If I remember correctly, today is the start of the Finnish Choral Festival, so I hope @Liriodendron and her OH have a wonderful time.

Thank you, @Ladybird4 - you are correct. The "ensembles" competition is today, plus various concerts. We'll be late to bed tonight after a performance by a group called "Les Itinerantes", 3 French girls who won last year's contest. Should be good...

Morning all. The moon was beautiful last night - it started pink, then orange and was glowing in the clear sky once higher. I’m hoping it will be clear again tonight, although I need to be asleep early.

Have a decent day all, whatever you are doing today.

I planted out my sweetpeas and Morning Glory. Finally. Gave them all a drink and that was me bushed.

I got it wrong with my son's quiche. He thought the shell was OK but the filling too soft so I have suggested adding an extra egg yolk next time he makes it, or cooks it for a bit longer.

It is a glorious morning, breezy, clear blue sky with lots of sunshine, no appointments so time to do more in the garden. The birds are singing their socks off, my neighbour's cockerel is crowing and the hens are letting the world and his wife know they have just laid an egg. I have opened the windows and closed the curtains to let the breeze blow through. All is right with the world.
Hopefully we can all enjoy a few days respite with the better weather, until the thunder and rain comes back at the end of the week.

Morning. One of those rather gorgeous mornings, when all is still, the sun is shining and it's warm enough for coffee on the patio.
The rain, thunder, lightning, plague of locusts may (or may not) hit us tomorrow, depending on who's doing the forecasting.
Hub is on the rota for watering the flower displays around the village and has his 'induction' this afternoon. One of the ladies is the wife of the driving test examiner, so he's bought some L plates to wear for a laugh.
I bought a pack of 3 different varieties of runners from Suttons. One variety seems to have died, with no noticeable cause. Most odd. Unfortunately, I don't know which one it was, as they were not in individual packs. So my plants have been cut down by a third and I'd only sown 12.
I bought some beautiful very dark indigo petunias from Aldi yesterday for the caravan deck. However, I have spied a lovely place for them on the deck at home, so if you need me later, that's here I'll be!
Enjoy the wonderful festivals @Liriodendron and @Obelix-Vendée and make the most of 'summer'!

                Morning everybody,

I'm just having a coffee before chucking myself out in the garden again. I'm planning to empty a very narrow bed in the courtyard today which entails digging up and replanting about half a dozen lime green heucheras , some daffs and snowdrop bulbs and the remains of three shrubs I cut down yesterday. I then want to lower the soil level to below the paving - so that will keep me busy!

After a 'thin' day yesterday, really, really annoyed to find I weigh more this morning than less - it's so not fair!

Enjoy your lovely day @Goldenlily26 and everybody else of course.

Having a relaxing morning ( breakfast at the Donkeys, and a walk) Sunny and blue skies, a gorgeous sunny day. Yesterday was manic, one and a half green bins to fill, and I was out in the afternoon. Spent a couple of hours pruning back the five camellias by the front door. They have been very vigorous this last year, and getting far too tall. Generated a lot of stuff, which I shredded, and trimmed back a Christmas box. Both bins full by lunchtime.
I’m now in that dangerous state of complacency, when I have two weeks to refill them, so no need to rush. And I will end up as usual frantically chopping and shredding at the last minute!
I would so love a bed of Lily of the valley! One of my favourite flowers, and scents (Diorissimo)
There about three plants in the woodland, but they haven’t spread at all.
My one peony hasn’t flowered since I planted it several years ago.

Greetings all. It is very hot here with 35C expected but rain due overnight and that should cool things down to a more comfy 24C for tomorrow and thru the weekend which will be much more comfy for the rest of my planting plans. I watered the rose garden last night to make lifting of irises much easier but it's drippingly hot out there so they can wait a day.

I've grown clematis in pots @lizzie27 but you do have to be careful about which variety and also consistent feeding and watering as, except for the alpinas and macropetalas, they are as hungry and thirsty as roses and tomatoes. I have some on the go now, waiting for their new home to be dug out and prepared.

