We had a lovely afternoon with the dogs in the hills in sunshine.
We have a date for my cousin's funeral: the 19th Nov. Hub will need a new shirt and tie.
We are going to watch the festival of remembrance, as it's very poignant for us both.

Good morning everyone. Last night was the noisiest one for fireworks this season. Oddly enough I have not actually seen one. Cricket was safely indoors and upstairs on the bed through it all. We will be observing the two minutes silence today at the tea/coffee morning. I hope that you all enjoy a good Sunday.

          Good morning to you all!!

Tuesday, the 11th is Remembrance Day here - Armistice. The way the world is turning these days, it seems all that suffering was in vain. Still, we live in hope for the next generation.

No fireworks here, just shots of the hunters that don't seem to respect the 300m limit. Anyway, it's too cold to go out yet. Tramontane blowing. Fizz has gone back to bed. We'll go later in the morning. I have decided to properly change from summer clothes to winter clothes in the wardrobe. It doesn't really take long - just some organisation. Everything is spread out on the bed in the spare room and I have been taking what I need from day to day!

Rugby day yesterday - the Blacks and the Boks won their respective matches. Time the French pulled their socks up and didn't make so many mistakes.

We went to the beach with Fizz yesterday to look for driftwood after the storm. Apart from huge trees and stumps, there wasn't much. Fizz loves the beach - skidding around and doing wheelies in the sand!

It seems that a lot of you have been enjoying some lovely meals lately. I made a lemon and cucumber cake with gin icing yesterday - wasn't much chop to be honest. Zucchini and apricot is nicer.

Sunny today, so I'll make the most of the solar production and do some washing. The rest of the week is forecast for wind and clouds.

I wish you all a pleasant Sunday. Here is a picture of Fizz wishing you all the same!!

Morning @Ladybird4 and anybody else looking in.

It's been a weekend of sport here, OH watched the F1 on tv late and my son and his mate went to watch the Scotland/New Zealand game, then another one on TV in a pub and staggered home later. He's still fast asleep so we're creeping round the house on tiptoe. OH has just gone to fetch the paper whilst I'm noodling on here.
I've decided to plant the roses today as the forecast is possibly frost by the middle of the month so I'll do that as soon as I've finished my coffee.

It's a very calm, mild, sunny day here after a misty start. OH spent some time yesterday taming our mixed hedge between the front bed and the first rose beds and has been out there this morning chopping up the huge stems - 2 to 3m of ash and hawthorn and brambles plus less vigorous stuff - till I took him away to dig out stones from the new rose bed.

I've then been following with bulbs and some plants. More to do this pm once our light lunch settles and until sunset. Lots to get done as I'm busy Monday and Tuesday and then have only 2 days before the wet stuff arrives in earnest - if the forecast doesn't change.

I liked my Oz recipe for courgette and apricot cake @Tui34 and so did my ladies who were brave enough to try. One new one asked if I had the recipe for carrot cake so I sent her 5 I had already translated into French. There are more.

I hope your gluten free chocolate cake was a success @Ladybird4

I haven't seen OH watching any of the rugby yet @lizzie27 and have no idea when England will be playing nor how the French have got on.

                Hello all.

It's been a lovely sunny day.

We went to the Remembrance Service in church then at the village memorial green in our old village. We go there as there aren't many services in the village where we live, but we will go to the one by the memorial in our village on Tuesday. The church was packed. There were Cubs, Brownies, Scouts etc and flags.

I had a long chat with Son 1 this afternoon. He recently had a knee replacement and is home now with crutches.

I meant to do some gardening but I just can't get motivated.

It has been a very wet day here all day but the tea/coffee morning went well. We had the two minutes silence to remember the fallen. Always touching. I was too tired to do any crafting when I got home after lunch so I think an early night is in order. Pleased to read that you had got in touch with your son @Busy-Lizzie. I am signing out now so enjoy your evenings.

Rain stopped play this pm But I did get loads of bulbs and some perennials in the rose bed. Since then I've made some seedy crackers and a smoked mackerel pâté to take to patch tomorrow cos it's an all day affair and we share apéro and desserts. I've also cooked roast belly pork with roast parsnips, steamed broccoli and gravy made from the onions, sage and cider under the pork plus an apple crumble. Needed a good hot shower and hairwash after all that.

Just waiting for OH to appear so we can watch SCD results.

I hope the knee op has gone well and he's making good progress @Busy-Lizzie

Good morning everyone. Friend and I are going to attempt the trip to Costco today having been thwarted last week and it is the first quiz of the new season tonight. I haven't heard from team captain yet but he always leaves notification to the eleventh hour.
Meant to say last night @Obelix-Vendée that the gluten free chocolate cake has become a favourite - along with the parkin and tea loaf - with the tea/coffee morning friends. Your meal sounds delicious!

Oh my goodness. We might have to re-think our Costco trip again as I have heard on the news that there has been yet another accident on the M6 in the same stretch as last Monday! I hope that no-one has been badly injured.

Good Monday morning to you all!!

Overcast forecast for today but the radio tells me that there will be sun. Yesterday was beautiful, so I made the most of my solar production and did a couple of loads of washing and made a pot of braised mince - Fizz gets the extra gravy on her dried food.

I would be interested please, @Obelix-Vendée what you ask your butcher for - as I imagine you don't get the belly of pork at the SM here. The cut doesn't exist.

Walkies with Fizz's "coach" this morning - when the sun comes out. Will finish off the summer clothes bags and take out the air ready for storage.

Nothing exciting on the cards for this Monday day!

PS Carrefour is running a spesh on pork this week and they have Poitrine de porc avec os. I may have a look except that they are whole bellies but at 3.39euros/kg - someone in the freezer may have to move over!!!

We went to Bury St Edmunds today to look for a jacket for Cedric for the party on Saturday as he left his suit and his jacket in France. Only has a dinner jacket here.

M&S was useless. That branch, although quite big, no longer sells formal jackets, blazers or suits. They also don't sell ladies' slim flare high rise Per Una jeans anymore. Mid rise jeans fall down when I walk and I hate skinny jeans as I'm not tall and slender. Most of the dresses and party clothes were ugly or best suited for the young.

We went to Next and they had exactly what Cedric wanted. Phew!

Then we went to Waitrose and bought a few treats.

Where are you all? Raining here so it wasn't a gardening day.

I'm here! Just logged on. Glad you found what Cedric needed in Next. I looked in M & S back in September for OH but they didn't have any suitable jackets either. I wanted something like a pure wool, small checked sports jacket - nil. Didn't think to go to Next so thanks for the heads up. I buy my jeans from Cotton Traders as they do a short leg size of 27" which not many other stockists do. I prefer the pull on type with elasticated back waist as ordinary ones usually gape at the back.

I've had a quiet day, OH left early this morning so I had a lie in, it rained nearly all day so not a lot to get up for - no gardening! Dried up just a bit about midday so got my usual walk in to fetch the paper.
There were more roadworks in the high street with 3 way traffic lights so I was glad I didn't give in and drive down. Treated myself to a Xmas present - a large box of Black Magic chocs, going back to old favourites.
Much to my amazement I've been able to book two Xmas food deliveries so feeling quite virtuous.

Hope you enjoyed your walk with Fizz and your little companion @Tui34.
