@Obelix-Vendée yes please, I would love a Teasing Georgia Rose, so kind of you to offer. Thank you. Are you sure you you can spare it? Not yet though as we will be in England. We will be in France in January.

I have ordered Rambling Rosie for my rose arch and I bought and planted The Albrighton Rambler for the other side so I don't have a space for Malvern Hills anymore.

OK @Busy-Lizzie. I'll save a TG for you and post it in Jan/feb according to your preference. It's mum is a cutting of one I had in Belgium and flowers very well.

Some serious garden work getting done, I'm very impressed! I’ve had a second day in pain from my ribs after last weeks wielding of the long pruner. Annoying that it was relatively ok for days, but now really annoying. I’m ok walking, and sitting if I get the right position, but bending or picking anything up is very uncomfortable. We went to the seaside this morning, and had coffee and pastries and a very pleasant walk. Got to pet several friendly dogs! So many French bulldogs around, sadly quite a few of them rather overweight. I do feel sorry for those dogs with no tail, with no reference to tell you if they are happy or friendly, I'm sure they must miss out on pats and cuddles.
Did a bit of laundry this afternoon, but it’s that horrid time of the year when the car insurance is due. Our renewal quote was over half as much again as last year, so I really can’t get out of shopping around. Have had two quotes emailed to me, which I’ll have to go through to compare. Luckily I have over two weeks to organise them, so I can pace myself. I do find it all very stressful. OH is no help, finds the overall totals mind boggling, and starts harking back to what he used to pay in the good old days!
Poor @Goldenlily26, hope your aches and pains ease up quickly.
Thanks for the suggestions on how to deal with my wall trough plants. Will be good to preserve some for next year.

            Look after yourselves
@Goldenlily26 and @Ergates, we don't bounce any more.
We have a V.I.P. guest at the caravan tomorrow. She may be known to a few here.
She told me not to hoover on her behalf, but I do have standards, y'know. Low, I accept, but in an old caravan with 3 smelly dogs, achievable!

Woohoo, @Penny_Forthem! Enjoy your VIP visit, and ask her to give the dogs a hug from me!
Love the sound of all the roses which will be gracing gardens next year. I’ve never done well with them. We don’t see many round here, I don’t know whether it’s the (acid) soil, or that the nature of the village lends itself more to parkland and woodland, and fewer formal type gardens.

I don't do formal @Ergates but do like mixing roses in with other plants.

Evening everybody, we're back home after a couple of very enjoyable days away. Many thanks for all the anniversary good wishes. Much to our amazement, the weather played ball as well, much the same as on our original wedding day. Cold at night though.

I've had a quick read through and you all seem to have been busy, some of you have also been buying roses! I might be doing the same later this autumn as I'm seriously thinking of removing the wisteria I had to butcher due to our recent building works and replace it with several roses instead. I think they'll be less maintenance and at least I'll be able to reach them!

Hope you're recovering from your nasty fall @Goldenlily26 and you too, @floralies, shoulders can be so tricky.

Looking forward to a good gardening day tomorrow.

Good evening all. Thanks for listing all your roses @Busy-Lizzie. I will be looking them up when I have a minute.
My brothers and I used to do exactly the same thing @Liriodendron!
I am signing out for this evening - I have a lovely visit to make tomorrow and hugging dogs for @Ergates is on my 'to do' list.

Good morning everyone. Its a bit too dark yet to weigh up what the weather looks like but if it is another day like yesterday it will be perfect. Whatever you have planned for today I hope all your tasks prove to be easily done. I will be thinking about you @Busy-Lizzie, digging your new bed for the roses. Just take care with your back.

                          Good morning to you all!

I haven't been posting much in the last few days so I hope you will forgive me. Not run off my feet, but getting bits and pieces done.

Belated wishes to you having anniversaries and birthdays!

Some nice recipes have been going back and forth - I made a tomato crumble yesterday, which was "different". I shall try Korean spicy aubergine this week.