Found some wild orchids (orchis mascula) in the long grass/no mow area yesterday. We had one a few years ago so I marked the spot to save it from being mown but no show for the next 3 years so imagine my delight at finding 6 yesterday.

                    Enjoy all the singing @Liriodendron.

No festival for me this weekend @Penny_Forthem. I'm staying well clear and concentrating on planting and prepping potted treasures for 5 days of OH husbandry while I'm in SW UK.

Good evening all. I spent most of today wrestling a Himalayan musk rose that is determined to conquer the world - well my garden at least. I have never known such a vicious plant, it seems to snag every bit of bare skin on my hands and face and failing that my clothes. I also picked half a dozen thorns out of the soles of my gardening shoes. As you did @Ergates, I got all the bits chopped up and confined to the green bin. I have been trying to remove this rose for several months now and am still not finished. It has taken up residence in my Camellia and some of its 'trunks' look as if they have grafted themselves onto the Camellia. I could really do with a new saw or failing that a power saw. I think they do make small ones as using a chainsaw would frighten the life out of me. When I was too tired to proceed I called it a day and Round 63 can wait for another day.
I am on Food Bank duty tomorrow and I had to load up my car with food donations from my friends to take with me when I go to pick up my Bestie. Going to sign out for today so night night all you lovely folk and I'll catch up with you all tomorrow.

Hello there everyone. I didn't have a great night last night but onwards and upwards. There was an item today on the news about a heritage pear discovered in Cocker Bar Orchard in Preston. Perhaps only two trees left in existence. I must get on to my friend who has the heritage orchard and see if he and his group have knowledge of this one. It would be nice if they could help with the preservation. I'll catch up with you all later after Food Bank. Hope you all have lovely days and that @Liriodendron is not too tired after last night.

Morning Ladybird4, sorry to hear you didn't have a good night. Hope your day at the Food Bank goes well.

I woke early at 5 am, suddenly, from a nightmare about being trapped in flood waters. Not nice, I had a stinking headache as well so got up half an hour later. I've had some tea, cereal and paracetamol so feel a bit better already. It's started raining as predicted and the air feels very heavy, waiting for the thunder now.

It's probably going to be too wet for any gardening and today we're going to visit a very sick friend - not really looking forward to that but we feel we must.

                              Good morning to you all.

Overcast and sticky and 22°C at 7am already. It will be a shorty run with Fizz this morning. The sun is due to come out this afternoon.

@lizzie27 Your dream represents stress and tension......among other things.

                              Shopping morning today.

I have to agree with you @Busy-Lizzie and @Obelix-Vendée about the French audience at their children's various concerts - even at a religious celebration such as a baptism or communion etc. They talk!! Amongst themselves!! Absolutely no respect for the work that the children have done to prepare a concert etc. I was flabbergasted when I first came here. People outside the venu smoking and shouting. I thought it was just the "midi" but it seems that it's a national thing. I attended concerts with schoolchildren - and they HAD TO listen and be respectful of the players. And they did. So why can't they carry on that respect? Hmmm. Rant over.

Fizz is due a bath today - later on. She is a good girl and doesn't move and her reward is playing with the water sprayed over her afterwards.

                              Better get a move on.

I had a very satisfactory day. Planted out the last of the tomatoes and some of the veg. Dozed in a chair in the conservatory until Poppy began hollering in my ear. When I went to feed her I looked at the clock and it was 7.45pm. No wonder she was hungry.
I still have the sweetcorn, peas and runner beans to plant out in the open, I feel shattered today, lugging bags of manure and compost around, as well as filled pots, from the patio down to the greenhouse.
We had a massive downpour during the night, that will wash in the stinky, sticky manure I put around the garlic and I will not have to water thank goodness.
This morning is overcast and mizzling again. Quite chilly as well. Hopefully it will blow through.
I made lots of mess yesterday so have that to clear up.
I spotted a few very late flowers on the quince tree so might have one or two fruits.
The first of the 9 Morello cherries are almost ripe, I cannot decide whether to grit my teeth and eat them raw, they are so sour! Or freeze them and wait for the rest to ripen before cooking them and having them with some ice cream or Cornish clotted cream on scones. Decisions, decisions!
