Glad you had a comfortable run yesterday Shiney, it was a nice day for it with only the occasional shower. Bournemouth is a nice place to visit. I have friends in nearby Poole and keep saying I must visit but of course my phobias get in the way!

Hope everyone is making progress with their plots or allotments. I am relatively content with my small containers as they are coming along fine.

    Good morning everyone,

Shiney glad you and Mrs Shiney enjoyed your trip to the coast:blue thumb: Bournmouth was the place I went to for my first holiday when i was twelve with one of my elder brothers and his wife and family and i thoroughly enjoyed myself as it was my first ever holiday.Sadly I was nearly seventeen when i had my next holiday so am making up for it now:snork: Nice to walk along the seafront of any holiday destination in this country:biggrin:

Our village won't pay anything out for voluntary work and the council won't have litter pickers come round as the village hasn't been adopted yet and as there is talk of another 100 houses now being built it will never get adopted:frown:

Moyra, shame that Amber never took to the halti as they are a useful piece of kit and does save on having ones arms stretched:snork: Also birds will take the hatched egg shells away from the nest and drop them because the white of the inside of the egg shell will attract preditors to the nest so it isn't always the results of magpies raiding the nests:biggrin:

Loli, was it definetly a crow that had the Blackbird chick as like Moyra says it is likely to be a Magpie as they are the worst although usually if any of the larger birds raid a nest they will take the whole chick head and all:eeew: We have a pair of Blue Tits taking nesting material to our nest box but I htink they are very late this year so they must know something about the forthcoming weather that we don't:snork:

I was palnning on going over to the lottie yesterday afternoon but we had more rain so that was put off and we have had more overnight so now the slugs and snails are having a field day:gaah: but I am collecting the snails to take up to our newly palnted woods where I willre lease them for the Song Thrush we have up there and i know they love them:yes:

Off to do some ironing now me thinks:snork:

We must have crossed posts Kandy....
Yes it was a huge crow...but the magpies are here now upsetting all the other birds...no wonder the nieghbours think i'm crackers when they see me dancing round the garden trying to shoo them away....not that it works:doh:....
My chooks go mad for snails....when one gets one it's like a scene from Benny Hill and they all chase each other round the garden....it's funny to see:heehee:

    Good morning everyone,

Kandy, although the village have litter pickers they only do it around the village green - which is very large and made up of number of greens divided by roads. When Mrs Shiney walks to the village she takes a carrier bag and picks up the litter that passing motorists throw out of the car windows.

Loli, we've been picking our rhubarb for some time. With all the rain, it'll grow like mad if you pick some. If you don't pick it then it will inhibit the new growth. Do you grow custard as well? :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

    Have a great day

    Morning everyone,

Its cold and blustery here, we got snow overnight, infact its still snowing....and its supposed to change to rain later today.

I was supposed to go down to Toronto, but given the weather, thats now tomorrow.

Have a few errands to do around town today, and need to grab a couple things at the grocery store.

Lol, the dogs don't seem to mind though. Amber is asking me to take her out yet again. I don't think my legs will take much more. My knees and ankles are bad today. Can't tell a dog that though. Have a good evening everyone, the sun has just decided to shine, how lovely. :)

Back to dark and rain again this morning. Shiney, I am sorry but you will have to stop rain dancing and put the deflectors up for this part of Essex.

I just feel I cannot do anything in the garden when it is like this as it is so waterlogged. What happened to the long hot dry summers, cannot be long unless they start soon.

I hope everyone else is able to get on. I envy those of you who have nice big greenhouses you can get out there and get on with growing. My Tobacco plants need potting on and I cannot get out there to do it. I better find somewhere to buy some 3½" clay pots (60s) and I want some 48s too.

Have a good day all if you can. :)

    Good morning everyone,

It didn't start raining until around 10 this morning and is coming down steadily but not hard. We haven't got the winds that a lot of people are getting so it's making the garden look pretty good. The greens are rich and the colours vibrant.

I had another lovely big bonfire last night so I'm gradually getting rid of the bulk of prunings etc. That includes removing 15ft high branches from the poplar trees, lots of hedge cuttings, all the cut down pampas grass, rose prunings, lots of 10ft conifer branches of the sides of the neighbour's trees and a load of other prunings.

Today I'll be sorting out loads of paperwork and checking bank accounts, credit card statements, electricity/gas/water/phone etc bills, insurances etc. I'll get them all over and done with in one go.

    Have a great day

    Morning everyone,

Its a little warmer here, but its raining at the moment...but we do need it.

I have a few things to do today, including grocery shopping, and need to pick up some cleaner for the shop.

    Enjoy your day.

    Good afternoon everyone,

I didn't get everything done yesterday and it won't get done today. :heehee:

I've been out shopping this morning, will do some gardening this afternoon followed by a load of cooking and then a meeting this evening.

Sarafi has spent most of today sleeping in the greenhouse.

    Have a great day
