Have a good trip @Busy-Lizzie and enjoy Corfu.

Sounds as if you were lucky to even find a parking space @Goldenlily26. I find these days that social occasions tend to make me feel fatigued as well so I'm not surprised you felt tired when you got home. Too many cakes sounded sounded good however.

It's been slightly warmer but overcast most of the day. After our usual walk I pruned the NDN 's overhanging hedge bits including the buddelia seed heads as these tend to get blown over onto our gravel parking area and then root themselves which is a pain.

Trust Fizz knew he was in charge of a little one @Tui34, I'm sure he was a model of good behaviour, must have been a lovely sight. Hope your young friend recovers quickly from her op.

      Thank you, @lizzie27.

I've just heard from Dovefromabove that Graham Robeson, one of the two gardening owners of The Old Vicarage at East Ruston died on the 3rd October. It's a fabulous garden, we've visited it a few times and met both the owners. I have a photo of us with Alan. Poor Alan, he must be feeling bereft.

It started off as a beautiful day, but now overcast. Stayed warm enough for a good dog run on the field. Bryn now has a sports injury.
And after 8 weeks, we have finally agreed on an alternative name for Gin.
Henceforth, he will be Rufus, except when we forget, then he's Gin!
But I think he suits it

Sorry to read your sad news @Busy-Lizzie. I don't know of those two men.
@Penny_Forthem he really does suit Rufus. I wonder how long it will take him to recognise his name. I just love that facial expression - almost hear him thinking 'Oh no! She's pointing that thing at me again. As soon as she puts it down, and isn't looking, I am going to kill it!'

Having thought long and hard about going to the Quiz presentation night tonight, I spoke with my partner's wife and asked her if he really wanted to go (in which case I would have gone to keep him company) and I was delighted when she said that he wasn't that keen on going but would have taken me had I wanted to go!. Needless to say, we were both very happy in giving it a miss. I was looking forward to my useful feast of TV quizzes but have just discovered some football is on and no quizzes - rats and double rats! Aah well I have a book that needs finishing so I will have a early night. My bulbs arrived this afternoon so I know what I will be doing tomorrow. I am signing out for this evening. Safe journey to Corfu tomorrow @Busy-Lizzie. I hope that there is not too much rain and that you enjoy your exploring.

Good morning all. Definitely a gardening day for me today - bulbs to plant and more seeds to sew. A dry day (so far anyhow!) is forecast. Any spare time I have I will be crafting for the C*******s Fair. Whatever you have planned for today - and we know @Busy-Lizzie's plans - may everything go smoothly.
p.s. I meant to say that I couldn't agree more with your statement @lizzie27
I was worn out after our Quiz night and Sunday's tea/coffee morning.

                  Good morning to you all!

Overcast and rather dismal - hopefully the sun will make an appearance later.

@lizzie27 Fizz is a girl and very obedient . She is sporting a pink bow on her collar this month for Pink October. I usually do the bike run first, before I let the wee one take her on the leash so that some of the energy has been used up....Not quite the case, but Fizz is good on the leash and doesn't strain. I am not far behind in case there is a cat in the vicinity! She is let off the leash when we get to fields, but it is still "an important job" (@Goldenlily26 ) to hold the leash and throw a stick!

Bon voyage for today @Busy-Lizzie and Cedric. Happy landing.

Rufus is good @Penny_Forthem Good idea to wait a while before renaming - his personality is now showing!!

A girlfriend is coming with me on the bike run this morning. We'll do a bit longer and then come back for a coffee and a natter.

My young neighbour (the little one's mum) who has just had the snipped tendon, is in quite a lot of pain. Apparently, the painkillers contain caffeine, so sleep doesn't come easily. The first 10 days/2 weeks after an op, is really not pleasant - as all hip replacement patients will confirm!!

Better get cracking. Have an enjoyable day.

Good morning from Stansted airport. I'm glad we left early, the traffic was very heavy and there was an accident near Newmarket.

