    Good morning all.

We are home now. It was an overnight crossing, Dieppe to Newhaven, so it was a very short night. We left the ferry at 5.30am.

We stopped at Sainsbury's in Thetford on the way and bought food and milk and picked up the desk fan I'd ordered from Argus. @Ladybird4 recommended it, she said it's silent and she can sleep with it on.

Our cottage hasn't been overheated, max 22.5C.

The garden needs deadheading, though Kev has done quite a bit and it could all do with watering. There is quite a lot in flower.

Think I'll just relax for the rest of the day.

That sounds an excellent plan, @Busy-Lizzie . Jobs can wait!

Your UK trip sounds lovely, @Obelix-Vendée ,but I'm not surprised you're feeling tired as a result, especially with the temperatures you're experiencing.

It's 17C today, with a bit of a breeze, but lovely in this neck of the woods. This is the view from the balcony of the cottage we moved to, yesterday. There's an occupied nest box on a nearby tree (you can see it in the photo), with a pair of pied flycatchers busily feeding young, which we can watch from the breakfast table. :)

£120 and a new detector later, we are deemed 'gas compliant'. It was a faulty carbon monoxide detector. I said it was the battery, but Mr Measure twice, cut Once said we couldn't take any chances and, of course, he was right. Thankfully, the boiler, appliances and combi passed with flying colours.
'Kids' coming for supper; smoked gammon in the slow cooker, boulangère potatoes, green beans, peas and parsley sauce. (Good job I proof read that, as I've left the p off parsley)
Hope it's my last physio tomorrow. Feel like my arm is pretty strong, but might get some light weights to tone it.
OH has been pretty much his normal self today.
        What a wonderful spec. @Liriodendron

Good afternoon all. So sorry you are still feeling rough @Goldenlily26. Its a nuisance when the stuff you take to make you better only ends up making you feel even worse but I have to agree too with @Ergates and @Penny_Forthem, that a visit and discussion with a pharmacist might prove useful. At least if you ask about stopping the new meds you might get some good advice. I'm glad that the CO alarn was a false one @Penny_Forthem and at least you have had all of the necessary checks done.
Hope the photo session at Patch Club went well @Obelix-Vendée. Will we be able to see the website when it has been designed?
          Welcome back to Norfolk @Busy-Lizzie.

                Good evening to you all!!

I'm sorry you are in such pain @Goldenlily26 I know just how you feel. So frustrating and depressing.
I hope your OH is feeling better @Penny_Forthem Sounds like a tiring but enjoyable trip @Obelix-Vendée I know just how the French can be so demanding for translating and herding etc. Good on you. Glad you have reached Norfolk safely @Busy-Lizzie

I have read back and "liked" everyone, I think. Lovely photos @Liriodendron

It s hot here. It is airless and humid. Fizz and I were out (me sleepily) at 6.45am this morning. Fizz can't believe her luck that I wake and go!! One English Setter and one Bulldog and the lady in Pussycat Lane feeding the strays. It was 23°C when we left and 40minutes later, 24°C. Fizz is 9 and black coated so I worry about her heart. She just loves it - we don't go fast - just a trot and even if I were walking - she would be ahead of me, beating the path. I stop for the "needs".

Weeding done and a trip to the tip at 8.30am over. Breakfast. The day is more or less a bit of faffing outside until 9.30am - a shower and then HW or whatever - more faffing. At 30°C by 10.30am it's just crazy to try to do anything. It is 8.40pm now and still 30°C - another hot night!

So - I bid you all a pleasant evening and a better good night!!

P.S. @Penny_Forthem - Slicker pads are the blocks of blue stuff you put into the freezer to keep goods cold in your chilly bin - ice box (for picnics etc). Probably a NZ term. I use one in bed to keep my neck or chest cool.

It's been a lovely day, a bit cooler than last week but with quite strong wind gusts which made gardening a bit problematic,. Despite the overnight rain the soil remained quite dusty in places so had to put my lightweight goggles on. I ended up in A&E twice last year with eye/dust problems so didn't want to chance a third trip!

Annoyingly, the house insurance company texted OH this morning and included an attachment which he can't open, having only an old style phone. He did tell them yesterday to text/phone me instead which they have totally ignored. I'll have to try contacting them tomorrow.

Hope both Busy-Lizzie and Obelix have had a lazy day.

                    Enjoy your quiz night @Ladybird4.

Good morning everyone. I expect you can guess what it is like here today. We had a fun time last night as we were playing our first team in the friendly quiz. They beat us but the night was really enjoyable and we have decided that we will do similar next week as both our teams have byes.
Found a lovely pressie from Cricket this morning but at least it was better than finding half a pressie!

Good morning everyone. Cloudy here at the mo but set to get to 35+ this pm. I ahve to go to Nantes for a consultation this pm and OH and I had planned to hang about and have dinner but may well change our minds about that as neither shopping nor sight seeing have any appeal in that heat.

Too hot to garden so I'll just check for watering needs (seep hoses) and carry on cataloguing seeds in the meantime. We might get a dribble tomorrow and Thursday but nothing meaningful and bone dry and hot for the following week.

Pleased to see Norman Foster and team's plans for the new Queen Elizabeth memorial gardens - ambitious and a fitting tribute with plenty of variety and interest for all.

                              Good morning all.

I slept well. I was exhausted after the long drive and the short night on the ferry.

I did a lot of watering yesterday. The butts were full so I don't think Kev did any, though the garden looks neat and the lawn is mown. Some plants were very droopy. Today we'll be deadheading. The clematis are looking lovely.

It has rained a tiny bit and yesterday I had to swap my summer dress for jeans, a long sleeved top and a cardigan. Jeans again today. It's a relief after the heat in France.

Dull and overcast here. We have had the lightest of showers. Home for the morning, at least. Don’t know whether to do some weeding while the ground is slightly damp, or a bit of housework. The trouble with the latter is that seemingly only a few hours since I’ve done any, it looks just like it did when I started! OH hasn’t finished putting the chain saw back together yet, and there are pieces in the garage, in the utility room, and a new carburettor on a worktop in the kitchen. Very tiresome. He is not the tidiest or best organised of people, but the first to complain. I find it hard to remonstrate, as my first reaction would generally involve a blunt instrument.
I’m not sure that I will do any growing from seed next year. The stuff I started earlier in the year hasn’t done very well, while the ready growing plants I bought have been romping away. Those that haven’t been eaten by slugs, that is. Masses of the things round here, and I haven’t seen a single frog or toad so far this year. I wonder if it is because of the dry weather we’ve had.
Hope all those suffering from the heat are coping ok. Hope @Goldenlily26 is feeling a bit better?