I can't plan too much flower garden wise yet as I need to do a driveway. Drainage and paving. Then we'll see. Haven't even got a quote yet.

First of all last week after a trip to a couple of supermarkets, I returned home and decided to reverse into the garage. First heave bag in and when I returned for the second, I saw that someone had damaged the front of my car without leaving a note! As I rarely approach my car from the front (going into a parking spot nose first), I didn't see which SM the damage was done. Anyway, I am not insured for this.

Then I tripped on the last step - gong up - with a full watering can! So today, I have a nice blackened knee. Yes. I put a frozen pad on straightaway. The water luckily was all over the terrace, so no problem to swish away. So commiserations to @floralies @lizzie27 and @Goldenlily26 for their unexpected trips!

On Friday, I went to pick up my new glasses. Tried them on - looked around - up and down and told the optician that there was a spot on the lens. He cleaned them. There it was again!! He couldn't see anything but it turned out there is a stamp on the lens that could have been too hard and my eye was picking it up. So new glass has been re ordered. As I haven't had new specs for 4 years, I splashed out, but now am regretting my decision. My private insurance doesn't reimburse much on glasses - so now with the car, glasses and council taxes due - life is a lark at the moment!!

Would you believe that we still have the odd mozzie drifting around? Despite the cool nights. Days are pleasant with sun and 21°C but windy. Nights have dropped drastically. Heating hasn't gone on yet.

Oh my! So many trips, falls and tumbles. I hope everyone is OK now and recovering. I am stiff and sore all over, which makes doing anything very slow.
I pottered, the washing dried beautifully and I made a fish pie for dinner.
Taking your advice, I phoned Damart to tell them I had not received my parcel. They sounded very concerned and are looking into it as well as Evri. They are re-ordering the items for me.
My son had a bad start to their trip to Somerset. They had a car booked first thing to drive there, but received an email just before they were due to leave to collect it, saying there was no car available for them. After phoning around, they found one to hire but my son in law had to drive them to Newquay Airport to collect it, by which time it was almost mid-day. They had hoped to do some sight seeing and a walk in Glastonbury on their way to Chard but I doubt if that happened.
It is another lovely autumn day, still, sunny, chilly and dry.
I have to do a shop today, I am also going to try and get a Drs. Ap. to discuss my loss of voice, 10 weeks now since it disappeared. They may have the results of my MRI scan as well.

Enjoy the Indian Summer, make the most of it while it lasts.

Good morning. Sunny so far with cloudy bits around and 16C expected. No rain in sight.

Rose bed games for me today. No doubt some quarrying when I start to dig the holes as some of the pots are 60cms/2' or more across and deep.

CH service today and it looks like we have a problem with one of the expansion tanks or a leak. Not sure which is worse. Add to that th eneed to re-jig bits our septic tank system and we could be in for an expensive month too @Tui34. Sorry to read about your car damage and fall and hope it all heals well. Ditto @floralies and @Goldenlily26 and anyone else with bumps and scrapes and damage.

Happy dog hugging @Ladybird4 and a pleasant/productive/restful day to all as needed.

                                Good morning all.

Oh dear @Tui34 you seem to be having a run of bad luck. I hope things start going better for you now.

Two English builders came at 8am to investigate the upstairs loo drainage pipe which hasn't been working properly for the last year or so. They dug down to it and found that previous owner, Patrick, had made a removable window in the pipe. He had told me he did that to make it easier to have access to the pipe in the future. His window had been pushed off by the Leylandii hedge roots which had then grown to a thick bundle of fibrous roots nearly a metre long inside the pipe! Anyway it's all sorted now and the loo works.
It's so hard to find someone here who is willing to dig to find out what it going on. I had several French men for the downstairs loo when it blocked up a couple of years ago, all they did was unblock it without investigating the reason - which was that the pipe had separated at a bend. I have been waiting since May for this builder.

I was going to carry on digging my new bed but rain is forecast. It wasn't yesterday. It's quite chilly this morning.