My daughter came and spent a very brisk hour and a half sweeping, mopping and drying the floor of my conservatory. Even if the corners haven't been reached, it looks so much better. I took her for a snack lunch in the local Water Gardens as they now stay open all week. I put the two throws from the chairs, through the washing machine and they were dry enough to go in the airing cupboard when I came home. I tried to help take unwanted 'things' out to the shed.
It is my ENT apt. this afternoon, I am not looking forward to it one bit.
My second demi john of cider has begun fermenting and is crawling out of the top of the bottle. The foam looks like an alien, poking its head out of the neck. It was interesting watching a TV program about the difference between making commercial and 'artisan' cider. I hadn't realised cider should be matured for at least six months for the best flavour. As my apples are both eaters they are really too sweet to use for cider but it seems better than binning them. There has been a massive crop down here so it is almost impossible to give them away.
My neighbour told me she has got rid of seven cockerels this year, no wonder it was noisy first thing in the morning! A ll trying to out crow each other. The fox/badger had two and the rest went to her Dad's wood. The remaining two are now crowing even louder without any competition.
My grandson has a new dachshund puppy, which my son and DinL are getting to know. They are on Vancouver Island together for a few days before my son goes on his trip to New Zealand. The puppy is called Baguette for some reason?! My grandson and partner competed in a half marathon at the weekend so my son took the puppy along, she was very spoiled, had a lot of attention, skipped her naps, too much excitement going on. When they went home everyone collapsed and had a nap, Baguette included. It has made my son realise he would not want to take on a puppy if they ever had another dog. They are puppy sitting before going home, to give the new parents a date night out together.
Sounds familiar, grandparents go home to recover and enjoy some peace and quiet!
                      Have a lovely day everyone.

                        Morning all.
Baguette is such an appropriate name for a daxi!
                        Safe journey @Busy-Lizzie
                        We're going home later
Will drain the van first though, as Jack Frost can appear early here.
Have promised to buy a bag of spring bulbs for our site and Sonia and Sarah will plant them. Win win.

Another itch, wakeful night for me but no new bites so far. Patch club was good but exhausting as I had to be up and out at 8:30 for an emergency committee meeting to decide what to do with the woman who's gone off her trolley - cancel her membership and refund her subscription - 38€ - tho we have no legal requirement to do so. The 4 committee members who hadn't seen her mails to me were horrified when they read them. Really don't need this sort of thing.

Everyone else happy as Larry and enjoying the all day workshop and a some great appetisers, drinks and desserts people brought to share. Fortunately not a thin day.

Agree with @Tui34 that and @Penny_Forthem; Baguette is a great name for a long, slim sausage dog. Fizz sounds like a great dog and Rufus has landed on his paws.

Safe journey @Busy-Lizzie and good luck if they're already doing the new border controls.

It's sunny here now so, like @Ladybird4, I shall be playing outside this pm and potting on my grass and herb seedlings. Nothing too strenuous as we have dance class this evening.

                          Have a lovely afternoon everyone.

No border controls yet in Corfu, @Obelix-Vendée. We are now in Corfu, arrived this afternoon. Had an excellent meal, serve yourself from a big selection of cold or hot dishes.

Weird, was dark, and had been for well over an hour, at 9.05pm here but it was only 7.05pm in England, 2 hours behind. We are knackered and in bed! Only 9.35 now, 7.35 in UK.

That looks stunning @Busy-Lizzie, I'm deeply envious!

We've had a good day, overcast but with no wind and just about warm enough to do outside stuff. I've found a spot for a rose cutting, think it's most probably from the old HT Queen Elizabeth one. The soil was much better than elsewhere but I've added a mix of manure/compost to it before I plant the rose later on. At the moment it's just got it's beautiful pale pink rose on it.

Otherwise I've been doing some online research into a painting I inherited - quite interesting.

I was so relieved that the Israeli hostages have finally been released and do hope the peace holds in Gaza. Loved Trump's comment - gotta get Ukraine done next! Let's hope that becomes a reality in the near future too.

Not surprised you've got to get rid of the awkward committee member, must have been a complete nightmare @Obelix-Vendée. Let's hope she goes quietly. Enjoy your dance class.

Dentist for a checkup for me tomorrow.
