    Good morning woo, and everyone,

    Woo, happy flying :dbgrtmb:

Well, I have a busy day today. Have to get Mrs shiney off to London and then start on all the things for the bridge tournament today. I have to be at the Village Hall to sort out the setting up for the tournament. There is a good team of people to help so it should go smoothly . We have to set out all the tables and chairs for about 100 people and get all the tea things ready in the kitchen. I also have to distribute all the needed paperwork to all the tables, prepare things for the professional director and have everything ready for his computer and printer. Each pack of cards is put into a 'board' (they are dealt by a computerised dealing machine) and we have nearly 300 of these which I have to place in their correct stacks.

Then back home for a quick bite of lunch before I have to get back to the hall at 1.00 to open up in time for all the contestants. I then have to do a few little speeches before we start and then we play bridge until approx 9 p.m. (with a short break for tea in the middle). Then I have to supervise the clearing up and then I'll go and pick up Mrs shiney (who will be back from college) and four of us shall go to the Indian restaurant. :dbgrtmb:

The sky is brightening up now and there is already a hint of sunshine :sunny:

    Have a great day :D

    Good Morning Friends,

Shiney sounds as though you are going to be going all out today to get everything done. I hope it proves very successful.

Kandy, it was very cold first thing. I sorted all my thermals out yesterday and this morning I actually made sure I had a vest and my long Janes on before taking Amber for her early morning walk. I felt snug as a bug. They say it is going to turn even colder by Tuesday. I think I am prepared for it.

It's a beautiful morning out there. I have just put a line of washing out. My son Steve went fishing early this morning so I hope he is enjoying himself.

    Have a lovely day everyone.

Just got back and things went very well :dbgrtmb:

Because of the superb organising (pat on the back :WINK1:) the event ran very smoothly and it was a friendly atmosphere even though it was competitive.

As an extra bonus, my team came joint first :hapfeet:

I'm very tired so hope I can manage a couple of hours sleep :D

        Good morning everyone,

Sounds like everyone is busy at the moment and glad that all is well with you all:)

Moyra,we have discovered a new vets round our way where you don't need to book an appointment, you just turn up so we went on Saturday with our cats and although we had to wait an hour due to there being lots of people in there, got a check up done plus their boosters done for £40 and the nice Aussie vet said that both our cats are in perfect health with fantastic teeth for their age so he doesn't want to see us for at least twelve months:yahoo:It just goes to show though how much profit some of these rip off vets are making from us all

I am off to the lottie this morning and need to get some weeding done and the garlic and winter broad beans sown before we get this bad weather that is coming later on this week:what:

        Have a good day everyone:)

Good morning Louise, Kandy and everyone,

Kandy, it's good to hear that your cats are doing well. We have never taken Oscar to a vet as he doesn't like to be taken outside his own area - and especially not near the road or in a car. Although he lets her do anything to him she can't carry him within 3ft of the road. Well over ten years ago I remember him walking through our garden with a large patch of fur that had been shaved off his rear hip so I think he was hit by a car.

I think Mrs Shiney examines his teeth and they look OK. He takes his pills with no trouble and she just opens his mouth and pops them in. He doesn't struggle at all and remains totally relaxed about it.

The sun has just come out and it will be another warm day :sunny:. Pity I haven't got my mower :(

This morning I have to spend quite some time sending all the results from yesterday to all the teams. Then get them posted on our website and then do the accounts for it. In the afternoon I'm going to one of the bridge club members who is quite ill. He's in considerable pain in his back and it is agony for him to sit or stand. They have been doing tests and scans to try and find out what is wrong but so far to no avail. They think he has some sort of infection in his blood . A group of us shall be going so that he can play some bridge as he is going out of his mind with boredom.

Keep well and have a great day :D

        Morning Everyone,

Shiney so glad it all went well yesterday and congratulations on the final outcome too. You did well. I hope you can get a couple of hours sleep now too.

I have just had a phone call from the hospital, can I go for my ultrasound scan of my kidneys tomorrow morning at 8.40 am, do not eat for at least 6 hours beforehand. Nice to have lots of notice!:rolleyespink:

Have a good day everyone. :sunny:

I suppose it's better than having lots of time to worry about it :thumb:. Good luck with it. :wub2:

I managed a couple of hours sleep in the armchair :dbgrtmb: and then got up at 3 a.m. There wasn't anyone on here at that time for me to chat to :D

        Good morning everyone,

Its another cool, rainy day here, supposed to stop later for a bit, so perhaps I'll rake some leaves.

Off to Toronto shortly, so have a great day everybody.

I didn't tell you all that I nearly got myself into real trouble yesterday. I decided to take Amber up the road in the car to the local lakes and give her a walk round. It is a lovely park and it was crowded with children and lots of people with their dogs on leads. As I started to walk around the first lake there is a big area of grass off to the side where the children kick their balls around, excuse the expression!:WINK1: There was a nasty looking chap walking across this grass area and he had a dog with him not on a lead. It was one of those Staffie or Bull terrier type dogs. I saw it run off and download a pile in the middle of the green, the chap didn't bother to clean up after it even though it was a play area. Then his dog saw Amber and came pelting towards her I had her on an extendable lead so I pulled it in quick and grabbed her by the collar and pulled her into me. I told the dog to go away and then the chap came up and said the dog was ok. I said she is not she should be on a lead and under control as required by the byelaws of the park. He said do you know the law as regards to dogs and I said yes. They should be under your control all the time. He said she is. So I said that is why you allowed her to dump in the middle of the green over there where children play and didn't pick up after her. His reply as he walked away to catch up with his dog now some distance away was Oh F--k you. :rolleyespink: Why when people know they are in the wrong do they always give that answer. I did complete the lap of the two lakes with difficulty but I didn't feel very safe there after that encounter. Shall take her to another park next time. But they are all the same so many young chaps with these bull terrier dog types that they have as weapons and you just don't feel safe walking your own dogs around them.:( They have ruined it for the staffie breed which generally are lovely dogs if trained right.:sunny:
