      Good evening to you all!

Yes, it is hot!! Fizz and i were out again early and I came home and did some weeding but by 9.30am I had to call it a day. Be careful @Busy-Lizzie of sunstroke. Theose d...m..d weeds do grow faster than the plants and they are difficult to rip out. Shame about the lunch. 7.30pm here and still 30°C. I can't water anything. I watered last night at 10pm accompanied by mozzies!!

Glad you feel good about the care company for your Dad @AuntyRach I hope you are not working this weekend.

Lovely photograph @Liriodendron Such a calm place.

It's going to be a hot night - again. I have slicker pads in the freezer which I put on my pillow before bed and then under my pillow - to turn over when it gets hottie!!

Stay cool everyone. Drink water! Have a pleasant evening.

Evening all. Glad you like the photos - I've taken rather too many...

Good news about your dad's carers, @AuntyRach . It must be reassuring to know he has reliable helpers, so the burden isn't just yours.

Hope the heat subsides soon, especially for you, @Busy-Lizzie , trying to get your garden ready to be left again. It's been 18C here today, fine for walking. Still bright sunshine at nearly 10pm; sunset tonight is at 23.05, sunrise tomorrow at 3.04. Blackout blinds are helpful, but there's a lot of cheerful birdsong when we're trying to get to sleep... It's the Juhannus festival tomorrow in Finland, with bonfires, floral decorations on houses, folk dancing and a lot of alcohol, celebrating the summer solstice. Fortunately we discovered today that cafes and a lot of shops will be shut until Monday.

@Ladybird4 - our pipe dream of living here was never really going to happen - too many down sides, like distance from family - and winter temperatures, and shortness of daylight, would be another disadvantage. But it's truly beautiful in the summer...

              I have been awol.
Oh has not been well again. A bit concerning.
We cancelled the in laws coming over for a tapas meal tonight.
We are still at the van and thankfully, it's been overcast today. Will stay till Sunday if he's OK.
My chiropodist appointment was also cancelled, so I went home and fed and watered the toms.
              My first gazania is out!
We had dreams of moving to Anglesey @Liriodendron. Not as far as Finland. Hasn't happened.
What are slicker pads @Tui34 ?

Do hope your OH will be ok soon @Penny_Forthem, do you think the heat has anything to do with it or has been cooler wherever the van is? I've never grown gazanias - what colour are they?

It's still 22c here so we're putting off bedtime for a bit longer. I've just finished watering all my pots, it was dark when I finished. Our first crop of Broad Beans now have actual beans appearing.

                  Summer solstice.jpg
A happy Summer Solstice everyone. It did actually occur at 03:42 this morning and, in a sleepless moment, I was there! Bit too far away from Stonehenge to experience it there. Brace yourself folks as the nights will start drawing in from now! There have been some warnings for severe weather in the next few days. I would love a really good thunderstorm. I think my garden would like it also. Sadly, I have lost a young, recently planted hydrangea despite watering it faithfully so I will have to remove this and wait until this forecasted weather breaks before thinking of putting in something to replace it. @Tui34 I love your Snoopy pic - being a huge fan of Peanuts myself.
@Penny_Forthem I was sorry to read that your OH is a bit below par and as mentioned by @lizzie27, I wonder if the heat is contributing towards this.
I have no commitments on my time today so I will be mooching in the garden, garage and greenhouse. I am still waiting for a delivery of 3 regal pelargoniums so will have to keep a look out for my postie/delivery company.

                    Morning folks. Happy Summer Solstice.

I’m planning to do a swift SM run soon then can potter about outside. If it too warm later, I can watch GW indoors.

I hope OH is ok @Penny_Forthem.

                    Have a lovely weekend all.

Very windy but hot all day. Didn't do anything outside all day. Did some watering around 9.00pm when it cooled down.
I had an emergency appointment with a Dr. first thing, had a massive pain in my lower leg, was worried it might be a thrombosis. Absolutely not according to the Dr. who thinks it is coming from my hip? She has referred me for an urgent X-ray, whenever that might be.
I have been around the house to open up, just as we had a short sharp sprinkle of big raindrops. Very overcast, still close and warm.
My leg is still very painful, just taken some painkillers to help.
I think the remote control for the TV is or has died. I keep losing the signal so unable to watch anything. Very frustrating.
The Morning Glory and sweetpeas are recovering from being planted out and beginning to grow up their canes, the plants still in the conservatory are desperate to be outside, hopefully in the next few days.

Hello everyone, another hot sunny day starting here.
We decided to brave the heat and have a day out yesterday. We visited the Cotswold Sculpture Park, new to us, and then a revisit to nearby Miserden. Funnily enough, Miserden also have a sculpture event on at the moment so we had a very arty day. It was interesting as some artists were exhibiting at both events and it emphasised how important position and setting can be to a piece of art. One piece we had fallen in love with at the Park, we were then relieved we had decided to think about it when we saw it again at Miserden. Please note that the “thinking about it” was part of our “what we will do with tonight’s lottery win” game

This morning we are visiting a local wholesale Nursery as they have one of their public open days. I don’t need any plants but it would be rude to not show our support  After that I think we will just flop. We actually have rain forecast for this afternoon so I might be praying and keeping everything crossed whilst flopping

Sorry OH is unwell @Penny_Forthem, this heat can’t be helping either.

Wishing everyone a good weekend whatever that may look like and involve x

OOppss! I have just had a phone call offering me an appointment for an X-ray at 11.15am this morning. I had better get dressed and get my butt into gear. Just enough time to close the house down before going out.

Brilliant to get an X-ray so quickly, @Goldenlily26. Last year, I had a dreadful pain inside my upper leg, very deep and lasted for a while. Very worried it was something nasty in the bone marrow, but turned out it was referred pain from my hip. And all it needed was some exercises to build up the muscles round the hip and backside! Evidently, all the bulk round that part turns out to be fat, not muscle!
Hope your OH starts to feel better soon, @Penny_Forthem.
We actually gardened from 10 till 1.30 yesterday, with a short break for a drink. I had generated a huge pile of cuttings and pulled up brambles, so I set the shredder up in the shade and worked my way through the lot. OH trimmed the laurel hedge by the road, and cut back lots of overhanging branches. The plus side of having so many large trees is that we usually have some part of the garden in shade. Got far more done than we expected, both green bins are full, well in advance for Wednesday!
Out for a celebratory walk this morning, taking our lightweight raincoats just in case. We have some showers predicted, and it’s fairly cloudy, but still very warm.

                              Morning from a breezy hilltop.
Good that you have an x ray booked @Goldenlily26 Hope they can resolve it ASAP.
Oh seems better this morning, so hope we can go out later. Better keep an eye on the lightning map though.
I love a good sculpture; it was my 'thing' at college. I really would love to try carving. My g grandfather carved the lecturn in mold parish church. Maybe I'll start small.
