      Good morning to you all!

What lovely photos from everyone. Autumn is probably the best season as the plants prepare for winter.

The hunting season is open and Fizz seems to have developed a "gun-shy" attitude at the ripe old age of 9 and a half! Although the hunters are far enough away from the house, the sound carries.

Busy time for the garden - pulling out the last of the summer vegetable plants and giving the soil a turnover. I will get some horse manure shortly.

Hoping that everyone with twinges and aches are feeling a little brighter today!

I wish you all an enjoyable Sunday.

We have your fog @Ladybird4. Plenty of it.
I fear our lunch at the Crown may be in jeopardy. I have to drive over the moors, bleak at the best of times.
That photo should be in the competition @Liriodendron

Congratulations on raising so much money Ladybird4. You must all feel very pleased with yourselves. It makes your efforts all worth while.

I managed to sort, wash and juice most of the apples, after taking some out for eating. It was a hard slog, done at intervals, to give myself and the juicer machine a rest. I have a gallon of pure apple juice to make into cider, a jug full in the fridge to drink and I made a Gache Melee, a traditional Guernsey recipe, patois for apple cake. Because the apples are eaters I find it too sweet, but I will cope. It is a pity I do not have any Guernsey Cream to go with it. I will give my SinL some "to help me use it up". He is always a willing helper.
I am very stiff and tired this morning so nothing going on, just going to club for a game and a cup of tea later. I have to stop at the Co-op on the way to top up my cash to pay the taxi driver. Fortunately, I checked with the booking clerk as some drivers will now accept payment by card. I do not carry much cash on me now.

I have a face to face ap. in 3 weeks time with the cardiac nurse so I will see how I get on and talk to her direct. Pharmacists can advise but their brief is limited.

I was awake at 2.00am and didn't really go back to sleep so I am going to try and get a nap in before going to club. One of the perks of being retired.
          Have a good day everyone.

Hello all, it's a bit chilly and misty out there so far so not enticing me out at the moment, I'm waiting for the promised sunshine. My back feels better, thanks, but must remember not to lift anything heavy.

A stunning photo @Liriodendron. Good luck with the house jobs and enjoy your church service and walks.

Sounds a lot of effort @Goldenlily26 but the end result cider should be worth it. Enjoy your club visit and game.

That's a shame if lunch has to be called off but I never like driving in fog either @Penny_Forthem.

Good luck with the trouser making @Obelix-Vendée.

I had a lovely phone conversation with my son earlier. He's back from his trip to Istanbul and had a good time apart from a slight mishap on the return journey. Turned up at the airport (where they had landed) in good time, no flight shown on the screen, oops, turned out they were at the wrong airport. Their return flight with BA was due to depart from Istanbul's 2nd airport!! Que panic, they had just an hour to get across the city, but fortunately their taxi made it with 5 mins to spare before boarding. Phew.

He and his son are now doing the rounds of the selected universities but he tells me the cost of a hall room for one year is an average of £10,000 now and that's without food. Crikey. I have been saving towards the expenses but better redouble my efforts. Good job I don't seem to spend much on the garden these days.

            Have a good day everyone.

That seems an extortionate amount of money given the average size of university halls rooms @lizzie27. Mind you I have no idea what ordinary shared accommodation costs these days. The kind Possum had in Namur - room in shared house with shared kitchen and bathroom - are currently about 400€ a month including charges plus food.

Not a lot of autumn colour here yet @Tui34 and I still have a couple of tomatoes in the ground as it's so warm still in the pms. They'll be coming up this week tho as I want to clear the beds and start broad beans and onions.

              Fab photo @Liriodendron. Thank you.

Trousers are finished - chocolate brown linen - so now I'm making a cardamom scented pear frangipane tart for tomorrow's workshop as it's all day and we share apéro and desserts at lunchtime. Once that's done I shall go out in the sunshine and pot up my treasures from Friday so they can grow on a bit before going out as I still need to clear weeds before planting.

OH will be home for dinner so I need to tidy up the kitchen too and get a roast in later.

              Have a lovely afternoon all.

                Hello all.

Good heavens, @lizzie27 - that was tight. Relief that your son made it in time.

When we got back on Thursday and we went to the supermarket I bought 5 days supply of food, forgetting that we were going to our friend's birthday party and Harvest Festival lunch today. We are off to Corfu on Tuesday.

