@Badly_Maintained It was super to log on this afternoon and to see your message. So good to see you back and I hope time will be kinder to you from now on. I LOVE the glorious explosion of colours that are your summer flowers and personally I prefer that kind of display to the sculpted ones my council grow every year. I really like them too - don't wish to upset the council - but truly love just seeing flowers getting on with their own 'thing'.
Setting up in the Church Hall this morning was as I expected. Busy, busy, busy! At least it should be ready now for the Fair tomorrow. I've had to pass on the Christmas market as it is rainy - drismal in fact - so I think I will just crack on with getting some cards written.

If some recall that wedding we went to this past Aug. 31, all the way to California, that is flying across all of USA from where we live. And staying at the below average place, horrid.
So we gave the couple a nice check of $500.00 . Etiquette wise, its 3 months limit for a Thank you note from them. Well guess what, NO Thank you note. It is his family. I just have to chalk it up to rude people. And my first name was spelled wrong on the dinner place card, don't you love it. SMH

What a lovely surprise @Badly_Maintained. Hope you'll be bringing lots of Irish charm and beautiful photos.
@redstar what abysmal manners they have. Family or not, manners maketh man.
Well, we can put it off no longer... OH mentioned our customary Christmas fondue, which he looks forward to (think he enjoys the fire lighting bit!) and, cue the panic... where is is? In the gory glory hole that is under the stairs! We must be ruthless, RUTHLESS, we decide, as old treasures are found, examined and, yes, make their way onto the pile for the tip. But wait, we might use it again... (when pigs fly!).
And so, we make our way towards the fondue set, boxed and waiting for inspection, looking like something from Miss Haversham's house, encased in cobwebs (slight exaggeration here). Phew, all present and correct, apart from a good wash!
And tomorrow? A trip to the tip with bits of old hoover, old dog beds and, quite frankly, junk!

We don't decorate much for Christmas anymore. Or shall I say, "I" don't decorate much for Christmas anymore. Will hang the star in the living room window, that is easy. Dress up the fireplace mantel a little, whatever is easy to undress in January. Not sure what I am "special" baking, still thinking on it. Or "special" making for Christmas day, again thinking on it. There are a few places I can go to get ready made stuff to make life easy, so considering that. Anyway, here is the window star.

@redstar what dreadful manners! No wonder you sound upset. That was a generous present. I like your star.

@Penny_Forthem I wouldn't be surprised if several of us have glory holes under the stairs, or elsewhere, like yours. I certainly do!

We went to the Christmas Fair and met 3 people we know. I bought some raffle tickets, but not expecting anything.

How disgustingly rude of those people @redstar. I would have expected a virtually instantaneous 'thank you' after such a lovely gift and the special efforts you made to get to the wedding. I would not be bothering with them any more - they don't deserve it.
Ssshhhh @Busy-Lizzie I have several glory holes - its no wonder I can never find anything!
