I'd just like to say thank you for posting that photo of the brooch @Ergates.
Like @Songbird , I immediately went to look at her site and have bought one of her designs as a Christmas present to myself.
I tend to do that a lot. My excuse is that I'm worth it .

We got to the lights at Wrest park and miraculously the rain had stopped there. So while it was wet underfoot and still rather blustery it was dry, and relatively mild. I know that several NT, and RHS gardens do the same. I think it's quite a money spinner for them.

Quite right, @AnniD! You are definitely worth it! I have put my brooch on my Christmas present pile, along with a big pot of my favourite face cleaning balm (which was reduced in price for Black Friday) and a book I’ve bought myself. When OH asks me what I want for Christmas, I can just show him, or tell him he can have the surprise on the day if he’d prefer! 54 years married have taught us that we are not that good at buying presents for each other! I have to tell him the exact brand, size, and model number, so I might as well just get it myself! Same for him, a treat for him is some item of electronics, way above my head. The money all comes out of the same place anyway.
He was really delighted with the authentic Danish pastries I brought back for him from a shop in Oxford, so he does get the occasional surprise!

The Scrabble Club is having a Christmas gathering today at some ones home. Everyone is making something to share. I made savory biscotti. A lovely group of folks indeed . While out will get to the Amish market for eggs ect. Nothing else much planned, quiet day. take care.

              What a drizmal day!
I wanted stamps and a jiffy bag, but they'll have to wait. Not going out in this.
Mind you, it's supposed to be as bad, if not worse, tomorrow, and we're off to Llanberis for our pre Christmas get together with OH's sis and hub. We normally go over the 'tops', but think we'll hug the coast instead.
DIY SOS is there at the moment and the weather's certainly been against them.
Thank you, @Ergates I've bookmarked her Etsy page for future reference. I like the Puffin! (well, come to think of it, all of them!)
Got 'kids' coming for supper - easy fajitas.

That's a shame @Penny_Forthem about your dismal day because we've actually had a quite nice day here for a change. Mild and dry with just a hint of drizzle in the morning when we did our usual walk. Treated ourselves to a fresh baguette from the bakery so we could indulge ourselves with a cold roast beef butty - scrumptious. I cooked a largish roast beef last night courtesy of Sainsbury's half price offer - we normally always have lamb. The beef was delicious and would have been big enough for two roast dinners so I'm going to slice and freeze what is left over for another day.

I had another treat this afternoon this time courtesy of my beautician, whose daughter has just started college on a hair and beauty course and can now do facials for some clients - at half price. I jumped at the chance as I love being pampered so spent a blissful hour on a heated couch, wrapped in warm blankets having my face done. Lost track on how many potions she used - 5 ? including a new to me steam treatment. I very nearly fell asleep it was so relaxing.
Wish I could say I looked ten years older when I came out but at my age that's just delusion!!

I was just reading about Llanberis - enjoy your Xmas get together but keep an eye on the weather forecast which is apparently nasty for parts of Wales and south of Dartmoor. Do hope my daughter stays safe and stays at home if her heavy cold is worse.

I've almost finished my Christmas cards, just local ones left, some I'll hand deliver. We've received 3 cards so far, one of my great nieces, Cedric's nephew and a friend.

Today has been quiet, though I had an appointment at the pharmacy for my 'flu jab this afternoon. I had to pay for it as I officially live in France. It would have been free in France but it wasn't ready when we arrived in October.

There were household chores to do. Clothes have been in the machine, now hanging up in a spare room to dry, and the bed has clean sheets. I have put away the clean towels and done a small amount of ironing in front of Escape to the Country.

                  Gosh, what a boring post!
