I tried to post earlier put a nice post in and a picture of my garden peas doing well and promptly lost it all.

I did say Shiney take it easy and don't overdo that back of yours and Loli I said it must be nice to let the chooks out and see the run around the garden to see what they can find that wasn't there the night before. Now lets see if I can get that picture of my garden peas up again. They are in my new wicker containers at waist height to save all that bending down. Here goes:

    P1000218.JPG

The far end basket has beetroot, carrots and onions just showing through!

Morning Everyone, Well last year I had the jute sacks but they gradually rotted away so Steve built me some tables to put the wicker baskets and their inner containers on and hey presto I have waist height gardening. Not so of course with the sweet peas that are in my bungalow bath. I have sown them in two circles ready to take the wigwam bamboo canes. I can't get the picture to come up same size as all my others but the system keeps telling me it is too large. That happens now and again with some photos.

Hope you all had a good day yesterday, not so bright this morning, not sure what the day has in store. Take care everyone and make the most of it. :)

      Good morning everyone,

I mowed some of the lawns yesterday, put some rat poison down five rat holes in the front garden :hate-shocked: and made sure the poison is over a foot deep in the holes. The other week we had some in the flower bed near our kitchen and I did the same. After a week I filled the holes in and they have remained undisturbed. We never had problems with rats whilst Oscar was here.

I've got to prepare for cooking lunch for students today. When I've done that I want to carry on working on the lawn edges as they are just starting to crumble. Once done they should continue looking good until next year.

      Have a great day

It's a shame that the neighbouring cats do not do as good a job as dear old Oscar did. He is missed in so many ways.:cat-kittyandsmiley:

Yes, he really did look after the garden and everything in it. I'm sure he knew what we wanted for our garden and made sure he followed it. He protected the birds from outsiders (even went from lazing to being 'on guard' when he spotted a hawk in the air), never trod on any seedlings or pots although he was surrounded by them in the greenhouse, never seemed to dig in the flower beds and in all the years he was with us we never saw cat poo in the garden! At one time a baby bluetit fell out of the nestbox and he chased away a magpie that tried to grab it. He then sat on guard until the parents got it to fly back to the nest.

Rats, rabbits, dogs and foxes were chased out of the garden (or, with a lot of the first two, caught and eaten). :dbgrtmb:

Good morning everyone and a 'Happy Easter' to one and all:smile:

I've been quiet busy these last few days so have only just had a chance to get on here:snork:

Shiney,I have just been reading some of the back posts and sorry to hear that Mrs Shiney has joined the Dietbetes club.:eeew: Has she had to go on meds or is she able to control it with diet and exercise?Send her our regards and hope she is ok in herself:dbgrtmb: Hope your aches and pains are subsiding so you are able to continue getting your beautiful garden ready for your open day:blue thumb:

Moyra, hope your burns are healing well and that you are not in too much discomfort now.The burns sound quiet nasty.:eeew: Your seedlings look fantastic and a good idea to have them set up higher so you don't have to do too much bending:blue thumb: Hope Steve and Amber are both ok as well:dbgrtmb:

Loli, hope you are able to have some well earned rest time away from work to be able to enjoy this time of the year now that spring has arrived:smile:

Penny, sorry I didn't know about your buisness problems with that partner but it is fantastic that you have managed to pay back all that money and in such a short time:yes:

Hope Woo and everyone else is ok and enjoying the few days of Easter celebrations:snork:

We have had rain on and off for the last few days so although it is much needed in this area it is stopping us from getting on with allotment and garden work.I expect that once work time starts again the sun will start to shine:snork:

Have a good one everyone,I am just going to get the dinner veggies sorted and see if we can get a little walk in inbetween the rain showers:biggrin:

          Good morning everyone,

Kandy, Mrs Shiney is now into second (or third ) year. She was managing to control it by diet but it wasn't improving and occasionally was a bit worse. So she is now on meds and has no trouble at all. She takes her meds, is a bit careful with her diet and, otherwise, ignores it completely apart from her regular appointments at the diabetic clinic in the village (blood test, weight etc).

My back is a permanent problem (had an operation on it in 1961) but I'm fairly careful to try and not do too much in one go. Some things aren't a problem, like mowing (although the mower is very heavy) and trimming the lawn edges - as I do those in an upright position. As I'm reshaping the edges (it lasts the whole year) there is a lot of soil and grass to pick up. That's where I have the problem, but I now sit on a large upturned plasting weed carrier and pick everything up that way. It takes much longer but I'm not in agony afterwards. I can't use a watering can (not in the quantity needed for our garden) so I may take up the offer of an exemption that the water authority have made.

Still no rain here. The other day the rain stopped just one field away from us!

I'll go out and carry on with the edges (should only take me another few weeks :)) and, depending on how I feel afterwards, I may plan what to have for dinner or go to the Indian restaurant this evening. They have a very reasonably priced buffet on Sundays .

It's time to take a hot drink to Mrs Shiney in bed :dbgrtmb:

          Have a great day

Morning All, Not very nice morning this morning all cloudy and gloomy.

Thanks to the E capsules my burns are now nearly healed and gone just the spot where the blisters were taking longer.

Have a Good Easter Sunday everyone and enjoy your company those of you who are having visits from the family. Take care all and don't over do things. God Bless.:)

Just had to come on here and give the news - IT'S RAINING :dancy: - only a little at the moment but it's a start!

Moyra, we're not all that far from you but we didn't get the rain yesterday . We got quite a lot of gardening done and had a nice walk to the village - and back :snork:

Time for a cuppa. See you all later
