is a walk in Sutton Park this morning and then back into the garden to finish planting out. Have already made a chickpea salad for lunch so I can resist a bacon buttie at the Park. It’s due to be a bit warmer today, the weekend was quite chilly.

Hope everyone has a good day and any Monday blues quickly disperse

Good morning all, from Dublin airport. As usual, we are ridiculously early for our flight, so we're having a coffee to pass the time (and wake us up!).

I managed to hump my 3 tomato pots down to the greenhouse before going to club. The wind was feeezing, about 12 people turned up to play. It is eerily still today. Not a breath of wind, no sun, creepy!
I am going out with my daughter for a coffee later this morning, I am hoping to get rid of my surplus chilli plants by donating them to the community garden, also I am giving my daughter the runner bean plants I have grown for her as well as a few Morning Glory plants.

My son says his rossti quiche is "OK". The case does not have a lot of flavour. I am going to add 1/4 of a chicken stock cube to the potato case when I make mine to see if that helps.

Good morning. Sunny and dry here and still. 24C expected. As it's a public holiday we have morning only noise restrictions so OH is manfully mowing grass while he can. I'm about to do a treatment on our teak table so it can dry thoroughly and then I'll oil it tomorrow.

More planting after that and, no doubt, more quarrying of stones. I have luscious bearded irises in older beds that need lifting and dividing so the sprinkler will go on for that this evening and I can play again tomorrow while OH is out golfing.

Enjoy your curry evening @Ladybird4. Hope it doesn't get too hot for you @Busy-Lizzie and that all is well with your healing fracture @Penny_Forthem.

@Goldenlily26 I suspect the type of potato plays a part as well as good seasoning. Possum and I came across a restaurant at Cholet that does burgers with rösti instead of buns. Very good, but it is known for the quality of its beef which helps too.

Happy Monday everyone whether at work or play.

Trundling across the Somerset levels on the train. I can see the motorway in the distance, and am very thankful I’m not on it. The traffic does seem to be moving, for once, though!
Some lovely views, although rather more fields of solar panels than I remember. The new style pylons are rather scary. The train is running 15 minutes late due to ‘congestion’. How is that possible? Did someone sneakily pop an extra train on the rails?
@Liriodendron, safe journey. I remember staying in a hotel by Dublin airport a couple of times. I think it was called something like Bewleys? Our room overlooked a field of horses, who were indulging in naughtiness every time we looked out! When our daughter was in San Francisco for a year, it was easier and cheaper to fly from Exeter to Dublin, and on from there, rather than brave the trek to Heathrow airport.