The party was fun. It had a Bollywood theme and lots of people were dressed in saris or tunics and trousers. We went as Colonial English as we didn't have anything Indian. We were given wreaths of artificial flowers to wear and there were balloons shaped like elephants and Indian music was playing. Dinner was, of course, curry of different sorts. Our friend had a big family. We sat for dinner with some of them. It was in the village hall as there were about 80 guests.

Today was Harvest Festival at church, followed by a bring and share Harvest lunch in the village hall. We sat next to our best Norfolk friends and had a good catch-up. Now feeling rather full and sleepy. Late to bed and early to rise!

                  Evening folks.

We had a bit of sun later afternoon after a cloudy morning. Humid air though so washing not quite dry but will finish off in airing cupboard ok. Just doing chicken dinner. My taste and smell hasn’t fully returned yet but my appetite has!

Sounds like people have had good weekends doing this and that. Here’s to a good week ahead. I’m only in work tomorrow then a few days off (Birthday week. Not that I’m doing anything much but it seems rude to be in work!).

Good evening everyone. Tea/Coffee morning went well and we raised nearly £90 for the funds. Spent far too long chatting after the event was finished and the mist was rolling in a bit which I wasn't expecting so I was glad to be pushing off at last. I am another one who doesn't like driving in fog @Penny_Forthem and @lizzie27. Well done on the trouser sewing @Obelix-Vendée and thank you for your description of what sounds like it was a fabulous celebration @Busy-Lizzie.
That cost of halls of residence is eyewatering @lizzie27
Thank you for sharing that stupendous picture with us @Liriodendron - glorious!

A very good morning one and all. I am planning on getting some bulbs planted today and my Californian poppy seeds arrived the other day so I will be hoping to get them sown too. According to GW these plants do not like their roots being disturbed so it is best to sow in situ - saves me unnecessary work so I'm pleased on that score. They enclosed a free pack of tagetes too. Bargain! Tonight is finals night for the quiz season and there is a celebration with a free buffet. I have been to two of these in the past and it is always sumptuous. My quiz partner texted me last night asking if I fancied going - errrr yes! I only spotted the text this morning as I was asleep when he sent it so I'll reply shortly. Saves me having to think about food preparation.

                          Good morning to you all!

Beautiful autumnal morning today - back to putting out some seed for the birds. They don't take long to cotton on, do they?

What sort of onions are you planting? @Obelix-Vendée Seeds or plugs?
Such a busy social life @Busy-Lizzie !! Good time to go to Corfu - Yasu!!
My niece and nephew had the same problem @lizzie27 for their son (my great-nephew) at the University of Madrid. Extortionate prices!! But they found a house in the suburbs that was let out to students at a much more reasonable cost. Bedroom each - kitchen etc shared. There were 4 students. They even had a pool!

A trip to the tip today and a visit to my young S. African friend this morning who has had the tendon snip in her "tennis" elbow. Her MIL has flown over to look after the heavy stuff - cooking etc. but I must say her husband - a 100kg of muscle is a very big help around the house. He does the vacuuming and washing! I often take the little one (5) for a walk with me as she likes to hold Fizz's leash - it's all about control when you are 5!!

I wish you all a pleasant start to the week.

Oh Tui, when you are 5, holding the dog's lead is a very important job!

My day did not turn out as expected.
When I arrived at club I was surprised at how many cars were already parked, as it was a glorious afternoon, sunny, even hot, and dry, I assumed it was a good turnout. I had forgotten it was the day of the Singles Final Match. We were treated to 3 excellent games, closely fought, all lasting around 45 mins. The competitors must have been exhausted. Then the presentation of the trophies and a diploma awarded to one of our lady members, by Croquet England for servised to croquet. For the last few years she has held the club together, single-handed, turning her hand to everything from white lining, mowing, weed killing, admin, negotiating the purchase of the club etc. etc. etc. all whilst nursing a very painful knee. Superhuman.
Followed by tea. I have never seen so much food left over, the cupboard was stuffed with cakes to be eaten up, eventually the birds are going to do well I think. Although I only sat and watched I was very tired when I came home, so have to face a lot of clearing up over the next few days.
Today my daughter is coming to help me give the conservatory a clean before my visitors arrive, So many dead flies and HUGE spiders. I think our efforts will deserve lunch out somewhere.
                              Have a good day folks.

                                Good morning all.

Today we will be packing for Corfu. Flying from Stanstead tomorrow. The Corfu weather forecast is showing some rain this week, but we won't be lying on a beach anyway. We'll go exploring and take buses and, hopefully, a boat trip.
