Mostly use the dishwasher, but for those things I hand wash, I just put them on the drying rack and in less than 10 minutes they are dry, so no drying dishes etc.

Greetings all. It is hotter than forecast so I've spent the morning planting more treasures and then retreated indoors for lunch at 2pm. Just girding my loins to head out again and pot up and/move all th erest to the shelter of the barn wher OH can set the sprinkler to water them at least once while I'm away. I've also found and laid out some more seep hose for the bed I planted up with squashes and tomatoes.

Dishwasher for me whenever possible which leaves just non-stick pans and a wooden salad bowl to be washed by hand then left to drain. Anything sticky gets a soak with Ariel powder (tip I picked up in the 70s from Shirley Conran's Superwoman) and then easily comes clean. I'm more likely to use a tea towel to squeeze grated courgettes or potatoes than to dry dishes.

Have a lovely afternoon all, whatever you're doing.

Good afternoon all. I've just come in breathless having had to make a dash to get all of my washing brought in as the tap controller in the sky decided to defy the weather forecaster and offload some extra water. Unfortunately, things are still a bit dampish so I may leave them in the laundry basket until tomorrow to see if there is any drying in the air then, when I can risk hanging them out again. The only time I use tea towels is at tea/coffee mornings at Church. Dishwasher sorts most and the rest air dry in the rack. I guess its easier when there is only me and 'im (Cricket). Any small metal items most often associated with my cake baking are put in the grill compartment where the heat from the oven below dries them nicely.

Anyone have a ‘best’ tea towel? Mine hangs on oven door (RHS one), but is not for using! Dishwasher means no tea towels but I have kitchen hand towels (which are thick tea towels). Don’t get me started on flannels! Absolutely gross imo.

Back from MIL’s where I pottered in garden and filled garden bin. Took her a dwarf sunflower and one of my Strawflowers (both grown from seed).

It’s nearly time to activate Sunday evening mode: prepping work stuff, cooking something which will have leftovers to use tomorrow, and shower/hair wash etc.

          Enjoy your evening all.

We mainly use tea towels at the 'van; no dishwasher there (except hub!) and no room to leave to drip dry things.
We went to a GC to look at solar water features. They had none, but I did spy some nice solar lights, so treated us. Of course, we have now got @Ladybird4's rain, so must wait.
I have found a website for solar water features. I'm afraid the list of what I do not want is extensive; no cherubs, water wheels, gross dog statues, spouting fish, just a simple trickling ensemble!

The Mannekin Pis is actually very small but he does have costumes, usually donated by visiting dignitaries, to mark special occasions such as Xmas or feast days or big events. There's a museum nearby which houses over 1000 of them.

More importantly, there is a Janneke Pis introduced in 1987 to address the imbalance of the sexes and improve business in local restaurants. Her facial expression is spot on - Jeanneke Pis - Wikipedia.

I am done - planted as much as possible, watered as much as possible and potted on what needed it to survive the next 5 days of temps in the low 30s and not a drop of rain. I've soaked my feet and scrubbed them clean - striking white lines where my flip-flop straps were, had a shower and washed my hair and cooked dinner. Flopping now and looking forward to a week of being clean after a week or more of mud larks.

I have a teeny little solar fountain that floats @Penny_Forthem - just a gentle sprinkle and no manky sculpture. Haven't used it yet as it's intended for a small water feature in an 80cm wide black tub but that's another project.

@AuntyRach I have several special tea-towels that have sat in my drawer for decades - Irish linen with Celtic symbols, Ozzie ones with Aboriginal drawings, an Italian one and a French lavender festival in Haute Provence........ Never use them tho I ought to really.

Glad you found out about your power cut before it became a problem @Busy-Lizzie and that you're enjoying all the concerts @Liriodendron

I did actually frame a tea towel with a picture of a steam train on. It graced the wall for some years, and when we got fed up with it, it went into the selection for use. Most things here go in the dishwasher or are left to air dry, but I do handwash the airfryer baskets, and sometimes have to dry them if they’re not ready for the next session.
I do have a weakness for pretty tea towels though! I’ve bought several with birds or butterflies on, and the Lace Museum in Honiton had a nice range with pictures of local lace designs on. I’ve taken to using them instead of wrapping paper, with a bit of ribbon round them.
No rain here today, I’ve had to water the pots and the hanging basket.

Good morning everyone. A lovely sunny start to today here. Thank you for that new bit of knowledge for me @Obelix-Vendée, I had never heard of Jeanneke Pis.
@Ergates I have to 'fess up to succumbing to tea towel temptation and have several pretty ones that just begged to be bought. I do have ancient ones from my nieces and nephews when they did this sort of thing at their schools. Each pupil would draw a self portrait and one of the teacher and all the images plus the selected teacher pic would be printed onto tea towels. I must get those returned to them as I'm sure they will bring back some memories and laughter.

@Ergates wrapping presents in cloth is an ancient Korean tradition except that, being poor, they'd save scraps and stitch them together. It's a technique called Pojagi - all hand stitched and reworked over th edecades to become something beautiful in its own right. The modern machine version is called Khekki and modern hand and machine sewists tend to use organdy to make screens for doors and windows but I've also seen a light jacket made using the technique.

Great idea to return those tea-towels @Ladybird4. I hope they appreciate that you kept them.

It is a cool, fresh and sunny start to the day here but will hit 30C this pm and get hotter thru the week. I hope all my watering gets done while I'm away! I've topped up the chooks' feeder and water and filled the fat ball thingies for the garden birds. Now to do my packing.

                        Have a good week everyone.

                          Good morning all.

@Ladybird4 one of my French DILs is a primary school teacher in France and they did that in her class so I have a tea towels covered in children's drawings of children's faces.

Friends are coming to lunch tomorrow so I'm going to the SM and I will prepare food this afternoon. We will be 7 including OH and me. Two of them used to have a house here but they sold it and retired to Devon. It will be nice to see them again.

Went to club and got frozen! The wind was so cold, despite the sunshine. I only played one game then came home and thawed out. Made myself a prawn curry and a potato curry, hard work I was so stiff. Plenty left over for the next couple of days to clear up.
I did an online SM shop, it is being delivered this evening, so no need to go shopping for another couple of weeks. I am hoping to get more jobs done in the garden if I am not too stiff.

Monday. Busy week for us, Wednesday we leave with the show car for thank goodness a 2 1/2 hour drive to set the car up indoors as a feature car for the car show beginning Thursday afternoon. We will stay the night Thursday and Friday at an Airbnb. Our car will not be judged, it will be behind lots of rope just to be looked at. Husband has been asked to be a judge of the other non feature cars, and we get a thank you lunch gathering on Saturday. Home Saturday night.
So just busy with errands etc. packing little etc. taking food items. Have a list of possible restaurants to try there. Raining here. Hope to cut grass before we leave. Take care.

Gone rather warm! Salad niçoise tonight. I am very sad that our favourite pitted dry black olives are no longer available anywhere. We used to get them from my Cypriot friend, Ari, when we did farmer's markets together. Crespo made an acceptable alternative.
I really dislike the texture of those in brine.
Got lettuce and herbs to pick and hope to be eating our own tomatoes soon!
We have decided to go to the van on Wednesday. The forecast is for warm, sunny days and it's usually cooler by a few degrees up there.
