    Afternoon all.

Cooler today but the sun is strong , so in the shade with a book now. I nipped to town to go to the pharmacy and bank and looked in a few charity shops. Bought a gorgeous linen top, a thin top with very short sleeves ideal for the garden (tropical plants print) and a short-sleeved dress which is a tad small so I’ll have to think if I would feel comfy wearing it or not.

My potted Strawflowers have wilted (I may have overlooked watering those yesterday) but seem to be perking up with a good drench.

    Have a lovely day everyone.

Thank goodness it's cooler today, though I find when it's been so hot it takes a couple of days for the house to cool down again. I used not to mind the heat but it's the nights in particular that are so difficult.
Our new dishwasher arrived this morning, something else new to learn. The old one was more than 20 years old, so it didn't owe us anything.

@Penny_Forthem, found a teapot! Remembered an old established home shop in the city centre which had the perfect 2 cup white china teapot, complete with it's own detachable filter 'thingy' for loose tea if you preferred. The lady on the counter even produced a bottle of water to demonstrate whether or not the spout dripped ! How's that for service with a smile.

Had coffee and cake in a town square in the shade but gave up in the heat after braving both M&S and Waitrose and drove home. I then had a shock when OH texted and said he was at Aylesbury and would be home by 6pm - I wasn't expecting him till Friday!

Good afternoon everyone. My sis, two friends and I enjoyed a very nice lunch and catch up today. I definitely had a senior moment whilst getting ready to drive off. I decided not to bother with a jacket but the minute I stepped out and felt the nip in the wind. I changed my mind and went back inside to pick one up. Then I had the usual 'where's the door key'? moment. I looked in all the usual places - no luck and just as I was about to get the duplicate key, I found it! Brace yourselves - I was holding it by its tab in my mouth! Oh how I laughed!
When I got home I checked my email for a response from the pelargonium company. I forgot to mention that I had waited in all day yesterday for this package and I found an email, late afternoon, from the courier company to say that my package had been left in a safe place and I could find it in my porch. I don't have a porch! I opened my front door and found the package on my drive next to my car! I mentioned this in my email of complaint. The email from the company acknowledged the weird 'porch' I now have, as the courier had taken a picture to send to them which was included in their response. The rep. agreed about the no substitutions and has asked me to wait until later in the week until she can find out what went wrong.
I have potted up the pelargoniums - its not their fault - and I don't want them dying unnecessarily. Sorry to be so long winded.

Like looking for one's glasses when wearing them, @Ladybird4! I wonder if it had been left in a neighbour's porch and the neighbour had left it by your car.

Thank goodness it's cooler! I've been cooking, chicken Basquaise and a pear, chocolate frangipane tart. I've made salmon and avocado cocktails in short glasses and another pud, strawberry mousse. Four friends are coming to dinner tonight.

It's been drizzling but not proper rain and now the sun is shining.

Evening all. I am shattered after a day at the sales with Possum and OH. She was looking for specific range of items of clothing and an iPad. He was looking for linen trousers and maybe a polo shirt or two. I just wanted to check out the fabric shop.

We began with coffee at Columbus - been in winter and they do the worst hot chocolate ever. Their capuccino is no better and a "medium" is almost a pint so it must be an American chain. Comes in a huge glass with a paper straw, presumably so you don't get frothed milk all over your face trying to drink it like a grown up! Never again for me.

Thence to several shops where she'd try on over a dozen items and come out with 2 that fitted and suited her. Himself did an Obxx and found linen trousers not in the sale (of course) and black, when he wanted light colours, but we bought them anyway as smart and lightweight for dancing.

Needed lunch after all that so off to the 3 Brasseurs which brews all its beers on site and does salads, burgers, flammekeuche and poutine. They both had poutine. I did not. Thence to the fabric store where I found some pure wool and lining for Possum's new coat at half price, linens for 2 pairs of trousers for OH and Possum found warm fleecy stuff to make winter pyjamas. I was so busy with those and zips and things I didn't look for anything for myself. World first.

Back to the shopping centre for sandals, more clothes and the iPad by which time we were all done in. OH has made us a cuppa and turned on the grunters so I shall drink mine and go and check my treasures and the chooks.

I hope you get your plants sorted out @Ladybird4. Frustrating when that happens.

Nice surprise to have him home early @lizzie27. I shall be a golf widow all weekend - practice session on Friday then two matches on Sat and Sun but he's home for dinner each day.

It's set to be hot and dry except for a 1mm dribble on Sunday and nothing the following week so I don't think I'll get any more planting done for a while. All 6 water buttes are empty too.

Stay cool everyone and hydrate yourselves if it's hot your way.

That didn't happen @Busy-Lizzie because courier took the picture of the package on my drive next to the car as proof of delivery and the pelargonium company attached it to their email response to me. None of the 6 houses in my Crescent have porches.
Gpodness me @Obelix-Vendée, that is not the best thing to be doing on a steamy day - unless the shops have air con. Glad you survived! :)

It’s a bit cooler this evening, so the duvet is back on for tonight. No centre court late night tennis on so I’ll catch up on a few gardening progs instead.

You’ve all sound busy. I hope everyone is ok.

I hope tomorrow goes ok @Ladybird4.

A very good morning one and all. Very windy here this morning judging by the trees thrashing about outside. Still the sun is shining so all augurs well for the day ahead. Just finished watering and am enjoying my breakfast. Cricket has had his and has retired upstairs for a 10 hour nap.

Morning @Ladybird4 and everyone to follow.

I’m just waiting outside the SM until it opens at 7, as need to buy a leaving card for a team mate. People waiting outside with trolleys ready. I might grab some croissants for the work gang - be rude not to buy some snacks whilst there.

                            Take care all.

Am a little bruised and sore this morning. We had an ottoman under our bedroom window which I would often kneel or sit on to look into the garden. On Tuesday I reorganised the bedroom and the ottoman is no longer there. Late last night, there was an absolute racket going on in the garden. I hopped out of bed half asleep, to see what the foxes were up to, and onto the ottoman to have a good look. But, of course, it isn't there any more! I ended up on the floor with a bashed elbow, jarred shoulder and bruised knees. Needless to say the racket I made bouncing onto an invisible ottoman scared off the foxes :heehee::thud: Luckily there’s no real damage done

Quiet day planned today. We will probably have a canal walk and possibly lunch out unless @Busy-Lizzie has any leftovers she would like to send over?

I hope you sort out your pelargonium puzzle @Ladybird4 and get the ones you want, then you can enjoy these ones as a bonus.

Glad to hear you’re feeling a little bit better @Goldenlily26

Don’t think I have ever had smacked cucumber, sounds like a way to combine surplus cucumbers with anger therapy!

Hope everyone else has a good day with dishwashers, teapot hunts, friends, family and gardens x
